 8. Really Down - 4:06
 9. It Ain't There - 3:01
10. Last Chance Saloon - 3:40

The Delgado Brothers self-titled debut effort comes off more like polished blues-pop compared to their late-'90s and early-2000s blues tunes with a Latin beat sound. Steve Delgado's vocals on "Where Do I Stand" sound like a sweetened Julio Cesar Rojas, whereas "It Ain't There" is more of a slow pop love ballad.

Romping Blues. Delta to Contemporary. Featuring some of the best known studio musicians in the recording business/
B. Christopher, like most composers, is not a household name. However, if you own a television, you have probably heard his music. With over 3,000 placements annually, on virtually every channel, it would be difficult not to hear his work.
Like most studio musicians, his time is consumed recording. That is not to say he is a stranger to the stage. He toured extensively throughout North America for twenty years. While on a break from the road in 2002, he was contacted by the music director of ABC's "All My Children" looking for blues music. According to Christopher, "it was just the right place at the right time." As the opportunities continued to grow in the studio, it became clear that the focus needed to move strictly to recording. Inevitably, the hundreds of sessions would evolve into albums.
The balance between melody, technique, composition and improvisation is not an easy one to strike. But when listening to Christopher, one would think otherwise. With an innate sense of melody, his musical offerings are sure to please even the most discerning palate. It is these qualities that helped attract some of the biggest studio musicians in the business to his work. Names like Nathan East, Anton Fig, Gerald Albright, Shawn Pelton, Michael Powers, Andy Snitzer, Stu Hamm, Kenny Aronoff, Bruce Katz, and Jerry Portnoy have all lent their talents to his recordings.
It's been a steady evolution from the smoky blues clubs that shaped the soul of an extraordinary player into the polished session musician we hear today. In a world filled with talented musicians, there are a rare few that stand apart from the rest. For an artist to honestly tell their story, technical prowess is not enough. The real story is in the soul and conviction with which one tells it with. Christopher is one of the rare few that delivers the complete package.

 8. Lonely Sunset - 4:14
 9. Love Sane - 3:03
10. Somewhere Between - 3:39

The long-awaited new studio album. For the recordings, Tito Larriva chose a studio near his hometown. He grew up in El Paso, Texas, and always wanted to record in this studio called Sonic Ranch, less than an hour away. He thought it would be fun to be near his dad while recording the new album. Larriva drew energy from his father, the desert, and all the magical moments he carries in his heart. From what he calls home. 8 Arms To Hold You captures the colors and smells of the desert, it's passionate and romantic. Along with Tito's electrifying vocals, another masterpiece in his long and successful career as a musician, composer, and actor. Tito & Tarantula is the US-American Chicano rock/blues rock band formed in Hollywood, California in 1992 by singer/songwriter/guitarist Tito Larriva, best known for its songs, "After Dark", "Back to the House That Love Built", "Strange Face of Love", and "Angry Cockroaches", as well as for its role in Robert Rodriguez's film From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) as the band performing at the Titty Twister nightclub. "After Dark" was the track played during Salma Hayek's iconic exotic dance scene in that film, and later became the theme for From Dusk Till Dawn.

Tracks Listing:
 1. One More Time - 5:00
 2. Dirty Shame - 4:07

 4. Testify - 4:47
 5. Drowning Man - 5:08
 6. Pride & Joy - 4:34

 8. Ball & Chain - 6:32
 9. Heart For Rent - 4:16
10. Yesterday Man - 4:06
11. Redline Cause - 4:49

The difficulty, is trying to say something about Marcus Malone that hasn't been said before. In short, he is a fabulous singer, an excellent songwriter and a mean guitarist. He is also a great performer, who has the ability to charm and entertain his audience. Not only does he have good pipes, but surrounds himself with solid players too. "In a better world, "One More Time" would be a hit. It's certainly radio-ready. But then, so is the entire album." - Blues Review. The Marcus Malone Band continues to impress, and, all through, there is a demonstration of great power, energy and sheer brilliance. I'd recommend this CD to those who like Gary Moore's better forays into the blues.

Reaching number 13 on the Australian blues roots charts and gaining radio play both in Australia and Internationally. In 2017 the full length album Rhythm and Rust was released, once again to a swag of positive reviews, press in the UK Fireworks Magazine and Dutch Blues Magazine as well as gaining international radio play and inspiring several fan videos.  8. Battleship Chains - 3:08
 9. I'm a One Woman Man - 2:18
10. Vigilante Man - 2:56

Musicians:
Warren Zevon - Vocals, Guitar;
Peter Buck - Guitar;
Mike Mills - Bass;
Bill Berry - Drums.

