Blues Boy Willie - Be-Who ?

Size:92,6 MB

 5. Let Me Funk With You - 4:11
 6. Can We Talk Before We Separate - 6:15
 7. Highway Blues - 4:48
 8. Be-Who - 5:07

Surprise hit album featuring the jukebox smash "Be Who?", a funny dialogue over laidback blues between Willie, his then wife Miss Lee and producer/friend Gary B.B. Coleman. Willie says he's gonna leave and he's only paying support on five of their seven children because the two "bug-eyed" ones aren't his. She informs him, however, the "bug-eyed" ones are the only ones who are his. They have a fight and when they make up Willie's wife accidentally calls him "B.B" and you can guess what happens next. Anyway, this isn't the best track here. Fine slow blues cuts like "Stealin' Your Love Tonight" and "Can We Talk Before We Separate?" showcase Willie's deep, rich vocals benefited by Coleman's sympathetic production. The album spent 21 weeks on Billboard's Top R & B Albums Chart, peaking at #57.

Blues music has long thirsted after the pleasures and pains of love at the heart of its emotional essence. Sometimes, though, love and the blues create a thirst for more – like the heady musical cocktail of ‘Seven Deadly Gins,’ the sparkling new album served up by the Colorado band Reckless and Blue. The group’s searing blues style has made them winners of the Colorado Blues Society’s 2026 Blues Challenge, headed for January’s International Blues Challenge. The seasoned veterans of Reckless and Blue were pulled together by George Williams in 2017, when he returned to the Denver area after three decades of travel, and sharpening his talents as a classical guitar student, band member, singer, and songwriter. ‘Seven Deadly Gins is a follow up to the band’s debut album, Can’t Give Me The Blues, released in 2021. The Reckless quintet regulars include Williams on guitar and vocals, Allen Anderson on keyboards, Tom Dillard on bass, Steve Gaskin on drums, and sultry vocalist Shaunda Fry, notable as a latecomer to the group two years ago, who didn’t begin her singing career until she turned 50. The ten songs here were written or co-written by Williams, who shares the vocals with Fry, often trading verses in the same song, adding a passionate he-said, she-said lovers’ interaction (https://recklessandblue.net/)

Tracks Listing:
 1. They Call Me Nomad - 4:11

 3. Coming Home to You - 2:54
 4. Razor's Edge - 3:21

 7. Special Rider - 5:38
 8. Meet Me in the Bottom - 4:31
 9. Waitin' On You - 3:01
10. So Bad - 4:26

"First appearances, you see just another guy in a two tone shirt with no bowling insignias. But then you cue the CD…..Wow! This Massachusetts based artist kicks it in gear immediately with a self title piece called “They call me Nomad”. Doing vocal, guitar and harmonica, it is best to get out of the way cause this guy means business. Stellar back up primarily by Geoff Lutley on bass and Tracy Sherman on drums. Other artists include Peter King and Jerry Ellis on bass, Dale Monette, and Billy Klock on drums, Doug Jones and Dan Lundy on Saxophones, Fred McIntosh Hammond B-3 and Sandra Wright and Susan Duncan providing vocals. “I go to work” pleads with a spouse or future ex’spouse, to lighten up! I carry the burden, employment. Leave me be! “Coming Home to You” departs from the electric and takes you on a bottle neck acoustic journey. No this man’s just happy to be thinkin’ about his woman. “Razor’s Edge” brings back the full band with an electric slide guitar. The tune talks about the paths one takes and how sometime it pushes back! “Kickstand” adds to the heat with a up tempo instrumental tune featuring fine guitar with the of some nicely placed saxophone. “Green Eyes” comes creepin’ in like some ole Howlin’ Wolf tune. Nice work between the guitar and harp parts gives it a urban-ghetto kinda feel. A tipping of the hat to the Delta with the Skip James’s tune “Special Rider”. Very cleanly played, nicely resonating the voice and the strings together. I was ready to order another drink after this tune. “Your special rider is dead!” Now that is the blues! Yeah!
“Meet in the Bottom”, John Lee Hooker standard that’s been covered by the world and then some. Mark Nomad’s version has a decided South Side of Chicago/Hound Dog Taylor feel. Little bit of slide… little bit of fuzz tone.. pretty rockin! “Waitin’ on You” is a Nomad composition reflecting a little Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee. A few more “whoops” thrown into the mix and we’d be off chasing hounds and raccoons! Mark finishes this effort with “So Bad“, an electric slide number that pleads the case of love not returned. Very melodic slide, with shades of Derek and Elvin Bishop detected" ~  Jim/

