The Tuscan bluesman, after a long series of important collaborations (from Andy J. Forest to James Thompson, Arthur Miles, Pippo Guarnera, Vince Vallicelli, etc.), decides to try his hand at his first solo album. Ten songs, including five unreleased songs by himself, are filled with boundless passion, heart, soul, and a great blues groove sprinkled throughout. Classics like "Hoochi Coochie Man," "T-Bone Shuffle," and "Minnie the Moocher" are accompanied by his own compositions, which certainly hold their own. Impeccable technique and style, a highly polished execution, make this an ideal album for lovers of the genre. Blues in Barrique is a tribute to the masters of the blues and a discreet showcase of Barontini's confident and mature guitar playing, a vocalist with a limited range; a melting pot of blues, shuffle, and swing that at times recalls early Joe Galullo. Nothing new under the sun, a sincere and heartfelt blues album without any modern pretensions. ~ Gianandrea Pasquinelli/