In 1990, Warren Zevon was a grizzled veteran of the L.A. singer-songwriter scene with a career rap sheet long enough to fit a couple of comebacks and a stint in rehab, while the guys in R.E.M. were comparative upstarts, still breaking out of college radio and into the mainstream. But despite the gulf of experience between them — and their very different styles of music — they'd developed an on-again, off-again working relationship that lasted for much of the '80s.
Although most Zevon fans would be unaware of his R.E.M. association until the band members appeared on his 1987 album Sentimental Hygiene, their relationships dated back to the early '80s, when Zevon went through a period of personal and professional turmoil after the disappointing commercial showing of his 1982 LP The Envoy. Without a record deal and battling addiction, Zevon fell out of the limelight for several years, during which the bulk of his musical activity came on the concert stage — including some shows as part of a loosely organized R.E.M. side project dubbed the Hindu Love Gods.
A low-profile collective based around R.E.M. drummer Bill Berry, guitarist Peter Buck and bassist Mike Mills, the band's early lineup also featured Bryan Cook, a fellow native of Athens, Ga., on keyboards and vocals. Zevon's first show with the Gods took place in early 1984. Later that year, he joined the band in the studio for what was supposed to be a one-off single, a cover of the Easybeats' "Gonna Have a Good Time Tonight." Reflecting the project's fairly shambolic nature, the seven-inch — backed with a recording of the band running through Berry's "Narrator" — didn't even see release until 1986.
As Zevon later explained, although the band gave him some focus during a time when he probably needed as much of it as he could get, it was never really a priority. "I've known those guys for years," he told the Los Angeles Times. "My manager for eight years, Andrew Slater, met Peter Buck when they were both in school at Emory University in Georgia. Anyway, the Hindu Love Gods thing was just this spontaneous, unplanned thing." Fittingly, when the band resurfaced years later, it was on the spur of the moment after Berry, Buck, and Mills finished tracking their parts for Sentimental Hygiene. With hours of studio time already booked, they did what musicians tend to do when left to their own devices. "We had an extra day," Zevon explained during an interview with Goldmine. "We finished ahead of schedule. We had a month of studio time to do the album and we finished ahead of time, so we did the Hindu jam session deal. We did it in one day."
The "jam session deal," as Zevon described it, found Zevon leading the band through a series of covers — mostly blues standards like "Crosscut Saw" and "Junko Pardner" with a smattering of newer numbers sprinkled in, like the Georgia Satellites' "Battleship Chains" (written by Southern cult songwriting hero Terry Anderson) and Prince's "Raspberry Beret." "It took about as long to do as it takes to listen to it," Berry told Q. "Warren would go, 'It's in E, here's the tempo, when I shake my head like this we'll stop.' It was all done first or second take, over in a couple of hours." Although the results were preserved for posterity, none of the musicians involved gave a second thought to actually releasing the recordings as an album, and they stayed in the vaults for several years — until Slater, seeking a new deal for Zevon after his brief association with Virgin ended following 1989's Transverse City, decided to dangle the Hindu Love Gods as a carrot for a contract with Giant – a new label founded by Zevon's former manager, Irving Azoff. The "band's" self-titled album, released Oct. 5, 1990, came as a surprise to Berry, Buck, and Mills — and not an entirely welcome one. "We never thought it would be a real record – we didn't think anyone would have the balls to put it out," insisted Mills. "We didn't think about it for another three years, then all of a sudden his manager decided he wanted to make a record out of it."
At this point, R.E.M. had a far higher profile than Zevon, and his presence on a band-affiliated album was a solid career move that produced a minor Modern Rock hit with their version of "Raspberry Beret." He seemed painfully aware, however, of the tensions the Hindu Love Gods record placed on his relationship with Berry, Buck, and Mills. "We ultimately would have preferred it not come out at all, I think. It sold for like a dollar," Zevon protested. "I didn't have anything to do with the packaging or anything. They [R.E.M] think I'm exploiting them, and I think they resented [that], but it has nothing to do with any of us. I told my manager, 'This is all yours. I don't want to see it; I don't want to argue about it; I don't want to hear about it. Whatever you want, whatever you're gonna do, it's up to you.'" Berry admitted that Zevon "kind of borrowed the name Hindu Love Gods, took it for what he could – and I don't blame him. He's a great guy, good luck to him. I'm not as fond of his management, though. It got a bit ridiculous: They were making demands on us. They wanted us to do videos and stuff, and we we were saying, 'Come on, this was done as a drunken thing!' Sentimental Hygiene came out four years ago – now they're saying we're sabotaging his career by not cooperating at this point!"
In the end, the Hindu Love Gods album proved a likable oddball stiff — the kind of record hardcore fans might seek out and a few stray listeners might take a flyer on, but one that never generated any real sales traction, topping out at No. 168 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. And ultimately, it didn't offer much of a leg up for Zevon's next effort, Mr. Bad Example, which failed to chart when it arrived the following October.
As with many of the collaborative relationships Zevon drifted through during his often brilliant career, his time working with the members of R.E.M. wasn't destined to last. But while the Hindu Love Gods experience might have left a somewhat sour aftertaste, it didn't dim the respect Zevon's younger bandmates had for him as an artist — or put a pall on their memories of their time goofing around in the studio.
"Not only was he a tremendously gifted singer, songwriter, guitarist and pianist, but he was just a fun guy. He was really smart, and he really knew how to look at life with kind of a crooked view. I consider us very lucky for being able to have worked with him, but even luckier that we got to know him," Mills later told the Huffington Post. "You need somebody to say things in the way that Warren said them. There are enough sweet love songs. It's good to have a little cynicism too."

