Bacon Fat is a three-piece rock 'n roll band, rooted deeply in the blues and drenched in a hard-rock/funk-soul-reggae/free-jazz sauce. These guys make sure the 60ies and 70ies musical heritage will live on. Whether you bang your head on hard-rock, trip away on psychedelic jazz or melt down for smooth howling bluesy guitars and funky beats, it is all there. The band-name comes from an obscure hit of Andre Williams in 1957 called 'Bacon Fat'. It fits the band in many ways one could say. As with most great performers the best chance for you to feel the vibes from this unique band is to watch Bacon Fat perform live on stage. Having said that you know what to do! Founded in 2000 this three-piece unit from the Brussels area proved more than enough they are one of the most remarkable and most rumoured acts in the Lowlands. It is one of the rare bands who manages to drive the audience over the top with mainly original songs. Everywhere the crowds go mad for the unique style of the boys whom one might possibly describe as an orgy between ZZ Top, Hendrix, Ten Years After, Andre Williams, Masters of Reality and Five Horse Johnson. However, it is impossible to label the band. Bacon Fat is Bacon Fat and it only sounds like – indeed – Bacon Fat. It is a mixture of blues, rock, trash and boogie with some psychedelic and jazzy flavours added. Along with the self-willed characters of the three band-members this is a band who doesn’t fit any locker. There is nothing or no-one sounding like nor resembling to Bacon Fat and exactly this is the strength of the band. [ from the album notes of the band's "Boogielicious Baby" album ]

Gerrit Veldman needs no introduction in the blues world. Say Gerrit Veldman, and you're talking blues. Gerrit doesn't just play blues, he is blues.
With an impressive track record, Gerrit Veldman is among the absolute top of the blues scene in the Benelux. He has been nominated multiple times as best blues singer and guitarist and was voted best blues guitarist in the Netherlands by the Dutch Blues Foundation in 2012. Gerrit's guitar work has certainly not gone unnoticed in the Benelux. Readers of Gitarist magazine voted him number 7 of best blues (rock) guitarists in 2023. In 2023/2024, Gerrit climbed the charts to the 4" spot. Over the years, Gerrit has played a key role in various bands. The Prodigal Sons and The Veldman Brothers, to name a few, but touring with Darrell Mansfield is also one of his achievements. The common thread has always remained Blues & Roots. Gerrit, with his magnificent blues voice and virtuoso guitar playing, knows how to convey this in an inimitable way. Gerrit always manages to surround himself with top musicians who completely understand each other, both personally and musically. You can hear, see, and feel this during the performances. As a result, the music has the depth that characterizes the blues and comes straight from the heart. After a two-year sabbatical, the blues blood is ingrained, and it's time to dive back into the blues world with a new album as a weapon, "Shifting Gears," which will be released on October 17th. On October 16th, there will be a pre-release performance at Hedon in Zwolle where this album will be presented. Every performance by the Gerrit Veldman Band guarantees full houses and a very enthusiastic audience. A performance by the Gerrit Veldman Band is an experience; the audience is transported into the music. Gerrit has amply demonstrated this over the past 20 years. ~Tonio Aa

