They combine the hilltop steppin\' blues with the delta sound that dominates the blues sounds of yesterday. With the incorporation of a modern improv effort and grooves spattered throughout, Rooster Blues have created a sound effort along the lines of a Jimi Hendrix aspiration; in that the blues should be made personal and reinvented. Jimi called it an Electric Church and Rooster Blues are in attendance.

Good time Blues Music/Pete Davyduck (Dog house Bass) and Graham Ord (Guitar) old brothers in arms in the music business, in a moment of soul searching, had this great idea to go into a recording studio with their Dad's who are also great musicians, and record a bunch of blues tunes together for fun. What transpired was nothing short of fabulous and was all captured on this CD!
The day was divided into 12 one hour slots in which the band learned a song rehearsed it and recorded it! Twelve songs in all. This recording is absolutely live off the floor and there is so much love on this CD you can feel it in the great playing and the fun and laughter which shines through on every track. That's why it's called 'A good day with the Blues'.
The CD then opened up many TV appearances for the guys as well as radio play all over Canada and beyond. If you love the Blues you'll wanna buy two of these.

The great Chicago bluesman Luther Allison lived by a simple philosophy that he was happy to share (“Leave your ego, play the music, love the people”). Now, twenty-three years after Luther’s passing, the great man would surely be thrilled to hear Bernard Allison’s Songs From The Road, and proud to find that his ferociously talented son is sworn to the same mission, bringing soul-soaked, all-guns-blazing blues to audiences who need it more than ever.
Released in January 2020 as a CD/DVD set on Ruf Records, Songs From The Road is a live snapshot so raw and real that hearing it feels like hanging off the security barrier of Dortmund’s Musiktheater Piano club when Bernard and his crack-squad band hit town last October 23rd. With an A-list crew on-hand – and a dynamic mix from industry legend Jim Gaines – this immersive recording catches every last flash of virtuosity, bead of sweat and drop of atmosphere.
Since he embarked on his acclaimed solo career with 1990’s The Next Generation, Bernard’s studio catalogue has been heavy with highlights, and that night in Germany, every fan in the house got something off their wish-list. This prolific songwriter reminded us that his recent output is his strongest to date, with five cuts from last year’s acclaimed Let It Go. But Bernard is happy to embrace his past glories, too, on a setlist that spans from 1998’s Times Are Changing to 2015’s In The Mix – and gives long-standing fans a treat with Let’s Try It Again, borrowed from his father’s classic 1984 album, Life Is A B*tch. You might know the songs – but you don’t know these interpretations. With Bernard leading the lineup on vocals and searing lead guitar, backed by Dylan Salfer (guitar), George Moye (bass), Mario Dawson (drums) and Jose James (sax/percussion), this is a live band whose chemistry lets them stretch out and shake up these classic songs. On Songs From The Road, the result is a glorious exchange of energy between band and crowd – and evidence that Luther’s old philosophy is burning brighter than ever. “Our shows aren’t like going to the movies and staring at the big screen,” Bernard considers. “We’re there for the people to enjoy each other’s stories for the evening.”

Alex Jenkins & The Bombers - Voodoo You

Bitrate: 320K/s
Year: 2014
Time: 53:40
Size: 123,3 MB
Label: Self-Released
Styles: Blues/Rockin' Blues
Art: Front

Tracks Listing:
 1. Voodoo You -  7:14
 2. My Babe Hates All the Things I Do -  4:54
 3. This Ol  Dog -  4:14
 4. Don't You Think I Earned the Right -  4:45
 5. Charlene -  4:32
 6. I Wanna Big Legged Woman -  4:27
 7. Suicide Blues -  3:56
 8. Conversation with Alex - 11:24
 9. Rebel with a Cause -  4:38
10. Give Your Heart to Jesus -  3:32

This is the follow-up album from Alex, Tim and Mike, this time they forsake any embellishments from any other instruments relying solely on guitar, bass and drums. In the intervening two years of these album releases I can safely assure you that the band as a whole have become more confident in the manner of not only their musicianship but their musical direction as well; the pin-point focused song writing and arrangements from Alex has allowed the band to expand and develop into a powerhouse of sound and styles without losing the plot. The album kicks off, with a sparkling and strident wading guitar that towers impressively above the swampy muscular percussion and bass swathed atmosphere of Voodoo You.
They have also finely honed a sound that is wonderfully similar to the early Rockabilly and Blues Sun label releases of the early fifties, with the enthusiastically pounded drum and sweetly twanged guitar of Rebel With A Cause. Also, a pleasing little fifties country twanging, crooning tune is found in This Ol Dog in which a marvellously finger snappin’ languid and mellow feel is achieved; this atmosphere is maintained with the jaunty acoustic, dirty little ditty that is, I Wanna Big Legged Woman. While Don’t You Think I’ve Earned The Right and Charlene are hard crunching low down and dirty blues, where a harshly ringing guitar happily rides over manic and pulverising percussion. The slow burning eleven minute cheating shaggy blonde story that is, Conversation With Alex, delivers some very, very fine slow burning guitar and percussion passages within this sorry tale of woe.