Ghalia - Mississippi Blend

Bitrate: 320K/s
Year: 2019
Time: 42:22
Size: 97,6 MB
Label: Ruf Records
Styles: Blues/Blues Rock
Art: Front

Tracks Listing:
 1. Gypsy Lady - 3:58
 2. Meet You Down the Road - 4:37
 3. Squeeze - 3:23
 4. First Time I Died - 3:32
 5. Lucky Number - 3:32
 6. Wade in the Water - 4:24
 7. Drag Me Down - 3:38
 8. Shake & Repeat - 4:11
 9. Release Me - 4:41
10. Why Don't You Sell Your Children - 4:01
11. I Thought I Told You Not to Tell Them - 2:21

Belgium-born blues powerhouse Ghalia will be releasing Mississippi Blend through Ruf Records on September 20th. This eleven-song album, a worthy follow-up to her attention-getting 2017 break-out release Let The Demons Out, will surely put an even brighter spotlight on this young artist’s development as a songwriter in addition to her obvious vocal and guitar talents. If you’re going to take on the challenge of “blending” all the music that sweeps down the length of the Mississippi, from country to blues to rock and even a little punk rock, you’re going to need some serious back-up, and Ghalia is smart enough to enlist some of the most talented & respected players around for this mighty effort. Cody Dickinson and Cedric Burnside seamlessly split drumming duties and Lightnin’ Malcolm adds some incredibly heavy guitar tracks on this album. Throw in some duets and harmonica from Watermelon Slim and you’ve definitely stacked the musical deck in your favor. Album-open “Gypsy Lady” presents listeners with all the elements they should expect to hear throughout the album: toe-tappin’ rhythm, an insistent central riff and some sly & knowing lyrics delivered in the key of “sultry & dangerous.” The beat gets slower and swampier on “Meet You Down the Road,” which matches the heavier tone of this one’s tragedy-tinged lyrics and moaning harmonica break. Reminding listeners that she is also about having a good time, Ghalia and the band then roll out “Squeeze,” a fun and feisty tune and continues the tradition of naughty lyrics masquerading as something much more innocent. There is plenty of intensity still left in the bottle though. A buzzy and fierce central riff opens and anchors “First Time I Died” holding down the tune and giving Ghalia room for an especially emotive vocal line, punctuated by some tasty guitar licks filling in the gaps. The equally driving “Lucky Number” gets additional power by some snaking and impressive harmonica work throughout, finally setting up album stand-out track “Wade in the Water.” This duet with the peerless Watermelon Slim cuts about as close to the blues bone as anyone is going to get in 2019. Whether born in Belgium or Birmingham, you’re not going to hear anything more authentic this year. The lyric-driven “Drag Me Down” is a front-runner for anyone looking for an anthem to believing in themselves and never giving up the fight. This upbeat two-stepper is then taken to another level by a spot-on harmonica break. The band stays in top gear while lightening the mood in the good-timin’ “Shake & Repeat” with the guitar sounding as dirty as the innuendo on this one. Slowing the tempo, like the band does on “Release Me,” once again gives Ghalia the space for an especially impressive vocal workout to compliment some more harmonica magic. In a bit of social commentary and satire that would make Jonathan Swift jealous, in “Why Don’t You Sell Your Children,” Ghalia addresses the rapidly falling standards of honor and integrity in a world powered almost exclusively by short-sighted greed. This is some furious societal criticism with a furious instrumental section in the middle to match. Ghalia and the band go out on a high-powered and big-fun note with the goofy grooves of “I Thought I told You Not To Tell Them,” a wild and wooly blues-rockin’ workout with some of the tightest playing on the album. You’ll be playing this album much more than just once.