American group originally founded 1956 in Eunice, Louisiana. The band originally included only three members (Doug Ardoin, Harris Miller, and Bert Miller), and they were playing swamp pop, but it eventually grew into a 12-piece Blue-eyed soul group. The group was disbanded in 1969, but made several reunion gigs before actually successfully reforming in 1991, and at the same returning to perform swamp pop.
From the beginning, the group was lead by Ardoin. After he left the band, Harris stepped in, but left the band in 1964. Clint West followed, but he was replaced as a leader by Ned Theall in 1965, a position Theall held until 1967, and eventually from 1991 until his death in 2010. From 1967 to 1969 the group was lead by Jack Hall. The current leader of the group is drummer Ronnie Crowley. After West left the band in 1965, he tried continuing the use of the name "Clint West and the Boogie Kings" without a permission and without an actual link to the Boogie Kings. The original Boogie Kings sued West, and forced him to rename his band to "Clint West and the Kings". More than four decades after the formation of the Fabulous Boogie Kings in Eunice, LA, the Museum of the Gulf Coast in Port Arthur, TX, inducted the band into the Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame. In addition, the Louisiana Hall of Fame inducted the group in 1994. Two years later, the South Louisiana Music Association bestowed an award for lifetime achievement on the band. The band's original lineup included guitarist Harris Miller, drummer Bert Miller, guitarist Doug Ardoin (aka Doug Charles), and Maurice Guillory, whose stage names included Skip Morris and Skip Stewart. As expressed above, other members have included Duane Yates, Jon Smith, saxophonist Dale Gothia, G.G. Shinn, Gary Walker, Gary Dorsey, Tommy McLain, Jerry LaCroix (aka Jerry Jackson), and Clint Guillory (aka Clint West). Ned Theall, a trumpet player from Abbeville, LA, came aboard during the 1960s.
With the trumpeter at the helm, the band diverted from its original swamp pop sound to one that was more in line with blue-eyed soul. Another change was the group's membership, which swelled to about a dozen musicians. The changes brought the Fabulous Boogie Kings gigs in Las Vegas as well as three nationwide tours in the late '60s.
The group also worked as backup to other acts both in the studio and during live performances, working with such artists as Ray Charles, B.B. King, the Righteous Brothers, and Otis Redding. By the late '60s, however, the amount of work available to the Fabulous Boogie Kings had dwindled considerably and the following years saw them perform publicly only for reunion shows. During the 1990s, their return to the music scene saw them revert successfully to their swamp pop origins. In 1993, "I Love That Swamp Pop Music" became a regional hit for the band. Swamp Boogie Blues, a full-length album, came next.
In Feb 2016, Master-Trak Studios went into their studio archive and have issued previously unreleased material recorded in 2009 just prior to the death of Ned Theall. This release features the last known recording sessions including Theall, "The Boogie Kings, Legacy" MT 5099-2.

13. She Needs Time - 3:37
14. When Leo Starts to Growlin' - 5:58
15. Out of the Box - 5:43

Guitar Mikey and the Real Thing are definite proof that blues is fresh and alive. With the funk of James Brown and the intensity of Buddy Guy combined with the heaviness of Led Zeppelin the band has earned the opportunity to share the bill with such artists as The Thunderbirds, John Mayall, Johnny and Edgar Winter and even hard rock bands the likes of Nazareth. At eleven years old, Guitar Mikey had already established his destined path when sneaking back stage to meet slide guitar mentor, Muddy Waters. At the age of twelve he began playing in local rock bands and at sixteen, began fronting the critically acclaimed - award winning Steel City Blues Band. Later, this band would feature, and then back Canada’s King Biscuit Boy. Over the years Mikey has been seen hanging around Toronto to Buffalo, Chicago, to Boston, sharing the stage with the likes of Honeyboy Edwards, Yank Rachel, Buddy Guy, Otis Rush, Billy Branch, Carl Withersby and the late Paul Butterfield. Many Hamilton fans remember the years of Mikey's regular Sunday night where he helped build the popularity of Hess Village's club, The Gown & Gavel. Here Guitar Mikey would regularly have musicians sit in like Carey Bell, Phil Guy, Eddie Kirkland, Eddie Shaw, Luther Tucker, Don Walsh to name a few. Most recently he has reached his final destination, Clarksdale Mississippi. This is where he will continue playing the music he loves, in the place it was born.
"Mikey himself, is an awesomely deft guitarist. He can go from knock-down-the-walls power to gentle tenderness in a beat. He adroitly reaches to the roots of his music to the point where blues is infused into almost all forms of pop". ~ Gary Curtis ~ The Spectator

Guitar Pete - Burning Bridges

Bitrate:320K/s
Year:1998
Time:43:46
Size:100,2 MB
Label:Tangible Music
Styles:Blues Rock
Art:Full

Tracks Listing:
 1. Turnin' Off - 3:47
 2. Jellyfish - 2:44
 3. Mustang Sally - 3:44
 4. Do You Hear The Rain - 5:45
 5. J. B. Shuffle - 3:45
 6. Drifting - 4:30
 7. Makes No Sense - 6:27
 8. Chillin' - 4:06
 9. Rainmaker - 3:00
10. Gasoline - 5:54

