Modern funky blues and rootsy rock that will make you dance and sing/
Notably from the Rod Stewart Band (his platinum award winning recordings, touring band, television appearances, and the critically acclaimed MTV “Unplugged And Seated” release with Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones,) and his own original music, Don Teschner is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist.Solo, in the studio, and accompanying many bands on stage over the years, Don sings and plays violin, mandolin, bass, viola, octave mandolin, harmonica, banjo, bouzouki, 5 string viola, and all sorts of electric, acoustic and slide guitars.Born in London England, Don grew up near the foot of the Appalachian mountains in Easton, Pennsylvania.
He began playing fiddle, mandolin, and guitar at the bluegrass festivals all around the state. After moving to the town of State College he played gigs with "Hey Pedro" and "DOA," while in school at Penn State University. After completing his "schooling," he moved to Los Angeles to attend the Musicians Institute and pursue his music. While studying guitar, Don became the engineer at MI's newly built recording studio, as well as the first call live sound engineer for the many seminars and shows offered as part of the curriculum. Don did sound for Steve Vai, Robbin Ford, Steve Morse, Joe Pass, Jeff Berlin, Tommy Tedesco, etc...
As one of the original founding members of the resurgence of acoustic music in L.A. in the late 80's, Don landed a recording session playing with the legendary Rod Stewart. This pairing led to three world tours, two Gold and one Platinum record. After working with Rod Stewart for five years, Don released his first CD, SwampRockBlues ; A collection of slide guitar-based music. Inspired by the tradition of the Delta Blues; organic, acoustic, and passionate. These steamy songs resonate with the beautiful yet haunting sounds of the deep South. SwampFunkBlues is Don's second set of recordings. Electric Funk and Acoustic Pop... covering a wide range of style and emotion. This time with his band WaterDawgs, Don sings and rocks the electric guitar, violin, mandolin and lap steel ... as well as a few choice bass lines. Don continues to play live solo shows, with his band, and with other bands around Montana, Los Angeles, and beyond. He works in the studio as well, creating original content for television, and more.
