Formed in the Spring of 2005, The Reliables is the baby of two founding members of Nashville's Highwater, Chad Abel and Lewis "Re" Stubbs Jr. After Highwater became less active as a recording and touring band, Abel and Stubbs continued to work on songs that were true to the Highwater tradition; Twangy, funky, boogie rock-n-roll guaranteed to make your women look prettier and your beer taste better. The last line up featured Abel on vocals and keys and Stubbs on vocals and guitars, as well as Jimmy Lowe on drums, and Lewis Stubbs Sr on bass. In 2014, bassist Lewis Sr died unexpectedly. The self titled album was completed posthumously and released September 1st, 2015. It contains 11 songs written by Stubbs, Jr and Abel and features Lowe and Stubbs, Sr. Abel and Stubbs, Jr continue to write and perform occasionally together but full time in The Black Hole Drifters featuring Abel and Natchez Tracers featuring Stubbs.