Burning Bridges is a pretty apt title for Guitar Pete's incendiary solo debut. The artist keeps his namesake instrument blazing throughout the record, which essentially amounts to 43 minutes of gloriously shameless showboating. Pete is not a particularly talented vocalist; his booming, throaty bass is well-suited to the blues, but it would hardly earn him a recording deal on its own. On some tracks, he seems to give up entirely on the idea of singing, resorting instead to shouting the words rhythmically. Two of the album's best tracks ("J.B. Shuffle" and "Chillin'") are instrumental tunes that allow the guitar to wail for itself in a smoldering tizzy of dexterous showmanship. The album's sound is remarkably three dimensional for a three-piece band (Guitar Pete is joined by Anthony Bernardo on drums and Marc B. Gilman on bass guitar) playing a series of more or less run-of-the-mill Chicago-style blues songs. That's because Pete's fretwork is so dense and multi-faceted, letting more than a little '70s jam band influence to crash his ostensibly traditional blues party. This is particularly true in his explosive take on the familiar blues-rock tune "Mustang Sally" and in the smoky rhythm and blues number "Do You Hear the Rain." Burning Bridges is not a brilliant album; it has no pretensions to greatness. It is simply straightforward showmanship and as such it's a pleasure. One of the first things to make an impression when listening to Burning Bridges for the first time is the unusually deep, clear voice of vocalist/guitarist Guitar Pete. His vocal style sounds to be more like that of a smooth & soulful R&B singer, especially on the slower ballads. Pete counters this vocal style with blues-rock guitar leads, as he runs through a set of 9 originals and one cover tune, Mustang Sally. The songs range from slow blues and ballads, to pop and shuffles, sometimes reminicent of ZZ-Top. The mix of harder, blues-rock guitar oriented material to more melodic music and ballads is about even. I enjoy a good ballad every now and again, but would would have enjoyed a couple more hard blues or upbeat songs. My favorite songs from the CD include Jellyfish, an upbeat, humorous ode to the full figured woman, Makes No Sense, the one straight blues number, Chillin', a groovin' blues-rock instrumental, and the set's closer, Gasoline, a ballad which features some nice, soulful guitar work. While the song selection includes a bit too much in the way of nice melodies and ballads for my tastes, this is my only major negative comment. I enjoy Guitar Pete's guitar playing, and after a short period of adjustment, found that his R&B flavored vocals work well with the blues.

There are 13 songs on this disc and they range from some slow blues to his characteristic hard-driven Texas blues that he learned growing up in the Fort Worth. His main influences that you can hear are Jimmy Reed, Anson Funderburgh, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, though much of his vocal phrasing probably comes from the time he spent playing in Robert Ealey's band. His guitar playing is his strong point and he displays it well. From the tasteful slide work on "Mama's Girl" to the loping lines he uses on "Can't Stop Lovin' You," to the chuk chuk guitar of Back in the Alley" to the the hard-driving "Dee Blues." On this latter cut he lets his guitar soar and pound away at the restraints of the speakers, and spends his time really bending the wires to stretch any limits that remain. He makes excellent use of his horn players here, using them to augment his sound and make it fill up the room. A nod must be given at this point to Keith Sykes who co-produced the disc with Mason Ruffner for his contribution on that end. Its good to hear that rasp voice rubbing over the lyrics, but it is even better to hear the guitar-driven Texas blues of this man again.

10. Bittersweet Goodbye - 3:10

From the dusty tobacco roads of Tillsonburg, Ontario comes Johnny Tornado. A natural born outlaw, he left home at 14 to work in the Canadian tobacco fields. Johnny has traveled throughout Canada, coast to coast, playing his special brand of rockin' blues with the likes of the late, great Dutch Mason, Big Dave McLean and numerous other Canadian blues icons. As a young man he lived a gypsy's life exploring the deep American south, hustling pool and living for the moment. He worked as a carney and when the rides fell silent, Johnny would entertain the carnival crew with his honest and edgy performances. Whenever possible he would frequent the local blues clubs and was a witness to the evolution of the some of the blues masters such as Freddie King and John Lee Hooker. His checkered past brought with it tragedies, setbacks and finally prison time. At age 40 Johnny emerged from prison with head full of songs and an intention to live his music, his way, on the right side of the law. Though he has appeared on many recordings and has extensive stage experience, Johnny has never made a full length recording of his own … until now. .. ..”Storm Riders” chronicles Johnny's life from those early days until the present. The songs are a direct and true reflection of a man who would lay down his life for a true friend. There is a gunslinger's swagger and a ‘devil may care' attitude that permeates his soulful songwriting and performances. He is a true Canadian treasure with a penchant for blues that will rock you to the core.

