IF you like energetic funky guitar noodlin', horns squawking, and soulful wailing then you'l like this "Wolfman". The tracks collected here are mostly culled from a 1981 album called GET ON UP recorded in New Orleans of course. Highlights are two slow blues cuts called "It's Rainin' In My Life" & "Sure Enoguh It's You" with excellent vocals and some crisp guitar soloing from Washington. The soulful pop of "Girl Don't Ever Leave Me" sounds like a shoulda-been hit. The instrumental "Good And Juicy" reminds me some of 1970s Herbie Hancock (Headhunters-vibe) while the mostly instrumental jam "Get On Up (The Wolfman Song)" is pure funk with Walter doing his wolf call over the top of the heavt groove. This guy is truly underappreciated! Note for fans: The track title "Worry" is an early version of "You Got Me Worried", which was updated for his Rounder album.
