Their first album, Gotta Get a Cadillac, which might be the best least-known blues album ever recorded, was first released in 1991, then a second time in 1999 under an Australian record-label.Microwave Dave is the unique name of the rocking, but little known blues-band based in Huntsville, Ala. The band was started by Gallaher, who got his nickname in the 1980s. The musician introducing Gallaher at a gig couldn't remember his name. Gallaher's wife thought of a fitting title for the other members of the band - bassist Rick Godfrey and drummer Skip Skipworth. She called them "The Nukes." But don't let the unusual name fool you about their music, because it's fantastic. The fourth track, "Hat," exemplifies Microwave Dave's talent for using distinctive and changing rhythm that makes you want to tap your toes and nod your head to the beat of the music. When the band was playing years ago at a private gig in someone's home, neighbors complained that the music was too loud and called the police. When the police arrived, they just sat in the driveway, mesmerized by the music "because they liked it so much," Gallaher said.