 3. Two Trains - 2:34
 4. I'm Alright - 5:48

 7. Boogie for Patty - 5:05
 8. Trust in Love and Fate - 5:05
 9. Worried in Mind Blues - 3:17
10. Rest in Peace - 2:29

‘Two Trains’ features Keyes co-writing eight of its ten songs with songwriting partner Mark Sameth, who has penned hits as a Nashville writer for Loretta Lynn, and Bettye LaVette among many others. “I’m especially proud of the collaboration with Mark on this disc,” says Keyes. “The songs are topical, both on a personal level and on a world level. There is something here that everyone can relate to: love, loss, joy and pain and how we deal with it all.” The album features special guest and legendary drummer Bernard Purdie, plus appearances by harmonica ace Rob Paparozzi, (Blues Bros.) Mike Merritt (Jimmy Vivino, Conan O’Brien) Chris Bergson and vocalist Alexis P. Suter in addition to long- time Dave Keyes band stalwarts, drummer Frank Pagano and guitarist John Putnam. A special recording with the late acoustic guitar legend Woody Mann is an added treat. ‘Two Trains’ was mixed by multi-Grammy Award-winning engineer, Dae Bennett.
“For me this album is about coming home to my roots and paying tribute to all the styles that have influenced me since I was a kid,” adds Keyes. “Blues, boogie, country blues, urban blues, gospel and some funky stuff. From Ray Charles to Leon Russell and everyone in between. I’m not a purist, but I respect my roots and I stand on the shoulders of those that have gotten me here.”  A native New Yorker, keyboardist, singer and songwriter, Dave Keyes is a 40-year veteran of the Blues and American Roots music scenes. His last album, the 2022 release Rhythm, Blues and Boogie, featured legendary drummer Bernard Purdie, who also appears on Two Trains. Having toured the world both as a solo artist and with his own band, Dave Keyes brings his music solidly back to his soulful blues roots on the new disc, along with some electrifying keyboard work. In addition to his Blues Music Award nominations, his band has won the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge and released seven prior acclaimed albums. For much of the last 10 years, in addition to his own band and solo gigs, Dave worked with bluesman Popa Chubby, and R&R queen Ronnie Spector. Previously Dave had lengthy stints with such iconic and varied artists as Odetta, David Johansen, Bo Diddley, rockabilly legend Sleepy LaBeef and gospel great Marie Knight. Dave’s music finds its roots in deep blues, soul and rock and roll. These roots are the foundation of his recent albums and vibrant live shows. His well-received previous albums are rambunctious sets of mostly original material that range from New Orleans second-line funk to slow sensual blues, swaggering shuffles and boisterous rocking boogie-woogie.
He has made numerous festival appearances both in the US and abroad including 3 appearances at France’s prestigious Cognac Blues Festival and annual appearances at Lugano, Switzerland’s Blues to Bop festival among many others. He also worked as a sideman for a who’s who of roots, soul and Rock and Roll music masters such as Eddy Clearwater, Big Jay McNeely, Tracy Nelson, Gladys Knight, Pam Tillis, Darlene Love, and the late great Ruth Brown, Lou Rawls and Levon Helm.(Website: https://www.davekeyes.com/)

Kelli Baker - Granite

Bitrate:320K/s
Year:2025

Size:60,5 MB
Label:Gulf Coast Records
Styles:Blues/Blues Rock/Soul
Art:Front

Tracks Listing:
 1. Silk Flowers - 4:34
 2. Right On Time - 4:15
 3. The Call - 0:48
 4. Granite (Badlands) - 4:00
 5. Where Did You Sleep Last Night - 4:03
 6. Love in the Sheetz - 3:19
 7. Whipping Post - 5:14

Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Baker moved to New York City in 2012. Her venture into music began in church, where many other strong musical foundations have been planted for successful artists. After arriving in New York, she became involved in the local blues scene and continues to perform music described as blues-rock and soul. Her songwriting often draws from personal experiences, which is where most great songs originate. Baker cites influences such as Bonnie Raitt, Chris Cornell, Susan Tedeschi, and Aretha Franklin. She has also begun stacking up awards and achievements in the blues genre, including winning the 2024 615 Blues Revival Competition in Nashville and the Long Island/Brooklyn/Queens division of the International Blues Challenge. She has also been featured in several magazine publications. Kelli Baker regularly performs with bluesman Mike Zito and recently toured with Christone “Kingfish” Ingram. Granite consists of seven songs, four of which were written by Kelli Baker. She also included a Mike Zito song, an Allman Brothers cover, and a traditional folk tune. Two originals, “Silk Flowers” (which also has an official video) and “Granite,” have been released as singles. Italian musician Noe Socha contributes great guitar and harmonica work, while Tom Curiano handles drums. “Right On Time,” the second track on the album, is a bluesy, sultry tune that features funky, fiery guitar playing alongside Baker’s soulful vocals. She sings, “It’s been a dark, dark morning. It’s been a dark, dark day,” and “You’re always right on time.” “Love in the Sheetz,” the upbeat Mike Zito tune, is another highlight. Baker delivers it with enthusiasm: “All I need is something sweet. All I need, I need is love in the Sheetz.” It’s a fun, lighthearted song full of imagery. You can find almost anything in a Sheetz, so is it hard to imagine finding love there, too? I think not. The final song on Granite is a cover of the classic Allman Brothers Band tune “Whipping Post.” Maybe it’s my love for nearly anything by the Allman Brothers that makes this my favorite cut on the EP, but I’m convinced it’s also due to the fine job Baker and her band do putting their own spin on this timeless song. All seven tracks on Granite are enjoyable, and there’s no doubt that Kelli Baker has a huge, electrifying voice.

I’m gonna buy you a bottle of Easy-Off/And girl you know just what I mean/Fish love underwater/Worms love underground/Let’s make love in a garbage can/And you can’t turn me down, Arkansas-based Billy Jones Bluez sings on his recent release, I’m a Bluesman.
Indeed he is. And it goes without saying that the above, sung on opening track “The Iceman,” is an A-plus proposition, made better by Jones Bluez’ firm and stylized grasp on the art of funk, traditional blues and hip-hop.
The record begins with “The Iceman,” a prime effort in traditional blues, which transitions to the slow hip-hop and funk bass of “I’m Yo’ Freak” to the guitar blistering through an industrial sounding rhythm on “Nothin’ but the Blues.”
The title track has a limber, structured rhythm section with a melty melody that draws a loose line over disgruntled distortion, creating a vibe with Highway 61 roots. A 7-minute mood-setter midway through the record, “I’m a Bluesman” is where Jones Bluez makes a statement as the bass’s redundant roll of thunder and the answering clap of percussion resonate even as the guitar peters out.
“Do Right Baby” channels a sort of Billie Holiday brand of misery and emotiveness, and “Love Nobody Else” has an air of apprehension as the artist sings, She said all I wanted was for you to love me/But you only love yourself/And you’re so wrapped up in your own ego/That you can’t love nobody else.”
By the time the record ends with “You And Me,” Jones Bluez has moved back toward vintage hip-hop with distorted guitars and ’80s-sounding synthesizers, though whatever the genre, the artist’s voice is earnest and palpable, hovering in the air over the music like fading smoke long after the lyrics are sung, and he manages to home in on some of the best from blues torchbearers like Parliament and Jimi Hendrix—and there’s even some Prince in there.

Harry Vann Walls
1918-1999, born in Middlesboro, KY
As the house pianist for Atlantic Records from 1949 through 1955, Harry Vann “Piano Man” Walls was the architect of R&B blues piano. He grew up in Charleston where his mother was a piano teacher. He left home as a teenager and toured the South with carnivals, circuses, and variety caravans.
In his mid-20s, he returned to Charleston and played as a solo pianist in local clubs and on WCHS (AM) radio. In the early ’40s he played in Cal Greer’s band, then formed his own band based in Columbus, OH. In 1949, Walls signed on as the house pianist with Atlantic Records in New York where he played on virtually all of the label’s R&B tracks during the 1950s, notably with Joe Turner (he was featured on the hit single “Shake, Rattle and Roll”) and Ruth Brown. He also played behind The Clovers, The Drifters and Laurie Tate, and released sides under his own name. In 1954, he joined The Nite Riders. He married in the early 1960s and moved to Canada, forming his own band. In the 1970s, he was touring small towns in Quebec, and playing taverns and motel lounges.
Walls began to re-emerge in the 1990s, beginning with a concert on May 18, 1990, in Brooklyn Heights, New York, where he appeared with his former piano student, Mac Rebennack (aka Dr. John). Walls and Rebennack would perform together again a few months later, at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. He would go on to play at numerous other jazz and blues festivals over the rest of the decade. Walls’s final CD, In the Evening, was released in 1997.
In 1997, Walls was recognized with a Pioneer Award from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation, along with Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, The Four Tops, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, and Gary U.S. Bonds. Walls died of cancer in Montreal, on February 24, 1999. He played piano in the cancer ward almost until the day of his death. A documentary titled Vann “Piano Man” Walls: The Spirit of R&B was released in October 2013, premiering at the Festival du nouveau cinéma.

