Cape Breton slide guitar master John Campbelljohn has just been signed to a worldwide record deal with the German company ZYX Music Pepper Cake Records and his first album under that deal will be ‘Guitar Lovin’ Man’, to be released shortly.Until then we get a most magnificent fill-in: ‘Elmore’s Blues’ is a loving tribute to Elmore James with veteran Halifax singer Wayne Nicholson. Barry Cooke is at the piano, Kim Dunn on organ, Bruce Dixon bass and Neil Robertson, drums.Wayne Nicholson has long been considered one of Atlantic Canada’s greatest blues-rock vocalists, often compared to legendary vocalists such as Paul Rodgers, Jim Morrison and David Clayton-Thomas. Having grown up with the sounds of early jazz & blues music (Bessie Smith, Robert Johnson and Louis Armstrong) and evolved into a musician of his own with the strong influences of Elvis, Chuck Berry, Beatles, Stones, Yardbirds and Bob Dylan, Wayne Nicholson developed a very unique understanding of music. With a career spanning 50 years, Nicholson recorded and released eight albums and has toured with artists such as Ike & Tina Turner, Gregg Allman, James Cotton, J Geils Band, Jeff Healey, and more. Nicholson is also a past winner of the East Coast Music Awards Stompin’ Tom Award, given to performers who have made a mark in the music scene of Atlantic Canada and who are perceived as unsung heroes. Combining his outstanding guitar work & powerful songwriting, John Campbelljohn is a multiple award winner that includes wins and nominations for Maple Blues Awards, East Coast Music Awards, Real Blues Awards, Music Nova Scotia Entertainer Of The Year, Blues Recording Of The Year & Musician Of The Year. An incredible force on the Canadian music scene, Campbelljohn’s outstanding guitar work, powerful songwriting, rich vocals and distinctive prowess on the slide guitar have made him a favourite at music festivals in Atlantic Canada & Europe. He’s recorded and released 14 albums and has been featured on numerous others throughout his career.  Together, Nicholson and Campbelljohn have curated and recorded a masterful tribute to legendary bluesman, Elmore James. John Campbelljohn recalls the beginnings of the project “Wayne called me up and said, John, I’ve got an idea. We need to talk. I want to do an album of Elmore James songs and you are the slide guy! I said Wayne you’ve got one of the biggest blues rock voices to ever come out of the Maritimes. A native of St. Louis, with all it’s rich musical history, singer and songwriter Laura Green has been performing for over a decade,  singing a variety of types of music, including rock, folk and jazz.  Inspired by legendary women of blues such as Janiva Magness, Big Mama Thornton, Lou Ann Barton and Bonnie Raitt, Laura found her voice in the blues, coming onto the St. Louis blues scene in 2014 with the Laura Green Blues Band. She began writing music. In 2016, Laura joined forces with veteran St. Louis blues guitarist Rich McDonough and formed The Green McDonough Band.  TGMB performed in Europe, was nominated for Best St. Louis Blues Band of 2016 by the Riverfront Times and won the 2017 St. Louis Blues Society International Blues Challenge, advancing to the semi-finals in Memphis. Laura had three original songs on the band’s debut album, which was one of KDHX’s top played CDs of 2016 and made the list of Alive Magazine’s Best of 2016 St. Louis Area, Blues, Jazz and Crossover Recordings. Inspired by the #Me Too Movement, Laura wrote and released her single, Stronger in 2018 to raise money for donation to empower women who are victims of domestic abuse. 
​In 2019, Laura returned to songwriting to complete her first original solo album, Green Eyed Blues.  Her co-producer, David Torretta, recorded and produced Chuck Berry and recorded Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Johnnie Johnson and blues legend Henry Townsend.  Released in January of 2020, Laura bares her heart and soul with this mixed bag of blues,  influenced by funk, rock and roll, country and gospel while staying true to her love of the traditional.  “Not every song I write is about a personal experience, but many certainly are”, Laura explains, “I lay out my emotions with melody and lyrics for everyone to see.  My hope is that people will relate and join me for the ride.” A variety of amazing St. Louis musicians back Laura up on Green Eyed Blues,  Art Dwyer, Bob Lohr, Rich McDonough, Joe Meyer, Bill Murphy, Ellen Hinkle, Michele Isam, Rob Lee, Aaron Griffin, Carl Pandolfi, Charlie Pfeffer, Ron Roskowske, Chris Shepherd and Renee Smith.  With one eye on the future, Laura promises Green Eyed Blues to be her best work yet!

"Jay Stulo has been playing, fronting, and leading blues bands since the late 1980’s. He has toured the nation several times and released 5 CD’s. Jay first picked up guitar at the age of 14, learning some basic chords from his father, a early rock-a-billy guitarist. He joined his first working bar band Gypsy Rose at the age of 17.
Jay hit the road early with blues legend Luther Allison, then later with James Solberg. Jay co-founded The Mighty Aces in 1996 and toured full-time for a decade leading the The Jay Stulo Band. After taking some time away from music in 2006, Jay picked up his guitar returned to the stage in 2016. It did not take long to get back on top of his game, first as part of the West Coast style Jay Edward Band and now leading an all new Jay Stulo Band.

