This CD by The Cell, "Keepin' On, Rollin' Hard", comes from the Czech Republic. In all honesty, I have to confess that I know little about the music scene in that region, therefore, beyond its placement in the musical context of Eastern Europe, I will dedicate myself to describing the work in question, but not before having traced a brief biography of the band.
The Cell was born in Prague in 2002 by the drummer/manager Milan Milata and David Gore, singer/guitarist originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, and composer, together with Michal Beneš (guitarist and producer of the album), of all the original songs. Gore was the lead singer on the first CD "Are You Ready?" (2006).
In about a decade, The Cell have managed to build an excellent curriculum. They have played in most of the continent, in America in 2009, and have performed as an opening act for artists and bands such as John Mayall and ZZ Top.
"Keepin' On, Rollin' Hard" is an album of "Americana" music. From the most powerful rock-blues to delicate ballads, a transversal and universal message passes, never again hindered by "cultural walls".
Among the twelve tracks of the album there is only one cover, "Nothing Better To Do", by the country singer Lee Ann Rimes (a song that entered the Top 20 of Billboard in 2007. ed.).
It starts with a southern rock in the style of Lynard Skynard, "Time Of My Life", which has an intense seventies flavor, like the following "Find My Way Home", a very catchy tune in which the guitars are the protagonists. The climate, although remaining electric, shifts towards rock blues with the ballad "Someday". The sound lights up again with "Give Mer An Answer" a rock that preludes the splendid "Too Late To Say I'm Sorry", a Westcoast ballad that shows the compositional "sweet side" of the Beneš/Gore duo. The scent of country-rock spreads, complete with banjo, thanks to the fun "How 'Bout You". In the rock-blues "Let It Ride" the harmonica peeps out while the following "Nothing better To Do" seems to me to be a bit out of context according to my canons of coherence. "Pieces Of Wild" does not escape the same logic, which seems to be taken from the repertoire of Sweet, a band that, despite having achieved considerable success, has never exactly represented my musical tastes. We return between the lines at the end of the album. "Cameron Blues" is very beautiful as is the overwhelming "Rock Star" that brings to mind the fantastic ZZ Top. The final piece is the ballad "Out Of Time", complete with Fleetwood Mac-style backing vocals, which begins acoustically and slowly grows. "Keepin' On, Rollin' Hard" is a really well-played and recorded album, properties that allow us to define The Cell as an excellent band. You can buy it directly on their website.

Chris Fitz personifies the powerful front man who sings, plays incendiary lead and rhythm guitar while giving the audience a breath taking performance. Dynamic highs and lows express his colorful original material on this new live, all original CD, LIVE AT DODGE STREET. Fitz's original material is fleshed out, embellished with frequent bandmate, Ken Clark, an explosive and rhythmic Hammond B-3 artist. Their collaboration is so natural. The two "have no brakes" their approach to this music is infused with natural spark. Fitz has grown up in the Blues tradition. He has a sensibility that Blues lovers can relate to. His songs are tales of a musician who has lived the Blues on the road for many years, working 7 days a week, gaining dedicated fans in audiences from all over New England to Europe and from Memphis to California. The listener is at once lifted up by his ethereal Blues and then pitched back down into the rocky road of reality, all the while thrilling to the virtuosity of this masterful guitar player. Fitz's talent spans the collection of Blues styles. He can offer a sweet Delta style finger picking tune then break into a strong, muscular sound. The next moment his sound is quite tender and haunting and he can swing with the best of them! He is a consummate entertainer. Well deserving a of a wider audience - Diana Shonk- Publisher, The Blues Audience newsletter, 2/22/2010.