The Pistolwhips combine upbeat indie rock tunes with old school blues licks and a dose of psychedelia to create a sound that is dynamic and captivating. In a relatively short period of time, The Pistolwhips have performed across Canada at a number of festivals such as Canadian Music Week, JUNOfest, The Sasktel Jazz Festival, MOSOfest, The Red Bull Sound Stage, Sasktel Summer Invasion, and Winnipeg’s Prairie Barge Festival. The Pistolwhips made their first trip overseas to perform a string of shows in London, England in October of 2014. The band’s powerful stage presence combined with their epic live performances and huge local following has led to some hailing them as a “local super group”.
The Pistolwhips released a 4 song EP in late 2012 that was very well received in their home province. After winning the RAWLCO 10K20 Award from Saskatoon rock station Rock 102FM, The Pistolwhips set out to makes their debut LP. The Pistolwhips released “On Your Side” in July of 2014. Described as “another definite winner”, “On Your Side” is composed of 10 songs and was recorded by Ryan Andersen (AC/DC, Sarah McLachlan) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Once again, “On Your Side” was very well received by their home province, and was named Best Album of 2014 by Planet S Readers in Saskatoon.  The Pistolwhips have shared the stage with Yukon Blonde, The Sheepdogs, Monster Truck, One Bad Son, Dragonette, Bend Sinister, The Deep Dark Woods, and 36!. The Pistolwhips continue to be road warriors. In February of 2015 they embarked on their biggest tour of Western Canada to date, including a performance at Vancouver’s Media Club and a show with fellow Saskatchewan band Close Talker in Kelowna.

“Can't Be The Only One”  Is a unique and powerful collection of songs and compositions written by Dave Getz, who is best known as the drummer and original member of Big Brother and the Holding Co with Janis Joplin..The title song “Can't Be The Only One” is a song Dave and Janis wrote together in 1968 that was never recorded until Dave, 42 years after her death understood  its importance as one of Janis' most autobiographical lyrics and knew there was a way to create the musical reality it was destined for.
“Can't Be The Only One” is a creative masterpiece and has been praised by critics Ben-Fong Torres of Rolling Stone and Greg Evans of the NYTimes.  Beside the title track “Can't Be The Only One” presents a set of eclectic musical adventures and great songs that is unlike anything other musical artists of Getz' generation have produced. It is the kind of record  that reveals something new with each listening. It is a record for what musicians sometimes refer to as people with 'big ears'.
Also performing on this CD are many of the great singers and players who have been a part of Big Brother and the Holding Co over the years, including  the late, great blues vocalist Kathi McDonald, (Rolling Stones, Leon Russell)  as well as BBHC original Peter Albin. The second track on the CD “More” features some profound, existential lyrics by the late Sam Andrew.  The next to last track “Trail of Tears” features what may be the last-recorded, signature, guitar solo by the late James Gurley, who was  once called 'the father of psychedelic guitar”.

Keyboardist/vocalist Anthony Farrell and guitarist/vocalist Andrew Trube met and began collaborating over 20 years ago, over a shared love of The Meters. The duo has recruited a number of drummers over the years, including ace Austin session player Russell Lee, who currently occupies that seat. For a decade, Farrell and Trube were mainstays in JJ Grey's MOFRO, but left in 2016 to focus exclusively on Greyhounds. They've released five full-length studio albums and one full-length live record (for Ardent Records and Nine Mile Records) and developed a unique funky Texas sound that Trube describes as "Hall & Oates meets ZZ Top." The band also frequently records and collaborates with dozens of other Austin musicians in their home studio Bud's Recording Services. The party started in the summer of 2021 at Cry Baby Hill, Tulsa’s honky-tonk Mardi Gras, and has been raging ever since. Eight performers driving the groove, fronted by a five-piece horn section, are on a mission to spread joy wherever they go. King Cabbage Brass Band is like a jukebox of funk, soul, jazz, and R&B, with a live show that transcends genre boundaries and captivates the audience with sing along songs that last all night.