Recorded over a 40-year period, …took a while includes four newly-recorded band tracks, plus a recent live solo piano piece. The story of this album of all-original material, is deeply intertwined between Mike Duke’s life as a professional musician and former Huey Lewis & the News manager, Bob Brown, the driving force behind this album’s release. It was Brown who recognized Duke’s talents as a singer and songwriter in the early 1980s and set Mike on a path that led up to this album. The four newly-recorded tracks on …took a while showcase Mike Duke’s southern soul vocals and piano work backed by a host of all-star guest musicians, including Elvin Bishop, Kid Andersen, Jim Pugh and Angela Strehli. For “Let Me Be Your Fool Tonight,” Northern California faves, The Zydeco Flames, bring the appropriate Louisiana sound and backing feel to the music. “Nicasio,” the solo piano piece that closes the album, was recently recorded at Rancho Nicasio, the San Francisco Bay Area roadhouse restaurant and nightclub owned by Bob Brown, where Duke has been the house band leader for almost two decades.
“Mike Duke entered my life in 1981 by way of a cassette recording sent to my office in Mill Valley, California, by a music publisher in Los Angeles,” relates Bob Brown in the liner notes. “There were four songs by different writers, one being ‘Hope You Love Me Like You Say You Do,” written and sung by Mike. That original ‘demo tape’ featured here, has a vocal performance that blew me away. I called Huey Lewis, as we were looking for material for his second album, asked him to come by, ‘now’ to hear this song and ……. it was in the Top Forty on the Billboard chart in June of 1982.
“I got Mike’s phone number and asked him to send some more tunes. After returning from a road trip, there was another cassette on my desk that included ‘Let Her Go and Start Over,’ also eventually recorded by Huey Lewis & the News. This is the ultimate break-up song and my marriage happened to be in the midst of ending; I had to meet this guy! Another tune, ‘Doin’ It All for My Baby,’ was written a bit later and became a big hit in 1987 (*6 in Billboard) for the band. Those three original songs as I heard them are here to share with you.”
On the vintage tracks, none of which have been released before, Mike Duke employed a collection of superb players over the years, many of whom were in the Southern rock milieu that Duke was an integral part of during his time in the South. Most of the tracks presented here are in their original demo form, including the three covers by Huey Lewis & the News.
On the original version of “Hope You Love Me Like You Say You Do,” heard here for the first time, Duke is joined by his fellow members of the group, Wet Willie as it was in 1980: Jimmy Hall – sax, backing vocals; Larry Berwald – guitar; and Jack Hall – bass. The drummer on this track, who also appears throughout many of the other songs on the album, was Bill Stewart, who interestingly enough was the original drummer in Wet Willie before becoming a Capricorn Records mainstay in groups such as Cowboy and the Gregg Allman band.
“That’s What So Good About the South,” Mike’s tribute to all-things-Southern, was originally pitched by Duke to the great Dr. John; and one listen to the tune confirms it would have been a perfect song for him. That track was co-produced by former Allman Brothers Band guitarist Jack Pearson, who also plays guitar on it.
Mike also explains that, ”Coming Round Again,” Duke’s heartfelt paean to the end of a relationship, was originally pitched to Gregg Allman after his break-up with Cher. The earliest recorded track on this project, it was produced in 1977 by noted Southern rock producer Paul Hornsby (The Marshall Tucker Band, Charlie Daniels Band) at his Muscadine Studios in Macon, Georgia.
Gary Michael Duke was born October 18, 1948, in Mobile, Alabama. He learned to play music by ear on a piano his mother had in the house. Mike was a member of several bands in high school, and sang and wrote for a black church in the area. The song “Torn & Scarred,” written in 1969 and newly-recorded for this collection, is a perfect example of Mike’s gospel roots.
In 1974, Mike hooked up with fellow Mobile brethren Wet Willie and made his first appearance on record with them for their Capricorn Records breakout album, Keep on Smilin’, and title track hit single. He next appeared on their 1975 follow-up, Dixie Rock, before joining the band full-time later that year. Mike would go on to record on two more Wet Willie albums for Capricorn before the band moved on to Epic Records for two releases. Several of Mike’s songs were recorded on those albums as well. Mike later also had a brief stint with The Outlaws.
In 1983, Bob Brown convinced Mike to move to the West Coast. He became a known entity in the San Francisco Bay Area music scene immediately, hooking up with other songwriters and just by engaging everyone he meets. During this time he also opened an East Coast tour on solo piano for Huey Lewis & the News.
After spending several years as the lead singer/keyboardist of The Solid Senders, the house band at Slim’s nightclub in San Francisco, he joined Delbert McClinton’s band as a featured member for most of the ‘90s, and since Delbert was based in Nashville, Mike relocated there.
When Bob Brown purchased an old country roadhouse, Rancho Nicasio, in 1998, he asked Mike if he was ready to return to the West Coast, and Mike once again became a fixture in Northern California. He is not only a prominent member of the Rancho All-Stars at the roadhouse; Mike manages their General Store as well!