Bluesy vibe with urban Americana influences mixed with generous touches of jazz and folk throughout that offers up songs that speak about life, love, and the human condition. On an otherwise normal day at the age of 19, I found my way into the music store in my hometown many years ago without any preconcieved notions of purchasing anything. Then, before I knew it, I walked out with a Franciscan acoustic guitar and the rest is history.Years have gone by since that day and if I could recover all the hours of sleep lost due to practicing, playing, gigging, recording, I suppose I could reclaim almost a third of my life that I have lived up to this point. Not to mention the money I have spent on gear and guitars! Since that first day I have remained true to my promise to approach a life devoted to playing guitar and at this writing I am even more in love with the challenge of being both a skilled guitarist and a songwriter. My schooling has been mostly by way of manuals, trade magazines, sharing with other musicians, and lessons taken at various times and through standing on many stages over the years playing professionaly. I have, thankfully, been fortunate to play professionaly now for the past 35 years, and I find joy in the fact that I still have a calender with gig dates into the future. The music on The Traveler is a direct connection to all of my experiences in life and the playing of my instrument on The Traveler is a reflection of my devotion to want to keep growing as a guitarist and songwriter. I am so thankful for my fellow musicians who took this journey with me. Also, there is such a debt of gratitude to all the greats who came before and who will come after me. They truly inspire and push the envelopes of thier environments. The concept for this cd was fairly simple. To combine excellence of songwriting with excellence playing our respective instruments. Many, many hours and months went into the making of The Traveler and at the end we believe we have come up with a cd that we can truly be proud of. We wanted to steer away from the 'big production' attitude, but rather offer a cd to the listener that seemed a bit more personal. More of a one on one experience with the artist and the listener. The demand that we put on ourselves, however, to play up to and beyond our abilities was truly great and all of us pushed ourselves to those places of discomfort. We truly desire that anyone who would hear this cd would sense the joy that we had making it and in turn would experience that same joy themselves/Carey Brazil

13. Waitin' for the Wind - 6:05
14. Layin' Down Lincolns - 6:10

Original, atmospheric, acoustic blues steeped in tradition and right up to date.
With “Blue Trash” the Spikedrivers have taken all of their many and highly diverse influences and blended them into something that is uniquely their own. With their roots still firmly in the delta they have managed to create a sound that is traditional, very contemporary and unlike anything you’ve heard before.
The fourteen original tracks showcase their considerable abilities as musicians, songwriters and arrangers. The atmospheric title track consists of no more than vocals, guitar, udu drum and washboard while tractor-driven “The Massey Ferguson Blues” is the other end of the scale. An in-your-face out and out slide guitar stomper.
Guitarist Ben Tyzack is the main vocalist and songwriter but bassist Constance Redgrave and drummer/percussionist Maurice McElroy share lead vocal and song writing duties. Constance with the torchy “You Don’t Care” and “Grampa Was A Moonshiner”, an angry take on her family’s experience of the Depression, and Maurice’s light-hearted takes on modern life, “Where Did The Money Go?” and “Junk Mail Blues”.
Tyzack’s exceptional slide and finger picking guitar work is complemented perfectly by the rock-solid rhythm section of Redgrave and McElroy. These guys have paid their dues and it shows. At the same time they never let the playing get in the way of the songs.
The album was recorded at the Helioscentric studio in East Sussex, UK. An old fashioned 16 track analogue studio with the original desk that Island Records used to record Bob Marley and John Martyn on in the seventies. Their co-producer and sound engineer, Phill Brown, is a legend in his own right having been the Island house engineer during that time and who has recorded just about everybody from the early Rolling Stones to Dido.