 8. I'm Headed For a Breakdown - 5:44
 9. B.Y.O.B - 4:32

This CD consists of all original material written by Beautiful Bobby Blackmon. The CD was released 11/1/01. His music style is contemporary blues on tracks 1,2,7,8&9. The other tracks, 3,4,5,6 gives you the sweet R&B sounds that's been missing with other blues artists. The 1st track, I've Got Blues On My Mind" jams as Bobby lets everyone know that there's a new blues guitar-slinger in town and he just wants to stand back and play some blues for you. "We Don't Tell Motel" is for those who want to get even. "Holdin On To Sweet Memories is smooth r&b ballad that will have everyone singing the chorus. "Im Dialin 911" sets the r&b groove about a fellow who's trying to find his woman who left in the middle of the night. Listen to pleading cries of "I Don't Want You To Go" and it reminds you of Otis Redding being in the house. Now "Tryin To Forget About Yesterday" is that song about bad luck that touches your soul but lifts you up. "Give Me The Blues Any Ole Time" is all about keeping the blues alive. The downhome slow blues with the bending strings wailing is sizzling on "I'm Headed For A Breakdown. B.Y.O.B is simply bring your own bottle and bring your own blues to the party down the street. This CD is a treasure for the blues music fans who want their blues contemporary and with some funky danceable r&b mixed in.
Beautiful Bobby Blackmon is an excellent blues guitarist/vocalist who currently entertain his fans with his band in the Orlando, Florida area. Bobby's career began in the Southwest not for from the Dallas, Texas area. His Texas blues influence is heard in his soulful guitar playing. He has worked as a sideman behind many blues and r&b artists auch as: Jimmy Reed, Lavelle White, ZZ Hill, Johnny Taylor,Lou Rawls, Little Esther Phillips, etc. After retiring from the music scene for a number of years ( to work the day job) he decided to come back to "Keep The Blues Alive" and we're glad he did. Beautiful Bobby has a talent for writing "hook" lyrics that makes it easy for people to sing along with his songs. His influences includes Little Milton, Bobby Bland, BB King, Wayne Bennett (former guitarist with Bland)and Buddy Guy. His guitar has a mellow clean sound as well as his vocals; he has his own style.

Chris Fitz is already part of the conversation with current rock/blues artists Kenny Wayne Shepard, Jonny Lang, Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout, Chris Duarte and Tommy Castro and other contemporary guitar stalwarts. National recognition for the Chris Fitz Band still awaits but at every major regional blues/music festival,The Chris Fitz Band always has the longest line at the CD merchandise table including the national act headliners! Chris Fitz broke into the Boston music scene back in 1994 after a 5 year stint in the San Francisco area. Chris honed his guitar chops by floating around the music clubs in the Bay Area and finding inspiration in the local and national artists who frequented them. He would then spend countless hours holed up in his apartment, guitar in hand and record player by his side, tirelessly teaching himself to sound like the great players he loved to watch live. Upon moving back to Boston, his hometown, he wasted no time hitting the various open mic jams around the city with a guarded confidence that he could play well enough to find his way into a working band. The singing and songwriting would come a little later but the blistering guitar work soon began to make an impact! Over seventeen years and 3000 plus gigs later, the Chris Fitz Band, with Chris as band leader / singer / songwriter / guitar player, Jeffrey Majeau on Bass, and Steve Wolpe on drums/harmony vocals has become one of the premier rock blues acts in all of New England. Since 2002, The Chris Fitz Band has received more than a dozen music awards including a 2002 Boston Music Award, 2005 Boston Blues Challenge Winners Award, as well as numerous songwriting and best guitar player awards. The band has toured around New England for the last 15 years and has also spread it's wings as far as Europe, Memphis and California.
Singer/songwriter, blues guitar master, and band leader Chris Fitz has self produced four award winning full length all original studio albums and in March of 2010 released the long awaited Double Live CD "Live at Dodge Street." The raw but sizzling debut Just Getting’ Started was released in 1998. “Blues Record of the Year” winner This Is My Church hit the streets in 2000, and the highly acclaimed Journey of Hope, who’s single “Never Been to Memphis” was a finalist and runner up in the prestigious International Songwriting Competition, came out in 2002. Finally, after 5 great years of tours and awards, the band released it's fourth studio album self titled The Chris Fitz Band. Debuting in May of 2007, the new record contains 15 more Chris Fitz original songs ranging from funky blues/rock to rock-a-billy, to foot in the bucket back porch delta style blues. The newest "Live" album features the band doing what it does best, knocking audiences off their feet. The longtime Chris Fitz Band faithful are unanimous in agreeing that "Live at Dodge Street" is the bands best!