UK blues harp star Giles Robson makes his US recording debut with his new album Don’t Give Up On The Blues, which hits the ground on this side of the pond September 20th, 2019 on the American Showplace Music label. Robson is a Blues Music Award-winning artist who is widely considered to be one of the finest living blues harmonica specialists. He’s only the third UK artist to win a BMA, the other two being Eric Clapton and Peter Green. Robson has become a headliner in Russia, Spain, France, Italy, and everywhere else European fans love great blues music.
Don’t Give Up On The Blues marks Robson’s entry into the American music scene as a solo artist and he clearly means to have his way with it. Backed by BMA-winning keyboardist Bruce Katz and his blistering band, the record is a collection of 12 roof-raising original tracks that walk an entertaining line between classic and contemporary blues. Katz, Robson, and Ben Elliott co-produced and did an excellent job capturing Robson’s live vibe and roadhouse warrior presence. The tracks all groove hard and are full of many freewheeling, unforced performances from everyone involved. All of the musicians put their own modern energy underneath the timeless influences they’re invoking and the end product is an outstanding blues record without any dead spots.
“Land To Land” opens the record with a strong signature riff shared by Robson and guitarist Aaron Lieberman and a tough medium-speed pocket. From the first notes he blows, Robson becomes part of that pocket with the band rather than floating on top of it like many other harp players do. It makes all the difference. Whether riffing or soloing, Robson stands tall in the groove and plays off of the others in the most wonderful way. His vocals are gruff and engaging and suit his style well. The track simply works and Robson keeps turning this deceptively simple-sounding trick throughout the album.
The title track, “Don’t Give Up On The Blues,” is a crisp rumpty-rump shuffle that affords Robson some space to stretch and develop his licks while lyrically preaching on the healing power of this music. Katz’s pumping piano really propels the song and serves as a good textural contrast to Robson’s fat harp sound. “Damn Fool Way” is a tom tom-driven Bo Diddley beat topped with lyrics telling the story of a repentant man who knows he lost his love by acting the fool. It’s an emotive and hypnotic song and Robson turns in some of his best playing on it.
“Fearless Leaders” is a low-down slow blues that offers some hard-nosed social commentary along with the music and Robson handles it well, wondering out loud if it’s us or those in charge who are the bigger fools. Expressing these kinds of present-day sentiments does much to keep the blues relevant, prevents it from becoming “museum music,” and should be encouraged. It keeps the blues off of life support in a much more profound way than rewriting fifty-year-old songs ever will. Other can’t-miss cuts include the funky “Hey, Hey Now” and the epic slow-burn closing song “Way Past Midnight.”
Giles Robson is a huge talent whose reputation will only grow in the next few years. He has a gorgeous harp tone, an individual style, and writes better songs than many of his peers. Blues fans should expect to hear a lot about him in the near future because Don’t Give Up On The Blues is going to kick open some doors.

13. Guitar Man - 5:10

While the Gales brothers have played together all of their lives, this remains the first time they've ever recorded together in a good studio. Recorded at House of Blues Studios in Memphis, it was produced by David Z., who has also worked with Prince and Big Head Todd and the Monsters. The Gales Brothers, all born and raised in the same house in Memphis, have all forged their own musical paths in the rock and blues world, but when the three get together for a live performance or a studio outing, a treat is in store for the blues guitar aficionado. Eric and Eugene formed the Eric Gales Band, while Manuel (b. Dec. 4, 1968) took the stage name Little Jimmy King (after Jimi Hendrix and Albert King). King has recorded three albums for the Bullseye Blues/Rounder label, Little Jimmy King and the Memphis Soul Survivors, Something Inside of Me, and Soldier For The Blues. Eric, however, was the first family member to break out; at age 15, he signed his first recording contract and released two albums, The Eric Gales Band and Picture of a Thousand Faces. By 1991, the critics were calling him the next guitar prodigy; Gales won a poll in Guitar World magazine as "Best New Talent," appeared several times on The Arsenio Hall Show, and found some prominent fans in Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Mick Jagger. As a unit, the Gales Brothers released one album, Left Hand Brand, on the House of Blues/Private Music label in March, 1995. Although House of Blues has since formed an alliance with another label and Private Music was consolidated into another unit of BMG, the record should still be available.  It a good mixture of rock and blues with a heavy emphasis on the guitar.  This is a must have album for fans of Little Jimmy King or the Eric Gales Band and fans of guitar-based blues rock are sure to be satisfied.

