My name's David Headley .... Many people call me Slippery, from a nickname I received from my early biker days. I'm a singer, songwriter, guitarist from Mid-Michigan. My influences in music has always been rock & blues, but I have remained open to expression, because that's how good stuff is born. You take the rules off it and let it brew. I started playing in the early 80's and was gigging by the 90's. bars, clubs, parties, events. They all seemed cool. ... I think I love playing the CBG more than the traditional guitar. It brings the early blues style back into the mix and gives a expression of raw talent. There's something to be said about this primitive tool...

Argentina born San Franciscan David M’ore is a guitar-slinger extraordinaire that brings deep passion and energy as he wrings super-charged notes from his custom made Stratocaster using various techniques and effects. There are times when he slows the pace to illicit beautiful atmospheric guitar passages. To say he knows his way around the fret board is an understatement. His influences include heavy rockers Deep Purple and AC-DC along with the blues. David’s voice sounds like Tom Waits with a sore throat, which makes some of the lyrics indecipherable and takes away from the flow of the songs. It’s the imaginative guitar mastery here that is the main draw, that is ably abetted by Wade Olson on drums and David De Silva on bass, creating a classic power trio.Although three songs are based around Stevie Ray Vaughn type shuffles, it’s only a foundation for him to add his own unique approach. “The Devil’s Land” finds him utilizing his rapid fire attack in this manner. “The 12 Song” has him briefly quoting Led Zeppelins’ “You Shook Me” as the intro, then adding some Hendrix influence over the shuffle beat. This approach continues on “Liar” which adds a nice bit of wah-wah action.Textured guitar is used to great effect on “Love Again”, as well as other songs. He often uses multiple guitar over dubs to flesh out the sound, combining acoustic, electric and slide in various combinations. One of the highlights is the instrumental guitar tour-de-force of “Johan Sebastian Blues”, that is essentially a gift to guitar geeks as he just powers through some amazing seamless playing. I even seem to detect a brief bit of influence from the Dutch prog-rockers Focus and the playing of Jan Akkerman on their international hit “Hocus Pocus”.The other instrumental “Funky It Up” achieves great tone on a lovely biting guitar melody. The CD is summed up with a spontaneous, one take tribute to his heroes Deep Purple on their “Mistreated”. I’m not familiar with the song, but Davis pretty much captures the essence of that classic hard rock band. Curiously, this is the song where his lyrics come through the clearest. There you have it, everything a fan of guitar based hard rock could hope for and more (no pun intended). His over-the-top growl of a voice is a bit disconcerting, but I just focus on all the guitar goodness contained here. Toussaint McCall (1934 – August 7, 2023) was an American R&B singer and organist. Toussaint McCall was born in Delhi, Louisiana, but was a long-time resident of nearby Monroe, Louisiana. His father, Rev. D. L. McCall, was a pastor at the Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church in Delhi, and Toussaint was one of twelve children. He was named after the Haitian revolutionary Toussaint Louverture. After graduating high school, McCall attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After many years of working in the music industry, he received a recording contract with Shreveport, Louisiana-based Ronn Records. His one major success was with "Nothing Takes the Place of You", which reached #5 in the US R&B chart, issued on Ronn Records in 1967. Although further singles and an album followed, he did not repeat its success. McCall continued performing and recording for local record labels, and in 1988 made a cameo appearance in the John Waters film Hairspray, lip syncing to his hit song. The film took place in 1962 Baltimore, but his hit was originally recorded and released in 1967, making his appearance in the movie anachronistic. In May 2005, McCall was interviewed on the American Routes radio show, where he talked about the writing of "Nothing Takes the Place of You."  McCall was inducted into the Northeast Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2016. He died on August 7, 2023, at the age of 89.