Stefan Hauk (30) is one of Australia's brightest young Blues Rock artists. Playing guitar since the age of 4 and gigging since the age of 11, music has always been at the centre of his life.
His music can be described as dynamic, powerful and influenced by the greats of blues, soul and classic rock. His inspired guitar playing delivers shades of Gary Moore, SRV, Jimi Hendrix, Paul Kossoff and Derek Trucks and his soulful voice takes inspiration from the likes of Paul Rodgers, Chris Stapleton and Peter Gabriel.
After spending his formative years playing rock covers in bar bands in September 2017, at 21 years of age Stefan released his debut self-produced album Long Road. After spending a few years finding his way in the industry, in August 2020 Stefan released a single Truth featuring the legendary Ian Paice of Deep Purple on drums and Lachy Doley on organ.
Over the last three years Stefan has been on a roll; completing multiple national Australian tours. In 2023 he released his second studio album Heavy Handed, and a viral concert video on YouTube Homecoming - Live At The Gov. Ross Harding - The Blood & The Blues

Tracks Listing:
 1. A Thousand Snakes - 4:12
 2. The Blood & The Blues - 5:32
 3. Me & Lucifer - 3:38
 4. Revelator Blues - 3:09
 5. No Rest For The Wicked - 4:22
 6. Dark City Blues - 6:18
 7. Black Rose - 4:43
 8. A Thousand Snakes - 4:23

It starts with A Thousand Snakes (Deluxe Version), which sets the tone well for the rest of the album. His voice reaching out of the darkness, telling us he’s been to hell and back, with a tone, richness and roughness you want from a tormented buesman. An acoustic start with some rich electric notes raising up from the abyss, intoxicating and magical. Black Rose is up next, and this branches out from regular blues and brings some Jimmy Page inspired acoustic guitar picking into the picture. Following this is Dark City Blues which pulls out some pain dripping notes from his electric guitar. It reminds me in tone and feel of Eric Clapton’s Edge Of Darkness TV theme. It certainly paints a picture of empty city streets in the middle of the night.Me And Lucifer hits next, this being one of the two singles. A rockabilly slide fest with more admissions of nefarious practices, talking of which, No Rest For The Wicked follows hot on it’s heels, with an electric riff which wouldn’t have sounded out of place on ZZ Top’s Tres Hombres, or even Jethro Tull’s Aqualung, and contains some dexterous guitar work, which just sends tingles up my spine. Then we have Revelator Blues, the song which seduced me some months ago, and it’s not lost any of it’s allure. I love acoustic blues, I love slide blues, with a kick drum to keep the beat. This song delivers all with such attitude, you’ve got no choice but to stomp your foot and nod your head. The title tracks follows next , an electric work out of gargantuan proportions. Quite unrelenting in it’s aural assault. It picks you up, drops you down and picks you up again, leaving your brain crying out for more as it finishes. And more there is with the last track, a non deluxe version of A Thousand Snakes, more electric and less acoustic but no less enthralling. The thing which sets Ross Harding apart from his contemporaries, is the primal and primitive feel of his songs, his voice and his playing. He really does sound like he is playing and singing to save his soul.

Debbie Bond and The Trudats - That Thing Called Love

Size:91,2 MB
Label:Blues Root Productions

Tracks Listing:
 1. You're the Kind of Trouble - 4:15
 2. Steady Rolling Man - 3:45
 3. Feed My Soul - 5:46
 4. I Like It Like That - 4:45
 5. Still Missing You - 3:58
 6. Tarragona Blues - 3:19
 7. Falling - 4:05
 8. That Thing Called Love - 4:57
 9. Tarragona Blues (Extended Mix) - 4:38