Sonny landreth - Elemental Journey

 5. Passionola - 5:22

 8. Brawe New Girl - 4:58
 9. Forgotten Story - 3:33
10. Reckless Beauty - 3:24
11. Opening Sky - 3:48

Sonny Landreth is known for his brilliant Mississippi and Louisiana-styled slide guitar playing, and he's a pretty good songwriter as well, and he can sing just fine, and he has a strong sense of place and purpose, and he knows how to play the blues. But most of all, Landreth plays guitar, and he does it so elegantly and gracefully that it becomes a voice of its own. Elemental Journey is Landreth's 11th solo album, and it's his first all-instrumental outing, and folks, this isn't a blues album. It's a wonderfully bright, woven mesh of blues, strings, rock, zydeco, country, reggae, and jazz that shifts and turns and builds within each track, and all of it fits seamlessly together like a huge musical quilt made for guitar heaven. Track after track surprises and amazes here, from the opening "Gaia Tribe," which features guest Joe Satriani on guitar, through the stirring "Heavy Heart Rising" and the joyous "Wonderide" and "Passionola" (this one features Eric Johnson on guitar) to the Caribbean shuffle of "Forgotten Story," complete with steel drums from Robert Greenidge. Members of the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra are here, too, and the touches of violins, cellos, and violas that appear and fade appropriately throughout these tracks keep everything fresh, and there's always some new guitar line coming in. This is a wonderfully bright album, stirring and impressive. This man can play guitar, and while his one-of-a-kind slide playing may always be his bread and butter, he shows clearly in these tracks that he can play the instrument in a thousand different ways. This isn't a typical Landreth album by any means, at least not to date, but it is one of his best.

Samantha Fish - Kill or Be Kind

 8. Dream Girl - 4:15
 9. She Don’t Live Around Here - 5:45
10. Dirty - 3:27
11. You Got It Bad - 3:21

Stripped back Blues Rock opener ‘Bullet Proof’ is just part of the story of the new album from genre-bending and genre-blending guitarist, singer, and songwriter Samantha Fish. It’s a great song and certainly one to make you sit up and listen but ‘Kill Or Be Kind,’ released on 30th August, has so much more variety. You have of course already had a couple of tasters in the form of the singles ‘Watch It Die’ which really showcase’s Fish’s pipes and guitar work; and the slow simmer to sizzle of ‘Love Letters’, a song that seems to be built for the slow build and solo that burns at the end of it. Recorded at Royal Studios in Memphis and produced by three-time Grammy winner Scott Billington and mixed by two-time Grammy winner Steve Reynolds, Fish’s latest sounds great and if you wanted to pigeonhole it I guess then Blues and Roots is as close as we’ll get. Best of the lot just might be ‘You Got It Bad (Better Than You Ever Had)’ a wonderful blues rocker a song awash with guitars and sporting a chunky solo that hits the nail right on the head. There’s plenty of competition though, and variety too – the stylish Rhythm and Blues of ‘ Trying Not To Fall in Love With You’ sounds class to us, as does ‘She Don’t Live Here Anymore’ which has an even more pronounced Soul edge beneath the country guitar. Then there’s the punky proto-Rock and Roll of ‘Love Your Lies’ and right at the other end of the scale the gentle lilting country-tinged  ballad ‘Dream Girl.’ In truth though after repeated listens the Beatles-like opening to the gentle Blues of ‘Farewell My Fair Weather’ is just pipped by closer ‘You Got It Bad’ for line honours…

