Stephen Gordin grew up in rural South Carolina, and folk and country music of the mid- 1960's served as an early musical influence. He was also intrigued by the big band sounds and the crooners of his parents' generation.. He began writing music later in life, when he felt he had developed enough life experiences to tell his stories. However, once he did, he has been prolific, primarily writing in a folk/blues/country style. However, he has also ventured into Southern rock, beach music, and alternative rock. Gordin has his solo career but also plays coffee houses/festivals/small venues with guitarist Lincoln Levenson under the name Highway 29. Aside from music, Gordin is also a writer, having three novels in print. (The Drive (2005); Inherent Consent (2000); and Way of Tides (2009)) and one memoir (Debby's Arrows (2008). All are available through online retailers. He has also served as an editorial writer and guest op-ed writer for various newspapers, such as The State (Columbia, SC) on matters of health care policy. He is also an avid runner and outdoors-man.
Born in the South Carolina countryside, Whiskey Nights is the second album released by blues-rock man Stephen Gordin. Produced by former Marshall Tucker bass player Tim Lawter, the album features nine original songs and the work of some excellent musicians. Those players include all-star drummer Scotty Hawkins, keyboardist Brandi Williams, and former Tucker lead guitarist Rusty Milner. Full of energy and fun, Whiskey Nights is an album that all Southern Rock fans will enjoy!