This is an album full of the energy gained from recording live in an Army Surplus tent in the hills of West Nashville. Made into a special album of Debbie’s Alabama inspired blues with inspiration from across the blues spectrum with some mixing and mastering in the studio; this was not as originally planned but really works. There is a cleanness of sound that has been blended using vocals, keys, guitar, harp and rhythm section that just have that magic to mix and pour out tunes that please and get those feet tapping with a collection of seven originals and two covers that fit like a glove in the sound being created on That Thing Called Love. Opening with You’re The Kind of Trouble the tone is set with the vocals that reflect in its melodic throatiness the 30 years of performing music live and in the studio on this her third album that just gets into your musical soul and continues to deliver music that just does not disappoint. The other cover is their version of Wendell Holmes Feed My Soul this is seductive and gets the hairs on the back of your neck raised and the shiver cascades down your spine; added to the mix is a sultry sax this is a track that stays with you long after the music fades.Capturing the tempo and feel of a 1920’s country fair with the dance beat of Steady Rolling Man. This is a track where the interaction of Saxophone and Piano create the mood with a ragtime beat and reflects the touring life of musicians and the speakeasy environment of times gone by. The title track is at the heart of the album and stands out from the beginning with deep soulful instrumental of muted drums, searing sax and moody bass, the guitar and Debbie’s vocals power through the track that has a dark underbelly and is different from the rest of the pack and does pack a musical punch! Want some jazzed up blues with a flamenco aire then Tarragona Blues will fit the order as the mood is captured with a click of the drums and the beat of the bossa nova entwined this is a number to get audiences out of their seats and onto the dance floor and for good measure there is an extended version bringing the album to its close. This is an album that is never hard-hitting but full of style and textures, Debbie’s vocals and guitar work ensure that and she has surrounded herself with musicians who know the sound she is creating, blues that has soul and at times a pop feel and often a dance beat but as the song says I Like It Like That(https://www.debbiebond.com/gigs.html).

This superb recording by Jimmy Adler is one of the finest blues CDs I have heard in my many years of playing and teaching the blues. Jimmy is a versatile, supremely talented blues guitarist, songwriter, and singer from Pittsburgh. The blue-collar grit of the Steel City comes through in every track on this recording. Jimmy's guitar style features a composite of influences blended with a tremendous amount of originality. His interesting phrasing is well-defined, and his guitar tone is beautiful. There are not many people in this post-Wille Dixon era who can write a good blues song. Jimmy's originals, of which there are eight here, sound like they could have been written by a 1950s blues musician. They are fantastic compositions and many cuts above the norm. His singing too is original, highly expressive, and his strong, growling voice is at times reminiscent of Johnny Winter. Some of the cuts include Jimmy's very fine slide playing. You will hear on this CD expert renditions of many roots-blues styles including swamp blues, jump blues, Chicago blues, and so forth. It is obvious that Jimmy has immersed himself in all of these styles. The band is highly professional and they know how to play the blues. You can tell when a pro is playing the blues because all the parts fit comfortably with no forcing. This is a recording by a man who has obviously devoted many years to playing the blues. I don't think there's a better blues musician anywhere. If you are a fan of the blues, or want to hear how the blues should be played, I believe you'll be quite enthusiastic about this very fine recording (CD Baby).

Sandy Atkinson’s website says the versatile blues woman is based in the Tampa Bay area, where she and her band perform regularly. Her online bio states that Atkinson is known for her diversity in writing and vocal styles, which are mostly blues, rock, and country. She has toured in the U.S. and Norway and has been a guest on radio shows nationally and internationally. In addition, Atkinson has now released seven CDs. As stated in the album’s one-pager, The Best of Sandy Atkinson includes tracks from those previous seven albums. The one-pager goes on to say that Atkinson began singing in church at the age of five, and when she was fourteen, her mother gave her a guitar, which she learned to play on her own and even started writing her own songs. Her musical influences include Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, Otis Redding, Mahalia Jackson and Ray Charles. Most of all, she credits her mom for passing on her love of music and singing.
Atkinson is included in the Museum of Florida History’s Florida’s Got the Blues exhibit, and she has represented the Suncoast Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge (IBC) held each year in Memphis. In 2023, Atkinson was invited to play the National Women in Blues Showcase, held at Alfred’s on Beale Street (in Memphis) during IBC Week. In addition, Atkinson chaired the Suncoast Blues Society’s Blues in the Schools program for three years.
She most enjoys working with her band, The True Loves. “I feel very lucky to play with such a talented, experienced group of professionals with the True Loves, which includes Cannon Quinn, Dennis McCarthy, Dean Germain and our newest member, Jeff Davis. These guys are pros and so talented! They each have many years of experience touring, (playing) on stage and in the studio, and I’m honored to make music with them. We fit perfectly!”
Atkinson’s online bio also stated that she and The True Loves have opened for many blues artists including Sue Foley, Chris Duarte, Tinsley Ellis and shared the stage with “living legend” Bob Margolin.
The album starts off with “Sweet Little Pieces,” a melodic downbeat song featuring Atkinson’s smooth vocals, great acoustic guitar, and Cannon Quinn’s tight guitar solos. That smooth and sultry vocal delivery continues on “Let It Go,” another melodic number with tight delivery by Atkinson and her band. “Do You Ever Think About Me” is almost hypnotically melodic with its nod to 1960s surf rock or theme music from Spaghetti Westerns of that same era. “Tired of The Cryin’” recorded with the same set of musicians as “Let It Go” has terrific saxophone from Frank Beardwood and Frank Bowman. “Tired…” is also notable for showing off Atkinson’s vocal range.
Things heat up with “Have A Good Time Tonight,” a rousing swing-style number with the barrelhouse blues piano from Dean Germain. “Ain’t No Sin” is a high-octane rockin’ track with a terrific refrain—There ain’t no sin to rock and roll—along with Thor Stevens’ booming sax. Barrelhouse blues with a New Orleans’ flair makes “Mean Man” a truly memorable tune. Traditional 12-bar blues is on prominent display on “She’s Just A Floozy,” featuring Tomcat Blake’s intricate guitar picking.
“Back To The Livin” is a great live number, performed at the Palladium Theater’s Side Door Cabaret in St. Petersburg, Florida, with awesome guitar by Atkinson and Cannon Quinn.
The Best of Sandy Atkinson is just that—the best of a very talented woman with a tremendous vocal range and a soulful style that will keep listeners coming back for more.