Hammond B-3 blues organist Tony Z was long a fixture on the New England blues club circuit, and for two years as part of Boston-area guitarist Ronnie Earl's touring band, the Broadcasters. Born and raised in Boston, Tony Zamagni began playing organ at St. Patrick's School in Roxbury. He cut his musical teeth with the Boston band Combat Zone and then went on to play with the Platters for the next ten years. He spent most of the latter part of the 1980s trying to organize his own touring band (no small feat) and working as a session player in Miami for TK Records, where he recorded an LP with the group Miami. After meeting Ronnie Earl through a mutual friend, trumpeter Bob Enos, Zamagni teamed up with the guitarist and joined his road band, the Broadcasters, from 1989 to 1991.Get Down with the BluesIn 1991, Zamagni moved to Chicago, where he worked for three years with guitarist Larry McCray and found work as a session musician on albums by Son Seals, Saffire, Little Smokey Smothers and Lee "Shot" Williams. Zamagni's debut album, Get Down With the Blues, was released on Rounder's Tone-Cool subsidiary in 1995. The outing is first-class, self-produced in Chicago's Streeterville Studios with some stellar backing musicians: former Roomful of Blues guitarist Duke Robillard, drummer Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, saxophonist Houston Person, harmonica master Sugar Blue and former Albert Collins band bassist Johnny B. Gayden. Buddy Guy was so impressed by Get Down With the Blues that he hired Tony Z to tour with him. In 1998, Tony Z released his second record for Tone Cool, Kiss My Blues. The record featured another all-star cast including Cornell Dupree on guitar, Bernard "Pretty" Purdie on drums again, Chuck Rainey on bass, Lenny Pickett on sax and Kim Wilson blowing harp on two tracks. Since then he has toured with Buddy Guy and on his own, continuing to spread his unique take on the B-3 sound.

A singer, songwriter, and guitarist who fuses the raw passion of folk and blues with the force and swagger of rock & roll, Adrian Niles grew up in the Upper Ohio Valley and was raised in a musical household. Niles' father Loren Porter sang and played in a bluegrass group that also featured his uncle Larry Porter, and Adrian grew up watching the family band rehearse in the kitchen and perform at bluegrass festivals. Seeing the band play on-stage had a strong influence on Niles, and when he was nine, he saved money, bought a guitar and started learning to play. Before long he was picking along with Allman Brothers Band albums, and he formed his first band, Legacy, when he was a freshman in high school. Legacy specialized in hard rock covers and did steady business playing at local clubs, but at age 19 Niles was eager to try something more ambitious. In 1993, Niles debuted Reverend Smitty and the Backsliders, a jam band in which he and his bandmates stretched out on material by Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead. Niles also began writing his own songs, and by 1996 he had relocated to Memphis, Tennessee and was striking out on his own as a blues artist. After winning a few talent contests but finding few gigs, Niles headed back to Ohio, and formed the first lineup of the Adrian Niles Band. The band gigged heavily, finding loyal fans in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Wheeling, West Virginia, regional area, and in 1998 the Adrian Niles Band released their first album, Manumit, produced in part by Pittsburgh rock hero Norman Nardini. While the album was well received locally, the Adrian Niles Band soon broke up, and while they would reunite periodically, Niles would primarily gig as a solo act until 2006, when he formed the roots rock band the Trainjumpers with Matt Heusel. The group's debut album, 2007's Deadtown, was well received by fans and critics, but before long Niles opted out of the group and recommitted himself to a solo career. In 2008, Niles released his second compilation of songs Things Gonna Break, and two more albums followed in 2010, a studio set titled Ghost Road and a live disc, Bootlegged Down on Main Street. By this time, Niles was establishing himself as a powerful live act, and he was sharing stages with the likes of Dave Mason, Los Lonely Boys, and New Riders of the Purple Sage, as well as earning high marks in blues competitions around the country. Niles also licensed his songs for use on the popular TV shows Justified and The Young and the Restless. In 2011, Niles released Roll and Move, and three years later he dropped Rough Rider. In 2015, Niles delivered one of his most accomplished sets to date, Supermoon, which Niles described as "a record with a strong lyrical narrative, vintage-tone heavy guitars, big drums, and loud bass, Fender Rhodes, and Hammond organ.” A true to form classic rock sound.  -Mark Deming