Year: 2006
Time: 53:52

Art: Front

Tracks Listing:
 1. Crawl To You - 3:44

 4. Ride All Night - 4:11
 5. Victoria - 4:32

 8. Love's A Gamble - 7:18
 9. Believe In Me - 3:55
10. Why I Love You - 3:47
11. Taxman - 8:23

Edgy guitar driven Blues with a classic Rock feel.
As one of Central Florida’s hardest working musical acts, the three-piece Teague Stefan Band combine elements of blues, rock and funk to create a solid wall of electric guitar-driven sound that can be described as complex, aggressive and pounding: a full-bodied style that gives a subtle nod to power trios of the 70’s and artists from Hendrix to Stevie Wonder that remains refreshingly original and, above all, crowd pleasing.
The band’s repertoire includes the full-length studio album Hard Eight, in which Teague Stefan, the songwriter, vocalist and guitarist for his eponymous three piece group, employs his talents in musicianship and composition. Stefan shows his range on the album, a textured, well-flowing arrangement of numbers such as the bluesy, soulful Love’s a Gamble, the funky, heavy Crawl to You and the blistering Carl Perkins. There is no post-production trickery employed here; Stefan’s guitar is just as, if not more, intricately fiery during the band’s live shows as it sounds on the album.
Indeed, the Teague Stefan Band is at home on stage, delivering with each live performance. Supporting Stefan are bassist Todd Warsing and drummer Dave Marder, accomplished and professional musicians who provide the firm rhythmic foundation for Stefan’s blazing guitar. The members of the band are perfectly synchronized, effortlessly meshing thanks to numerous shows and countless hours of practice. The group has appeared at the Orange Blossom Blues Society show at Hard Rock Universal, twice at George’s Music Springing the Blues, the Lakeridge Winery Blues Festival and at the Orlando Magic Family Day at the Amway Arena. The band continues to perform frequently at various local clubs and bars in the Central Florida area.
Stefan, who has played guitar since the age of seventeen, lists his major influences as Jimi Hendrix, Freddie King, Albert Collins, Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan. He has created his own brand of music that cannot be confined to either blues or rock, as it contains aspects of both (along with funk).
But ultimately the Teague Stefan Band defies an accurate description; seeing the band perform live is perhaps the only way to truly experience their raw, untapped talent. Stefan, Marder and Warsing are entertaining to say the least, with vibrant stage presence that exudes energy and charisma, but these are serious musicians; frontman Stefan exhibits complete control over his guitar, handling even the fastest of songs with effortless precision, flooding the stage with his original, jaw-dropping sound that one must experience live to truly comprehend. Although it’s been said before, it’s true: this is a band you don’t want to miss.

Fourth album from the Californian bluesman and songwriter, now resident in the UK. A mixture of Blues, Folk and Americana, mixed with wry humour. Prodigal Songs is the latest release from Californian Guy Tortora, now transplanted from the USA to the UK. It`s a mixture of original songs and a few choice covers with his unique take on American, blues and folk. Originals include the opening track Big Wheel where a wistful National guitar gets you heading down the highway, Miss You So is a tense and terse blues, That`s Against The Law makes a little nod in the direction of Johnny Cash and Bobby Zimmerman, Willie Dixon is dedicated to the great Chicago bluesman  and Hero of the Blues -- reminiscent of Lowell George and Little Feat, 'Quittin` Time' is a working man`s blues, and the heartfelt 'Prodigal Song' deals with clearing out the house of a parent who has recently passed away.

 9. People Get Ready - 4:30
10. Sharecroppers - 3:23
11. Falling - 6:23
12. Don't Do It - 5:15

Born & raised in Pasadena, California, Guy Tortora is now settled in London, in the UK. He was began playing guitar from the age of 11, and started playing and performing in bands from junior high and high school days in Pasadena, and later around Southern California, soaking up the rich influences of the incredible music scene there in the 60's and 70's when he also travelled widely across the USA and Canada.
What he does as a songwriter and performer is what people like to call Americana these days -- a hard term to define as it seems to mean different things depending on who you're talking to. But if to you it means original songs, well constructed and well performed, in some of the various musical idioms that originated in the USA -- blues, jazz, folk and roots -- and also interpreting the work of other writers in these genres with depth and feeling, then you should check out his work if you haven't already.
Over the last few years he has laid claim to a unique niche on the Blues 'n' Roots scene in the UK and European Continent, from small clubs and theatres to festivals. His two recent solo albums received a warm welcome in the Blues 'n' Roots reviews, a third album was released in 2008 to great acclaim from reviewers and audiences alike. When travelling light, he performs in stripped down acoustic mode either on his own, or accompanied by bass or keyboards. At many UK gigs he appears with the Guy Tortora Band, his own four-piece outfit of accomplished musicians from the UK and Europe. With this band he has performed live with artists as diverse as Eric Clapton, Pee Wee Ellis, John Cleary and Eric Bibb. He has also performed with Paul Jones, host of BBC Radio 2's Rhythm and Blues show, and recorded live sessions for Radio 2 and numerous local stations in the UK and Europe.
Guy is a guitar player of some accomplishment and a talented songwriter. On both acoustic and electric guitars he plays finger style, and is a fine bottleneck and slide player. His playing is not the flashy guitar-slinger style beloved of bluesrockers everywhere, but understated, and leaves room for the songs to make an impact, whether those written from his own unique point of view or the "covers" he performs that include many old standards and traditional tunes as well as songs by more recent American writers such as Eric Bibb or Kreig Viesselman.