The debut album for the Matt Joiner Band. Released August 28, 2012. All songs Written and Recorded by the Matt Joiner Band. Mixed and Mastered at John Keane Studios in Athens, Ga. Cover Photo and Design by Gary Kufner.
Find a nurse that worked the graveyard shift in the maternity ward at St. Mary's Hospital on June 18, 1982 and she probably won't have a bad to the bone story to tell about young Matt Joiner. How were they to know the crying baby would become the second most famous guitarist to call Madison County his first home? The pride of Colbert, Georgia, in fact. Joiner's music blends slick licks and gritty narratives informed by the hot dogs at Billy Meadows Station on Highway 72 and the solemn Sunday sermons of Brother Pike, in a place his teenage hands helped build called Little Bethlehem. Seriously.
That was back when...way back when. Before his hair grew past the eyes to hide his face and before his Chuck T's needed duct tape to survive. His Dad taught him a few chords. A music teacher at school(Doyle Lightfoot), a thumb-picking guitarist in the style of Chet Atkins, taught him a few more. Sneaked listens of Rick Dees Top 40 introduced him to secular music. Then he spent a few years listening to some Stevie Ray Vaughan, repairing broken cars from Japan, playing guitar, and little else. Fast forward to 2012: With a rock solid rhythm section (drummer Mark Turiano and bassist Clay Hinson) The Matt Joiner Band is a cocksure power trio touring the southeast relentlessly, in support of their impressive indepently released solo debut album Back When, a critically acclaimed blues-rock scorcher produced by John Keane (REM, Cowboy Junkies, Widespread Panic). He's also an in-demand special guest having shared the stage with the likes of Rollin' Home, Clay Leverett & Friends, The Rattlers, Drivin' n' Cryin' and the legendary Geoff Achison. The Athens, Georgia-based band has one foot in the garage with their sights set on arenas coast to coast. In the meantime, they'll play at your club and remind everyone to drink up, and tip the bartenders.

Supersonic Blues Machine may have slipped under the radar of casual rock fans, but most will have heard some of their members’ sounds and influences on other recordings. Drummer Kenny Aronoff and multi-instrumentalist and producer Fabrizio Grossi return with newcomer Kris Barras rounding out the core trio. On Road Chronicles: Live!, they select a few of their own live cuts, forming an album comprised of a few of the band’s originals and a couple of blues classics, capturing the energy and joy of great live blues rock.
“I’m Done Missing You” briefly flirts with reggae rhythm before quickly sliding into the thick rock sounds that form the tone of the album. Filled with lush amplified guitars and full voicings from the drums and backing vocals, Supersonic Blues Machine flex some sonic muscle. “I Ain’t Fallin’” is a solid song that also displays prominent backing vocals and pulsing blues harp.
“Remedy” may strike a resonant chord with Allman Brothers fans. The similar message and musical themes of “Soulshine” are audible here, which isn’t surprising considering that Warren Haynes had a pen in the inkwell on this tune. The dual guitars in unison towards the end of the instrumental break serve as the high point of the song, but the memorable lyrics and uplifting tone will likely be what goads listeners into hitting the repeat button. “Watchagonnado” departs from the preceding tunes, opting to get the funk out with a clavinet driven groove that works nicely with “Elevate” as the two offerings that push a bit outside of the blues rock base. On “Elevate,” backing vocals find their way forward, vying with heavy, spacey synths that quickly morph into throbbing guitars. However, nothing on this track compares to Aronoff’s drum break. The last six selections are passioned renditions of a few blues classics with some help from Billy Gibbons. Gibbons and Supersonic Blues Machine effortlessly meld together as if Gibbons were a full-time band member. This is far more cohesive than a standard pairing of band and guest musician. The biggest tonal difference lies in the exchange of Barras’ largely clean, but lived-in vocals for the unmistakable Gibbons growl. “Broken Heart” blends the Supersonic Blues Machine and ZZ Top sounds into a thumping rocker. “Running Whiskey,” concise and driving, is another candidate for multiple listenings. Road Chronicles closes with a version of “Going Down” that rivals that of the late Freddie King. Keys, harmonica, guitars, backing vocals….everyone gets to have a say on this one.
Road Chronicles: Live! is enjoyable and fun. The musicianship is masterful, never formulaic. The songs stretch enough for creative playing and ideas, but they don’t drag. Both the original pieces and the covers create a backbone for strong ventures into great modern blues rock. Sometimes the passion and spontaneity of great musicians can’t be fully expressed in a studio album. This live grouping should get listeners marking their calendars for the next time Supersonic Blues Machine comes to town.