10. Don't Let The Same Dog Bite You Twice - 3:39
11. How Long? - 5:19
12. Too Much Jawbone - 3:00

RATSO is a band that records on RIFF RAT RECORDS and the band consists of JOHN "RATSO" GERARDI on guitar and vocals, FONDA FEINGOLD on keyboards and vocals, RICHARD CROOKS on drums, SCOTT SPRAY on bass, STEVE HARDWICK on guitar and vocals and ANGEL RISSOFF on vocals. On "WATER RISING", which consists of 12 very bluesy, very jazzy, very funky and extremely vibrant originals, they are joined by a slew of outstanding guest artists. As I mention the tracks that particularly impressed me - and mostly all of them did - I will give credit to some of the guests.
"MAKE IT STICK", is a perfect opening track. It immediately had me shaking in my seat - and I love when that happens - and made it very difficult for me to type. It's a funky DR. JOHN sounding track that's really jazzed up. JEFF BOVA on Hammond B3 and Synthesizer along with some excellent vocals make this a standout. "HARDER BY THE MINUTE" is a very similar track which keeps the funky thing going on and features some nice baritone sax solos by JOE MEO.
"COLD FRONT" is one of the bluesiest tracks on "WATER RISING", and needless to say, one of my personal favorites. The keyboard work is outstanding and guest drummer Andy La Due definitely spices up the rhythm section. The next track, "THE BLUES IS WHAT YOU FEEL", just kept taking the direction of this CD more down into the blues and the further it went the more I started liking it. The vocals and the guitar on this track are what the blues is all about, or as the title states........what you feel.
Strangely, but yet tastefully, two tracks "NO CANDLE" and "THIS THING CALLED LOVE" provide a little reggae and little calypso/island sound to this CD. On both of these tracks the percussion work of FRED WOLCOTT is outstanding.
"DON'T LET THE SAME DOG BITE YOU TWICE" is all 'RATSO'. It's a straight up, hard driving, fast paced, smokin' guitar licks filled track with excellent vocals. This one got the replay button hit more than once.
"TOO MUCH JAWBONE" ends this CD with an interesting flavor. It's a tasty little number featuring lots of Dixie Land with a bit of Jug Band with some Leon Redbone style vocals. Outstanding were JOE BOERST, on the upright bass; RICHARD CROOKS, on washboard and jaw harp; JOHN GOLDSCHMID, on piano and JOE MEO, on clarinet and giggle. Indeed a fun track to listen to.
I must admit that this CD certainly was a surprise hit with me. I guess it's that first impression thing. Looking at the CD cover in conjunction with the name RATSO had me thinking "oh no - another rock CD that claims to be blues". However, I was pleasantly surprised and pleased that I was wrong. "WATER RISING" is quite enjoyable listening

If we bring together in a studio legendary harp player Ñaco Goñi (Tonky Blues Band, Jokers, Malcolm Scarpa, Ñaco Goñi y Bluescavidas), along with a true piano blues icon like the Donostiarra pianist and singer Paul San Martin (Stay Blues, Paul San Martin trio, The Fake Cousins), and we add, on one side, brilliant guitar player and singer from Madrid Edu Bighands (Dinamita Blues Band, Ñaco Goñi y los Bluescavidas, Whiskey Train, Edu Bighands) and, on the other, Granada´s guitar player and singer Fernando Beiztegui, completing the lineup with Catalan drummer Martí Elías (Mambo Jambo, Ray Gelato), La Blues Company is undoubtedly the best news any Blues fan could hope for in recent times.
Talking about La Blues Company, besides being the title of Ñaco Goñi and the first record published by Gaztelupeko Hotsak, is mainly talking about Donostia’s legendary La Gatera club. A place with a long history and a national reference that has been the cultural lifeblood of Donostia’s nights for over ten years. A club far away from fashions and passing trends, which preserved the blues spirit against all odds under Jon Gurruchaga and Santi Parra management.  25 years after its final closure, Jon takes the initiative to gather some of the genre’s most important performers.