I am sure anyone who was a fan of ‘The Producers’ in the past is really glad that the band have reformed. In the new line up, including two new members, Ray on keyboards and Biff on drums, with original members, Harry Skinner, vocals/guitar, and Dave Saunders on bass. This band has the respect of other musicians in the music business, and this is borne out by the guest appearances of Andy Fairweather Low, Paul Lamb and Ben Waters, all adding their particular talent to this great album. It’s hard to say which tracks stand out on this album as they are all so good. Certain tracks I have to mention for special attention “Preservation Blues”, “Coming Back For You”, “Little Miss Sunshine” (great reggae beat with a Beatles riff thrown in), “London Blues” (has a smokey blues feel), and anyone who has a credit card will relate to “The Money Lender”. While “The Wrong Way Home” will strike a chord with the people in the North East as it mentions a local beauty spot !!! Being a fan of this band for many years I know what a hugely talented group they are. This collection of self penned songs beautifully written and performed, reinforces their reputation for quality. This album is well worth adding to anyone’s collection, every song is different and has merit. Five stars in my book. Buy it and try it you won’t be disappointed.

 5. Sweetheart Blues - 4:27
 6. Midnight Lamp - 3:11
 7. Boogie In The Wine - 3:18
 8. Will's Thang (Instrumental) - 2:56

This recording is recorded out of pure love for the Blues, and goes out to all the Blues lovers in this world and world's afar. Also to all those folks in the clubs for digging it before it infested. This early effort by the electric blues guitarist/vocalist Jay Gordon is an intense affair with passionate solos and tight group playing. What is unusual about the set is that the eight selections are all quite concise (only one exceeds four minutes and 24 seconds) and the program is surprisingly brief. However Gordon (who dominates the music) makes every outburst count; he is ably supported by electric bassist Russ Greene and drummer Will Donavan. Highlights include "Voodoo Boogie," "Can't Shake That Feelin'," and "Boogie in the Wine."

After recording his superb 1994 debut, 'Satan's Horn', he almost disappeared into obscurity. By the Fall of 2007 Ray Bailey, the former Blues Wunderkind, a young man who could write his own ticket with an electric guitar, had suffered through a devastating fire and then the subsequent robbery that took all of his music, recorded and composed, his guitars, his artwork and all of his possessions. Overwhelmed, he sank into drug use and depression. In 2008 Ray Bailey successfully completed a drug rehab program. The following year, he recorded a rather mediocre live album. This new record shows him in much better shape. He's writing his own songs. It's not all gold that shines, but he's on a good way. - Digipak. RAY BAILEY - gtr/voc, JEFF McELROY - bass, LAND RICHARDS - drums. SpeciAL guests: MIKAL MAJEED - kbds, DENIS DePOITRE - hca.

