The gift of a guitar at ten years old sparked the journey of a lifetime for Lendon Balch. A Memphis native, raised in the music-influenced home of rock-and-roll, his music reflects a broad range of musical influences. As a songwriter he has the ability to portray colorful images with humor, as well as deep thought-provoking lyrics.Initial musical influences included Jim Croce and James Taylor. Once an electric guitar was thrown into the mix at fifteen, bands like The Allman Brothers and Marshall Tucker took center stage. "Playing until my fingers bled", Lendon said while lifting and dropping the needle on the old Motorola record player, he learned licks from Toy Caldwell and Dickie Betts. Branching out discovering Santana, Lendon discovered latin sounds and rhythms. After purchasing George Benson's "Breezing" album Lendon says his music style changed into something most rock bands didn't much care for at the time. Playing in southern rock, classic rock, country, religious, pop, acoustic and blues bands he found himself having to fake it and play like others while ignoring his own style. You eventually reach a time when the music becomes the most important thing. Sitting down in his early fifties to begin recording the songs he had been writing for decades he discovered it was the music that mattered. Now you get to hear Lendon do his own music in a way that he wants it done.Lendon's passion for music is crystallized in his original albums, produced after years of writing and performing in Memphis. The music is a great creative mix of instruments, styles and sound; all very true to his southern musical roots.