Continental Record Services represents (mostly North American) Americana and Blues artists in Europe. We handle distribution, PR and occasionally book tours for our artists.
Heads Up! is a great title for this album, because this collection of songs and performances is truly something the WHOLE Blues world should be paying attention to I hear something here, I feel something here, something that I haven’t felt since I first discovered the REAL blues. There are a lot of really good blues musicians in Europe, there is no doubt about that. For half my life, I lived there myself, and that is where I discovered the Blues, and started learning about it, and how to play it. But after a while, I started sensing that there was something MORE, that as much as I loved this music, and had many like-minded friends who did… I was missing part of the picture. That is why I have been living in the USA since I was 21 years old, and I was right.
There WAS something missing, and the more I lived and learned and played in the USA, the more I realized that I understood very little about this music when I was living in my home country. And the more I became a part of the Blues world in its land of origin, the harder it was for me to enjoy European blues artists. They could PLAY, but they couldn’t sing. Or they could sing, but they couldn’t understand the context of what they were singing about. They could mimic and learn, but they couldn’t really do their win thing with the blues, in a way that convinced me.Well, now I AM convinced. Everything I just said, SirJo & Balta’s new album is something different than that. THIS music rings true. These guys have got it, they are doing everything “right” but also doing it in their own way.The guitar playing, the ensemble playing, and most of all the incredible VOCALS, it all knocks me out! I can hear their influences, but I don’t feel like I’m listening to somebody copying Otis Rush for instance. I feel like I am listening to a real blues original. Songs like “Transmutation Blues” takes all their influences and stretches them in new and creative directions, and the result is masterful. I am getting the same feelings and vibes form when I first discovered the blues.I think SirJo & Balta truly represent a milestone in European blues, for they are not just great Blues MUSICIANS, they are great Blues ARTISTS.

Herbert Swoboda - clarinet (5,14)
Tom Müller - tenor sax (6, 10, 11)
Lisi Stiger - bariton sax (6, 10 ,11)
Ludwig Seuss - piano (9, 13)

Mojo Blues Band is centered around Erik Trauner, representing a music community of musicians who are passionate for the blues, and they have made the exotic language of the blues to their own. Comparitive to a second hand mother language with all their dialects are the traditional Chicago Blues just as well as swinging R&B and rolling boogie woogie. The band attempts to create a homogeneous sound. Not the endless soloing of the individual musician, but the question/answering dialogue between the instruments, have priority. A concert with the Mojo Blues Band is always a dynamic suspenseful, hot to cold tub of feelings, with humor in between.Although the respect towards the endless idols of the Blues, like Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Sonny Boy Williamson or T-Bone Walker, the most important thing is to find your own musical path. Blues is not only a form of music, it is the expression of a life style. That is the opinion of Erik Trauner who says, "It's all about developing your own handwriting, there is no room for jiving. If you have not lived you have nothing to tell. Like fine wine, the older we get, the better we get."

In Laughlin Nevada, under the sun in the scorching heat. Probably one of the best representation of pure raw emotional energy. This is a glorious live album, the band is on fire, from the depths of hell and beyond. This recording is highly recommended to all blue rock fans. Jay Gordon and Blues Venom is firing on all cylinders...
Jay Gordon grew up in the capital of blues Chicago but now lives in Bullhead City, Arizona. His major sources of inspiration include Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He opened shows for Johnny Winter, Eric Clapton, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Paul Rogers, and Bad Co., 38 Special, BB King, Def Leopard, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins and played at Crossroads Guitar in 2004 at the invitation of Eric Clapton Festival. Jay now has 18 CDs to his name and now adds a live recording recorded during his performance at the Woodystock Blues Festival held in Laughlin, Nevada and Bullhead City, Arizona. Together with accompanists bassist Sharon Butcher and drummer Tom Parham, he delivers a solid blues rock set full of conviction. Well-known covers such as Hoochie Coochie Man, Crossroads and Good Morning Little School Girl blast out of the speakers. But his own material is also discussed, the sturdy slow blues Slow Burn Biker Mama and the boogie Fire and Brimstone Boogie, with which Jay John honors Lee Hooker. After a rough performance of John Fogarty's Green River and Dale Hawkins Suzie Q, the Southern rock song Train Train follows, original by Rickey Medlocke of the band Blackfoot, on which Jay's beloved Gretsch guitar is heavily modified. Which also applies to the closing track Stranger Blues by Elmore James. In short, fans of solid work will certainly appreciate this album.

Silver lining - Misty Blues. Album notes. Written by: Elizabeth Gardner. Blues artist Amy Winehouse once said that “every bad situation is a blues song waiting to happen.” Gina Coleman, frontwoman of Misty Blues, learned early on that those bad situations are the very best teachers, that if you get knocked down, you get back up—and you’re better for it. ... Silver Lining, the band's 15th album released in their 25 years together, exemplifies their musical evolution as a contemporary blues band — and how the blues can play center stage amongst a cast of varied genre influences. The album tells the story in the lyrical blues style of the band’s intrepid journey through the ups and downs of the last 25 years as one of the hardest working musical groups in New England.

