Gerrit Veldman needs no introduction in the blues world. Say Gerrit Veldman, and you're talking blues. Gerrit doesn't just play blues, he is blues.
With an impressive track record, Gerrit Veldman is among the absolute top of the blues scene in the Benelux. He has been nominated multiple times as best blues singer and guitarist and was voted best blues guitarist in the Netherlands by the Dutch Blues Foundation in 2012. Gerrit's guitar work has certainly not gone unnoticed in the Benelux. Readers of Gitarist magazine voted him number 7 of best blues (rock) guitarists in 2023. In 2023/2024, Gerrit climbed the charts to the 4" spot. Over the years, Gerrit has played a key role in various bands. The Prodigal Sons and The Veldman Brothers, to name a few, but touring with Darrell Mansfield is also one of his achievements. The common thread has always remained Blues & Roots. Gerrit, with his magnificent blues voice and virtuoso guitar playing, knows how to convey this in an inimitable way. Gerrit always manages to surround himself with top musicians who completely understand each other, both personally and musically. You can hear, see, and feel this during the performances. As a result, the music has the depth that characterizes the blues and comes straight from the heart. After a two-year sabbatical, the blues blood is ingrained, and it's time to dive back into the blues world with a new album as a weapon, "Shifting Gears," which will be released on October 17th. On October 16th, there will be a pre-release performance at Hedon in Zwolle where this album will be presented. Every performance by the Gerrit Veldman Band guarantees full houses and a very enthusiastic audience.
