We are so excited to introduce you to the amazing vocals of Bay Area blues singer supreme, Tia Carroll. Tia has been performing steadily with her own band for decades in California, and made some successful recordings before (rock, gospel, and blues (with bands in Italy and Brazil.) But this is her first stateside studio recording of strong original blues and soul, and interesting well-chosen covers. This is the album Tia’s long-time fans have been waiting for. We’ve always known she has the voice, charisma, and passion, but now with the added combination of outstanding song selection, musicianship, and production, we believe we have a truly remarkable recording that will bring the much-deserved attention to lovely Tia’s talents. YOU GOTTA HAVE IT! Tia’s emotive vocals truly mesh well together with the Blues Music Award nominated piano/organ playing of Little Village’s Jim Pugh and the jaw dropping, yet tasteful guitar of Kid Andersen. The Sons of Soul Revivers also added their awesome gospel soul stirring vocals to many of the tunes, including their heartfelt rendition of the Staples Singers’ classic “Why Am I Treated So Bad?” and Z.Z. Hill’s deep soul blues ballad, “I Need Someone.” The ridiculously talented and unique Charlie Hunter (who plays guitar and bass simultaneously) guests on “Ain’t Nobody Worrying,” an exceptionally cool struttin’ funky cover of a gem from soul star Anthony Hamilton. “Our Last Time” is a killer Jim Pugh tune that he and Robert Cray recorded during their years playing together. It has a wild soaring Magic Sam like groove from guitarist extraordinaire Kid Andersen. “Don’t Put Your Hands On Me” is an outstanding R&B romp written by the always witty Rick Estrin for one of Tia’s heroes, KoKo Taylor. Tia makes this warning song all her own and it has the added clout of a full horn section, featuring Mike Rinta on trombone, Rob Sudduth on tenor sax, Aaron Lington on baritone sax, and Jeff Lewis on trumpet. Sax Gordon Beadle also adds his distinctive horn blasts to a few songs, including the Kid and Lisa Andersen original, “Ready To Love Again,” …Tia’s back in the game! Tia Carroll brought three of her own originals to the session, including the sultry and seductive “Leaving Again” which has a funky 70’s feel with Kid’s wah-wah and Jim’s Rhodes, the standout beautiful and emotional ballad “Even When I’m Not Alone” and Tia’s inspirational message song, “Move On” which features our Brazilian blues friend, guitar star Igor Prado on stunning lead. Let’s all heed Tia’s advice as she declares “I gotta message for y’all…get up when you fall and MOVE ON!”
Muito obrigado. Jesus abençoe !!!