In the words of blues prodigy Katie Webster, "Blues Wire are the best blues band in Europe and deserve to be heard by a wider audience". According to everybody who has ever witnessed a Blues Wire gig this band is one of Europe 's best kept blues secrets and they should finally get the chance to be known to blues lovers around the world. The Blues Wire story began in 1983 when Sotiris Zisis (bass) and Elias Zaikos formed Blues Gang (who renamed themselves as Blues Wire in 1985), the very first blues band in Greece that tried to capture the original sounds of blues legends like Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf and T-Bone Walker. They recorded the first blues album ever to be made by Greek musicians, at a time when it was really difficult to play music without obvious roots in Greek culture, let alone get a record deal for it. Back then, playing the blues not only could make someone almost an outcast, but it also meant dealing with shady characters and going through hard times. The only ways for a blues band to go through these times was to be tough, determined and stay true to the spirit that moved them in the first place. It was these qualities that saw Blues Wire rise from a struggling blues band to full-grown, seasoned artists with their own distinctive sound. Thousands of gigs in every kind of venue imaginable, scores of TV and radio show appearances in Greece as well as abroad and an enviable recording expertise have helped define their tight and recognizable sound, a mix of passion and maturity that only comes with experience. Playing festivals and clubs in countries like France , Italy , Austria and Hungary (among others) not only consolidated their reputation but also proved that they are long past the novelty aspect of being a blues band coming from Greece . Their infectious live act has captured the minds and the hearts of audiences everywhere and has earned them many an enthusiastic press reviews all around Europe . Through the years Blues Wire have often backed up top blues artists such as Louisiana Red, Katie Webster, John Hammond, Larry Garner, Big Time Sarah, Carey and Lurrie Bell, Angela Brown, Big Jay McNeely, Al Copley and Jeanne Carroll, to mention a few, proving they can keep up with the best of them. They have also opened for legendary musicians like Buddy Guy, James Cotton, Albert King, Otis Rush, the Yardbirds and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Their skill and musicianship led to memorable jam sessions with blues pioneers like Champion Jack Dupree, rising stars like Sherman Robertson and well-known British blues players like Dave Kelly. The band's versatility and open hearted attitude brought up spontaneous performances together with many musicians of different styles, ranging from Brit-jazzer Dick Heckstall-Smith to Australian songwriter Louis Tillett and from Canvey Island R&B masters Doctor Feelgood to members of Osibisa. Blues Wire has provided the foundation of the Greek blues scene and the main inspiration for many younger musicians. For five years they were the house band at Pararlama, the first and most famous blues club in Greece . After a career spanning more than twenty years, Blues Wire are now busier than ever. Spanning yet another mark in their long career, their last studio album showcases a more varied, elaborate and eclectic sound.
Blues Wire may have moved on to another level but their essence remains intact.

Marcus King’s El Dorado features lots of fun, 70s-inspired blue-eyed soul that’s perfectly entertaining on its own. However, as you learn more about King and about the album, its direction becomes more and more interesting. For one thing, despite his rich, textured voice, King is just 23-years-old. And King is considered a guitar hero, something that doesn’t jump out from the measured but well-produced album which has solidly tasteful guitar playing, but not a lot of fretboard fireworks. It’s only upon learning that the album is produced and co-written by the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach that everything starts to make sense.
Because together Auerbach and King make an impressive team. Auerbach is a prolific producer (I’m officially worried he’s not getting enough sleep), with a distinct perspective. While some producers melt into the background of their artists’ work, Auerbach takes a more collaborative approach, sharing some of himself in the tracks. That works well for King, giving him strong songs on which to focus his considerable vocal energies. The end-product is tunes that often sound like Turn Blue-era Black Keys with a better vocalist.
Which isn’t to say El Dorado is a Black Keys reboot with a more soulful vocalist. It’s more that King’s vocal talent allows the two artists to more directly explore their source material. King doesn’t have to be inspired by 70s soul and then figure out how to make it work for his voice; he can just take it as-is. A perfect example of this is “One Day She’s Here.” If the song sounds like anything, it’s Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy.” And with its strings and clavinet, it sounds even funkier than that. But King is able to jump right into the track and nail the vocal, because the genre is a perfect fit for his voice.
“Too Much Whiskey” has a different kind of 70s sound, this one more rooted in country-rock, but with a decidedly Rod Stewart/Faces kind of flair. That particular comparable arises both out of King’s voice, which shares a Stewart-esque grit, but also from the electric piano, courtesy of Bobby Wood, who channels Faces keyboardist Ian McLagan.
In fact, for an album made by two guitarists, El Dorado is well-seasoned with beautiful piano work. “Break,” is a Keys-esque slow jam with lots of lovely touches, like strings and a restrained King vocal. But it is built upon Mike Rojas’ perfectly simple piano, that sketches the outlines of the song, letting the rest of the band fill things in.
El Dorado is straight-forward soul, although there are some rock moments sprinkled throughout the record (“Turn It Up” rocks especially hard), but the pleasure of the album is that while King and Auerbach are fairly rooted in the album’s chosen genre, there are enough pleasant surprises, like strings and up-front guitars, to make the album feel new and contemporary. This is a Marcus King album but it’s very much a collaboration, with Auerbach and King bringing out the best in each other. (https://bluesrockreview.com/2020/01/marcus-king-el-dorado-review.html)