David Hull was born and raised in San Jose, CA, and started out in music before he could say "mama". His dad Milton, who played tenor saxophone for Larry Graham and T-Bone Walker all over the Bay Area, passed the gift of blues to his son. With the sounds of Jimmy Smith, Ray Charles and many other jazz greats always on the record player, David's musical footprints were cast. When he was ten, his dad gave him a Fender Telecaster and a Fender Princeton Reverb Amplifier. He still plays his 1972 Fender Tele to this day! After high school, David began taking his music very seriously and started writing his own songs and performing around the San Francisco Bay area, playing in a number of successful local rock and blues bands. But Dave's desire to know more about the roots of the Stevie Ray Vaughan and T-Bone Walker sound that he liked so well led him to Austin, playing solid Texas blues and honing his guitar and singing skills in more Austin clubs than he can recall. In the late 90's, David returned home and formed The David Hull Band, where the band is currently playing to enthusiastic audiences in the San Francisco Bay area. David is a gifted singer/songwriter with a strong, soulful voice and a burning guitar playing style that incorporates all the chops he has honed in Texas and California. Under David's direction, the band, with the very talented drummer Scott LaMantia, bassist 'Philly' Bill Weir, Mike Dugan, and keyboard phenom James 'Mike' Day, recorded their CD 'Out Of The Blue' in 2005. David's philosophy on life mimics his musical style - "keep the good times rollin' along any way you can!" With new songs, a new CD and the talented backing of Scott, Bill and Mikey, the David Hull Band is rolling ahead full steam!

Bad Boy is my first CD. It is the culmination of 25 years of playing the blues. That 25 years includes playing with some of the guys that created this genre. Guys like Earl King, Jimmy Rogers, Hubert Sumlin, Otis Rush, and Nappy Brown. It represents the many styles of blues that I've played. Everything from South Side and West Side Chicago Blues, Lousiana swamp blues, West Coast Swing, Soul Music, New Orelans R&B, and swing and jump blues. This CD has 13 tunes, 9 of which are orginals. Roger Edsall (blues harp/vocals) and I decided to start writing a few years ago, and writing in the style that we play. So, this is the first but not the last.

About the Artist
Dave Sherman started playing the blues in the mid '70s and got his feet wet by sitting in with Washington DC area stalwarts The Nighthawks and Tom Principato. Feeling the need to have his own band, he started The Rhythm Masters in 1978 and toured the east coast extensivley, playing everywhere he could between New York and Columbia South Carolina. In 1982 Dave joined The Uptown Rhythm Kings, a horn driven jump/swing band and got tottally emersed in the jump blues scene. In the '80s Dave formed Little Junior and The Hitmen and got the opportunity to be back-up band for blues greats Jimmy Rogers, Hubert Sumlin, Otis Rush, and Earl King. This gave Dave the kind of experience that only comes from playing with the greats. You can't get this stuff off a record.  In 1994 Dave started his current project... The Nightcrawlers. They've been playing clubs and festivals from Maine to Tidewater Virginia with much success and have an ever growing following. Finally, Dave released his first CD, which shows off his wide range of influences, delivered in a style that is all his own. Paul Benjamin, promoter of The North Atlantic Blues Festival, described Dave's blues as deep and powerful (https://www.amazon.com/Bad-Boy-Dave-Sherman-Nightcrawlers/dp/B00005LK6F).

Debra Lyn creates a mood full of energy. Rich vocal tone that sounds like smooth leather worn with time and a range to hard driven blues that scuff a dance floor. You'll hear "wild horses growl, thunder threatens the skies and ragdolls dance." Winnipeg's blues community is small and close-knit -sometimes almost insular. And when one of it's own steps out, he or she has the full support of everyone involved, musically and otherwise. So it is that Debra Lyn Neufeld, Winnipeg's foremost blueswoman, slips from the vault and onto centre stage with 12 stunning tracks which showcase not only her keen knowledge of the form -lyrically and musically- but also the shining abilities of those with whom she works. This album is a seamless whole, a Chicago-style rip-snorter that flows smoothly from the guitar-drenched opener, "So Hard", to the shuffle of "I'm Alright" and the uptempo, hand jive inspired romp of "Attitude Town". Outstanding sidemen include guitarist Chris Carmichael (he's my brother-in-law,yes,but the guy can play) vocalist Scotty Hills and drummer Ken McMahon, who holds everything together and makes it seem easy.