He’s a singer and songwriter who has traveled the world and back with some of the most influential musical artists of our time. He has spent the last several years recording and sharing the stage with musical giants such as Maceo Parker, Al Green, Levon Helm, Richie Havens and Bob Dylan to name a few. He has now put his many years of experience to use as the leader and front man of the Sly Geralds Band. Sly has gathered a group of seasoned professionals to help bring his original music to life. Their style seamlessly blends elements of blues, funk, soul and rock. Sly’s music gives a nod to the masters of roots music while still maintaining a contemporary feel. His time spent in New Orleans has influenced his writing, as has living in New York City for most of his life. The experience of seeing a live performance of the Sly Geralds Band borders somewhere between a rock show, dance party, Mardi Gras parade and tent revival. The rhythm section throws down an infectious groove driven by Sly’s thunderous bass while the guitar and horns soar high above. Sly’s banter with the audience is equally impressive. He cajoles the audience into leaving their workday worries behind and joining him on the dance floor to “shake what their mama gave them! The band is also up to the task when it comes to entertaining the crowd by playing “the hits. You never know when they’ll break into a smoldering version of a “classic song” by Al Green, James Brown, The Rolling Stones or any number of blues, funk, rock or soul standards. The Sly Geralds band makes regular appearances in the hottest clubs in the New York metropolitan area as well as blues festivals around the U.S. and abroad. The Sly Geralds Band is a Rootsy, Blues laden six piece funky horn driven band, whose blend of “the New Orleans sound” meets the “urban funk” of New York City. The Sly Geralds Band’s highly infectious grooves have kept the crowds rocking internationally for the past several years/

"Sandy Atkinson who is based in Tampa Florida, has just released her third album, Million Dollar Baby. The album contains 12 numbers which were all written by Sandy, the songs are performed in an unplugged way.
The album starts off with "Baby Please" which is a very strong melodic piece to which Sandy adds her deep rootsy voice to propel it along. Sandy reminds me of Tracy Nelson as they both posses great big bluesy vocal styles. Even though this is a stripped down kind of album, Sandy still has Saxman Wayne Breadwood, who starts off the lovely "Cook In Your Kitchen" which also has good guitar from Tomcat Blake. Rock Bottom plays some haunting harp on "Come Back To The Livin'", whilst Sandy herself contributes some tasty guitar alongside Richard "Hombre" Price. "Please Don't Feed The Alligators" is a short tale about the kind of food that Alligators like, which Sandy does solo. "Red Hot Mama's & Cool DaddyO's" is a lively piano driven sassy tune, thanks to Henry Burke on piano and Wayne Breadwood on sax. "Little Black Dresses" features Richard Price on bass and dobro. "Cajun Man" brings the album to a close and this is my favourite on the album and no it's not a Cajun song, just a good tale about a Cajun man, which Sandy performs to perfection. "Million Dollar Baby" is a complete album with some very well written songs and at times feels as if it is recorded live at an intimate club" ~ by Dave Thomas/Review date: May 2002