The group’s new album All It Takes greets the world September 13th, 2019 on the Triple Coil Music label. The record is a tight nine-song statement meant to speak to the Searching Generation and speak, it does. It uses a tough blues/rock sound to give meaningful insights into pain, longing, and current events and the reactions they provoke. The Blue Poets is a four-man crew led by virtuoso guitarist Marcus Deml who received the “Guitar Hero Award” from the magazine Guitar, and includes vocalist Gordon Grey, drummer Felix Dehmel, and bassist Phil Steen. Together, they make rock music that avoids the typical clichés, perfectly blends edge and melody, and has an obvious originality to it. Grey is a gruff and powerful singer who fits this music well and delivers excellent performances throughout All It Takes. In that darkest and most foul of years, 2016, Jared Deck released his first album. Yes, even though the year featured a whole lot of death (including that of democracy and dignity), it was actually an excellent year for music, featuring some fantastic releases. Now Jared Deck has followed that self-titled debut album with Bully Pulpit, a disc that has so much soul, so much passion that it feels like a living, breathing entity bursting forth from your stereo to physically lift you up. What a powerful voice! And the material here is mostly original, written or co-written by Jared Deck. He has a lot of folks backing him on this album, including Clayton Roffey on electric guitar, Brandon Cink on bass and acoustic guitar, Isaac Stalling on slide guitar and rhythm guitar, Jim Robinson on piano and keyboard, Dan Walker on organ and piano, and Gabriel Pearson on drums. Chanda Graham and Myra Beasley provide vocals on most tracks.

A fixture of the Canadian music industry throughout the past two decades, Tino Izzo’s songwriting and production work have garnered widespread praise both at home and abroad. A seasoned multi-instrumentalist and sought-after guitar player, Izzo has written and produced a string of #1 singles and been at the helm of gold and platinum-selling albums for a diverse range of artists. His debut instrumental guitar-based album Blue Desires was awarded with the Billboard Choice award upon its released in the early 90`s, and he has since gone on to release six critically acclaimed instrumental guitar-based records that have received praise from critics and fans alike.
Shifting gears in 2019, Izzo returns to his first love as a musician guitarist THE BLUES! Something he’s waited patiently his whole career to finally embark on, as he said, he wanted to to be “ripe” before doing this.  A sharp-edged blues project, dubbed the IZZO BLUES COALITION (IBC) was created. This dynamic three-piece ensemble delivers on a longstanding promise made between Izzo and his longtime right-hand man Bob Telaro to eventually record and tour in support of a bare-bones blues record, marking a return to the live circuit after a decade-spanning tenure behind the boards.
With Izzo’s seasoned, virtuosic guitar chops and trademark throaty vocal delivery backed by Telaro’s recognizably laid-back, heavy-hitting drum work, the album breaks new ground in the Blues Rock landscape. This unhinged collection of inspired blues recordings marries compositional intricacy with technical prowess, making for a streamlined, exhilarating listen that redefines Izzo as a latent blues rock visionary.

Blues-Rock music with soul-inspired vocals and soaring guitar solos straight from the heart of Texas.
Sparky Parker is a blues/rock/soul guitarist and vocalist from Houston, Texas with the grit, drive, and talent needed to stand tall in the eternally-competitive Texas music scene. Houston fans knew him as a young blues guitar prodigy but Parker has grown far beyond that kind of simple label. Parker is now a triple threat who writes quality songs, sings with a feeling, and plays with ferocity. His latest release with his power trio The Sparky Parker Band, In The Dark, will see daylight in the Fall of 2019 and those close to Parker feel that the record will break him to a larger, national audience.
Parker began playing professionally straight out of high school, cutting his teeth as a frontman with the rock band Bayou Monster and playing guitar in the blues band Mojofromopolis. He also joined the Houston rock band Funky Mustard, who he still plays with to this day. Parker went on to log road miles with Blues Music Award-winning artists Diunna Greenleaf and Vanessa Collier, playing important shows around the USA and Europe, including The Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise, The Blues Music Awards show, and The Chicago Blues Festival among dozens of other major music festivals.
Parker launched the Sparky Parker Band in 2012 with Kevin Berry (drums) and "Fender" Phil Lock (bass). The band is a high-energy outfit whose debut album, Live In Houston, was captured live in the band’s hometown at Dan Electro's Guitar Bar. The trio format lets Parker dig deeply into his influences, which include Jimi Hendrix, The Allman Brothers, Texas and Chicago Blues, Classic Soul, R&B, and Classic Rock. The band is amped up to take the seven originals and three covers from the new record to the people and knows what it has to offer is tested and true.
Parker has been compared to Gary Clark Jr, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Jonny Lang but creates intensely original music that never falls into the shadows of imitation. A shy and reserved person offstage, music has always been the best way for him to forge connections with other people. It’s how he tells his story and speaks his mind. That story will get a vital new chapter added onto it with the release of In The Dark and the road and the crowds will finish the tale. Anyone interested in where the blues is heading in the modern era should discover Sparky Parker today.

Livius Varga (HU) - vocals, percussions
Frenk (HU) - vocals, keyboards, drums
Szabolcs Nagy (HU) - piano
Laca Varga (HU) - bass
