JJ Blues Band was formed in Horsens in 1983 and the original crew spoke Søren Jensen on drums, Michael Pedersen on bass, Knud Gram and Jan Markfoged on guitars and Jens Juel (JJ), song and mouth harp. About 1985, Markfoged was replaced by Henning Olesen and with this crew, JJ Blues Band played many jobs - primarily in the local area, but also in some of the outdoor venues and in addition to the first Djurs Bluesland festival in 1988. JJBB made great emphasis on playing "the real thing" right from the start, and the inspiration and songs originated exclusively from black artists such as Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, James Cotton and others. In 1989, the original JJBB was solved and was immediately restored as "JJ & The Real Thing". As the name indicates, JJ was still in the front of song and mouthharp, but with a brand new band consisting of Flemming Riis (bs), Poul Knudsen (gui) And Mads Hvid (dr). With this very strong line-up and after an intense effort of both practice and job booking, JJBB in the 90's could regularly be seen on the poster at most significant venues in Denmark.After a short break in 1999, where Mads Hvid left the band and left behind the drummer drums of the original drummer Søren Jensen, JJBB is still going strong today and can be regularly seen at venues around the country, although not quite the same frequency as in The younger years. Completely unaffected by contemporary musical trends and modeling, the prevalent expression since the onset of 1983 has always been uncompromising, classic Chicago blues performed with a degree of enthusiasm and dignity which rarely is seen and heard at our latitudes.In 2004, the debut CD, "That's It" was broadcast, and for the purpose of marking the 20th anniversary of the band, the band took the original name JJ BLUES BAND. That's It contains mainly cover versions of Chicago classics and some single original numbers. In the fall of 2008, the CD followed "Still Stuck With the Blues", which has 9 original tracks and 3 covers.
