"After spending more than three decades as the bass player for Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers, Bill Stuve is currently concentrating more on his solo career. His third release, “Flyin’ Right”, makes you feel like putting on your dancing shoes and heading to your favorite swing club. Not only is Stuve one of the best bassists out there, his style and absolute command of the bass make him a crowd favorite. The first time I saw Bill was w/ Rod and the Flyers about five years ago. I recall being amazed that such a cool looking instrument (the big, fat upright bass) could make so many awesome and thunderous sounds! Stuve has also worked w/ many blues legends over the years including Jimmy Rogers, William Clarke, and Junior Watson. His other solo releases, “Big Noise” and “Say Man” also offer to the listener that authentic jump blues sound that will keep you interested and wanting more from beginning to end. Bill also offers fine vocals and enthusiasm to back up his expert bass thumpin’. I was dancin’ in my chair listening to this one! I give this cd a 4.25 of 5 on the STLBluesometer! Stuve might be takin’ a break w/ Rod and the Mighty Flyers, but he isn’t cooling off or slowing down anytime soon!"