The title track of Railroaded is an explosive, hard-riffing, blues-rocking, bass-throbbing introduction to a blockbuster of an album from the John Doe Trio, a powerful band of exceptional musicians.
Dust Jesus showcases Phil Woollett’s powerful vocals and songwriting acumen about people who are slaves to superstition.
The slow burning blues So Long is a tale of lies, deceit and betrayal, the vocals and staccato guitar work expressing the intense anger and hurt which reaches a crescendo of seismic proportions.
The bluegrass feel of Who’s John Doe? features the unique sound of Phil’s homemade cigar box guitar which he plays lap steel style on to produce a much heavier vibe than usual. He picks it really well with his right hand and uses the slide on his left forefinger which allows him a lot of control with his thumb and middle finger on either side.
Make Me Fine has an infectious Bo Diddley–esq rhythm which provides the perfect background for Phil’s conversational vocal delivery and dazzling guitar solos. Another story of disloyalty is provided by So Bad To Me followed by the quirky, intriguing Mary Lou; the latter with its mesmeric backbeat. The instrumental Pickin’ My Chicken with its authentic chicken sounds is pure poultry in motion at a pace which would be unsustainable without the highly technical abilities of bassist Craig Ferguson and drummer Paul Townsend.
The slide introduction to To Walk Alone sets the scene for a memorable blues ballad sung with a passion and sincerity reminiscent of Chris Farlowe. Wasted Times is equally impressive, its searing guitar licks underpinned by Paul’s dynamic drumming and Craig’s pulsating bass lines; a fitting climactic finale to a superb original album. It is appropriate that one definition of Railroaded is “to push through hastily” because John Doe Trio looks certain to push the boundaries and move rapidly up the UK blues charts to where they deserve to be. Jay Gaunt (BMI) began playing harmonica at the age of 12, developing a passion for blues music. One of Jay’s first exposures to blues was The Blues Brothers movie and shortly thereafter he went to see Dan Aykroyd (in full Elwood mode) at the Opus Theater in West Nyack, NY, at which time Dan called up Jay to sit in for the encore. The moment he stepped on stage and played the Mississippi sax, Jay was hooked. Since then he has been hungrily seeking out everything he can find that relates to harmonica, blues and roots music. While Jay’s favorite music is the blues, he is not limited to just one genre. He also plays jazz, funk, rock and pop. Jay’s main influences on harmonica are James Cotton, Jason Ricci, Little Walter, Dennis Gruenling, Paul Butterfield, Chris Michalek, Sonny Boy Williamson, Kim Wilson, and Junior Wells. However, Jay does not only listen to harmonica players, but also draws influences from an array of musicians as diverse as Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane, and Donny Hathaway.

Like a fine wine, The Little Red Rooster Blues Band just seems to get better with age. Founded back in 1988 the band has successfully developed their own sound through interpretations of traditional Chicago Blues and West Coast Jump Blues. Over the years the band has consistently performed their high energy brand of blues in many renowned clubs and festivals. Their performance mission is simple: To entertain and leave them hungry for more. Little Red Rooster has performed with many legendary blues artists such as: Charlie Musslewhite, Kenny Neal, The Nighthawks, Jim Thackery and the Drivers, Steady Rollin’ Bob Margolin, Rick Estrin and The Nightcats, Sugar Ray and the Bluetones, Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Nick Moss Band featuring Dennis Gruenling, Steve Guyger, Satan and Adam, Jerry Portnoy, Lonnie Mack, Duke Robillard, Jimmy Dawkins, and Jimmy Rogers. The band has traveled extensively performing in many major cities including the home of the blues, Chicago, Ill. The band has also traveled to the United Kingdom, performing at clubs and headlining the Internationally Acclaimed Harbury Blues Festival in July of 1999 and also again in 2000, 2001, and 2015. The Little Red Rooster band has found tremendous success in their recording efforts. Their first release, Philadelphia to Memphis , received national recognition within the blues community. Their second release, Livin’ Large, was released in July 1997 and received tremendous reviews from fans and followers alike. The band’s follow up to Livin’ Large was Broke Again, which went on to receive tremendous praise from fans. That recording sparked a featured article in American Harmonica News magazine. The band’s follow-up CD, The Kids Love, marked the 15-year anniversary of the group. In 2013, the band went back into the studio after many years and brought old bandmates make together again for a marathon recoding session for Sip It, Don’t Kick It.  In 2015 and 2018, the band released two more CD’s containing all original material:  Hijinx and Tomfoolery and Lock Up The Liquor.  Both albums have been featured on radio stations worldwide.  Lock Up The Liquor made the Living Blues Radio Chart’s Top 25 in July of 2018. The band is already working on new material for a new release… stay tuned!!!
And now the wait is over !!!  CD has special guests Anthony Geraci and Steve Guyger. Coronavirus put a damper on our game plan for an all out media blitz. But it’s time to release UNDER THE COVERS now!! This was recorded during the LOCK UP THE LIQUOR sessions which took the award for Best Self Produced CD in the 2019 Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge.