The Jason Lane Band, from Vancouver, Canada, is a blues group that expertly combines the raw power of rock with the catchy tunes of pop. Their unique style mixes traditional blues with infectious melodies and harmonies, all powered by electrifying rock guitar. The result is a polished, soulful, and irresistibly groovy sound that connects classic and modern music. At the heart of the Jason Lane Band is a dynamic brother-sister duo: Jason Lane Amott, the skilled guitarist, and Chantal Sayers Amott, the powerhouse vocalist. The band’s rhythm section is solidified by Robbie Cooper on percussion and Mark Vescovi on bass, creating a tight and compelling musical foundation. The band has unveiled their seven-song EP, Full Steam Ahead, with a release party taking place tonight (June 1, 2024) at Admiral Pub & Grill in Burnaby, BC.
“Light My Way” by The Jason Lane Band is a standout track that beautifully captures resilience and self-discovery. The poignant lyrics resonate deeply, symbolizing letting go of the past to find a new path. With soulful vocals and an engaging rhythm, this song is a powerful anthem.
“Born on the Bayou” is a lively blues track that paints a vivid picture of Southern life and rebellion. With lyrics like “when I was just a little boy, standing to my daddy’s knee, papa said son, don’t let the man get you, do what he done to me,” the song carries a strong message about standing up against oppression and carving out your own path. The repeated phrase “born on the bayou” in the chorus reinforces the song’s deep connection to its roots and heritage, serving as a grounding reminder of the pride and identity associated with growing up in the bayou.
Next is “Say It’s True,” a hauntingly beautiful song with mesmerizing bluesy instrumentation that sets a captivating atmosphere. The lyrics express emotional turmoil and vulnerability, conveying the raw intensity of longing and pain. The soulful vocals add depth, expressing the struggle of seeking reassurance from a loved one.
“Change” has a catchy rhythm and lively lyrics, encouraging listeners to accept change and face their inner selves. Its uplifting message of turning challenges into opportunities and guiding others resonates strongly. The repeated refrain of “change, if you want to” acts as a call to action for empowerment and personal development.
“Sunshine on the Radio” is a rowdy blues anthem that bursts with infectious energy and nostalgia. With lyrics like “turn it up and listen to the songs, dance around and try to sing along,” the song captures the joy and escapism of music. As the chorus belts out “turn that dial, make a sad man smile,” listeners are transported to a world where music becomes the ultimate source of liberation and happiness.
“Why I Lie” is a sombre blues ballad with heartfelt lyrics like “i don’t wanna hurt you, so i try to spin the truth.” The song delves into the internal conflict of wanting to protect a loved one while facing the consequences of dishonesty. Lines such as “we’ve had a long run and it’s all been good, by my side is where you always stood” reflect on the shared history and loyalty in the relationship, while the admission of “i can’t share this bed with you no more” reveals the painful truth behind the lies.
As we wrap up the EP, “Save The Best For Last” delivers an electrifying blues-rock anthem that sparks excitement and promises an unforgettable night out. With its pulsating rhythm and infectious energy, the band creates an irresistible atmosphere, while lyrics like “oooh summer’s here, you can do what you want” evoke the carefree vibes of the season. The chorus drives home the message to seize the moment and savor life’s best moments, leaving listeners inspired to make the most of every opportunity.
Overall, from start to finish, this EP delivers a dynamic blend of blues, rock, and soul, creating a sonic journey that’s both invigorating and soul-stirring. With something for everyone, the Jason Lane Band has surely brought the blues genre front and centre.

In the mid-'90s, Detroit blues guitarist and songwriter Kenny Parker released his debut album for the London-based JSP Records, Raise the Dead. Parker's blues education began with the Beatles in the early 1960s, but it wasn't long before he discovered the roots of their music. Parker grew up in Albion, Michigan and began playing in his first band, the Esquires, at 14. He begin listening to Albert King and B.B. King in high school via the local record store, and he took his inspiration from them. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1976 and took a job in a Cadillac factory while looking around for the right opportunities to play blues at night. He began working with a paragon of the Detroit scene, Mr. Bo (Louis Bo Collins), and later joined the Butler Twins. While Parker toured Europe with the Butler Twins, JSP founder John Stedman heard him and decided to sign him up for his own recording. the Butler Twins accompany Parker on his debut recording, and he's also backed by harp master Darrell Nulisch, best known for his work with Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets. the Butler Twins and Nulisch contribute vocals on Parker's Raise the Dead, and since Parker doesn't consider himself a singer, his guitar playing takes center stage. ~bio by Richard Skelly