Dancing since I could walk.
As long as I can remember...
Music has always been my Lover
and I have always been a Performer.
As a Songwriter I am all about meaningful lyrics and memorable melodies.
I have been blessed to live a fairy tale existence
of which most folks can only dream.
Conversely, I have also been used, abused
& dashed against the rocks by uncompromising Rhythms.
I have lived the Blues.
But by the grace of God I have survived.
I have traveled the globe. I have freely danced & worked... loved & been loved... wined & dined with celebrities, scholars, politicians, peasants & royalty around the world.
I have seen the best & worst of what Life has to offer and Mankind can do to each other.

BlueBack brings together four musicians with a wealth of history performing in all forms of American music between them. We play blues, jump swing, Americana, roots and jazz with a focus on the classics and a large part of our repertoire are original songs.
Kenny (Dr. K) has been a member of bands in this area from folk to country to punk rockbilliy to blues. He has been a fixture on the blues scene in southern Michigan since he retired from veterinary practice in 2013.After teaching theater and directing plays for Festival Playhouse of Kalamazoo College for 32 years, guitarist/songwriter Ed Menta has returned to music. He counts among his musical heroes B.B. King, Robert Johnson, and Muddy Waters.
Drummer, DeJon Rashaad Allen, joined BlueBack in 2025. He received a BFA and was a percussionist at North Dakota State University and has an MFA in Jazz Studies/Performance at Western Michigan University. He brings energy, versatility and originality to the band.
Bassist Jared "Jaye" Norwood, a native of West Michigan, is also a skilled quitarist. He studied with Lee Heerspink. DeJon and Jaye have had a musical association for several years as JustJaye.Drummer Coot Trammell and bassist, Dan Denov have retired from the band but are featured on BlueBack's first two CDs, BlueBack and BlueBack Revisited Kenny and Ed sing most of the vocals and both compose many of the songs in the BlueBack repertoire. In 2022, Blue Back released a CD of original music recorded at La Luna Studio in Kalamazoo. BlueBack Revisited was released in the fall of 2025.

Ross Neilsen and The Sufferin' Bastartds - Redemption

10. Human Mud - 4:35
11. Bold and Beaten - 8:43

Ross Neilsen and the Sufferin’ Bastards’ album Redemption has one of the most promising sounds in blues today. The band is tight, gritty and full of energy. This is rock n’ roll as it should be; packed so full of blues there’s nearly no discernible difference between the two. Recorded in the heart of the Delta at Zebra Ranch Studio in Coldwater, Mississippi, the album has the swampy hill country influenced fuzz of an overdriven amp cranked to eleven. The album is packed with amplified sound, strong vocals, hard driving percussion and well placed bass lines. Lead singer and guitarist Ross Neilsen wrote seven original tracks and is, if Redemption is any indicator, an expressive and talented lyricist. Lines like “When I’m gone, who’s gonna say my name?”, along with his deep and powerful vocals, give lyrics throughout the 11 tracks an entertaining and valuable worth. Karl Gans on percussion and Shawn Worden on bass round out a powerful trio. The Sufferin’ Bastards largely move beyond the cliché “my baby left me” format and often break out of the twelve bar to create a diverse track list that gives their version of the blues a fresh, powerful feeling. Paying homage to the masters, they include two well made cover tracks from Robert Johnson and Howlin’ Wolf. “Possession” is a bold, rompin’, muddy version of Robert Johnson’s classic. The overdriven slide guitar, loud, growlin’ vocals and fast-paced percussion make this a great cover. Luther Dickinson lends a soulful slide guitar backing to the heartfelt “She Ain’t You”, a song about leaving a good girl for a life on the road. The wonderful Alvin Youngblood Hart lends his skills on lead guitar to the rockin’ devil on my tail “Badlands”. The last track of the album, “Bold and Beaten”, is an extended gritty, ballad-style track full of lamentation and strong guitar riffs, and a wonderful way to end a CD. Overall, this Canadian trio has created a powerful blues album that packs both jumping, hard driving songs and soulful, honest tracks into one CD without compromising their unique sound. Ross Neilsen and the Sufferin’ Bastards are certainly a powerful blues trio that packs a hard driving punch.