At the request of my brother from Preston. But, only Bitrate:224K/s
Artist, musician and founder of the Kingbees
Frank Latorre is a Five time winner of the Long Island blues to Memphis challenge 2014 Grammy certificate best blues category.
An accomplished harmonica player, guitarist and singer, Frank has played with many Blues and Rock greats, including and most recently Johnny Winter. You can hear his mojo working on Johnny’s new release, “Roots” and on Johnny Winters new CD (his last) “Step Back” Frank plays on Killing Floor! Other guest appearances include Winger’s “Down Incognito”, Sam Taylor’s “Blue Tears” and Peter Green’s CD “I’ve Got the Blues for Christmas”, as well as many others. Frank’s videos can be seen on youtube.com. Frank Latorre, Long Island-based artist has worked in a wide variety of art mediums throughout his career. Starting in the early 70’s, he began custom airbrushing motorcycles, vans, boats and cars. Many of his creations won trophies and awards for the vehicles’ owners and his work has been published in many car and motorcycle magazines, including Easyriders, Iron Horse and Hot Rod.In the early 1980s, Frank became interested in the art of sandblasted glass and soon mastered the art of etching and carving glass. His work has been recognized and mentioned in publications such as The New York Times, Newsday and The Southampton Press . Many of his works can be seen decorating fine homes and restaurants across Long Island. Airbrush painting on canvas and hard board became the next area of interest, and, combining his two loves of art and Blues music, Frank produced a series of portraits of great Blues and Rock legends such as Jimi Hendrix and BB King. His freehand style of airbrushing has given these photo realist portraits a ghostly effect. In the early 90s, wall murals became, and continue to be, another area of Frank’s expertise. He has decorated rooms, stairways and halls in fine homes and restaurants across the East Coast . Subjects range from Italian landscapes and faux windows in Italian restaurants and private residences to an old-fashioned drive-in scene for a family entertainment room to forest fantasies in children’s rooms. If a client can dream it up, Frank will produce it!
For the past few years, Frank has concentrated on acrylic painting and has produced a number of diverse series. Large and colorful butterflies has been one favorite, followed by whimsical women’s portraits – large canvases with wide strokes of vibrant color accentuating the faces. One of these portraits was recently on the cover of the 50th anniversary Dan’s Papers. Moonbeams, local landscapes and seascapes and ocean-related subjects are all part of Frank’s current output. The ocean beaches and dunes of eastern Long Island are an unending source of inspiration for him. There is no subject he won’t attempt and he welcomes all commissions. And for those who would like to be a part of the art experience, Frank also offers painting classes at Art & Soul. Frank’s work earned him the “Westhampton Artist of the Year” 2011 award and he was chosen “Favorite Long Island Artist” 2010 by Gormusart, an association of gourmet chefs, musicians and artists. THE MUSICIAN Frank’s love of Blues music led him to found The Kingbees, a blues group which has been chosen to represent Long Island 4 times at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee: in 2003, 2010, 2001 and 2013. He derived the name from Slim Harpo’s classic blues song, “I’m a King Bee”.

In June 2021, Rock’n’roll band RIVAL SONS delivered two live performances from Catalina Island, CA. They were originally streamed via VEEPS to fans at home across the world, many of whom were still in lockdown because of the Covid-19 pandemic. RIVAL SONS set out from their homes in L.A. and Long Beach, and on a friend’s yacht they sailed over to Catalina Island with all their equipment and their crew, to perform in the Catalina Casino for global audiences. Frontman Jay Buchanan comments: “‘Pair Of Aces’ was recorded over two days in May of 2021 at the Casino in Avalon Bay on Santa Catalina Island, California. Part One (‘Before The Fire’) was recorded in the ballroom on May 19th and part two (‘Rival Sons’ EP) was recorded in the historic theater on May 20th.”

At the time, the band stated: “We’ve all been through so much this past year and a half. We have longed to be on the road playing for you. As you know, we launched our label Sacred Tongue Recordings and have been re-releasing our early material. We felt that revisiting these first two records in a live, prestigious setting was the best way to give them the first-class treatment that our humble beginnings couldn’t provide.”
Buchanan states: “To finally release both audio and video of these performances feels good. When we recorded these performances, the band was neck deep in what was to become the DARKFIGHTER/LIGHTBRINGER collection so breaking away from all of that heavy lifting to go blow some dust off of our origin story felt amazing. It’s a raw, unfiltered glimpse at a band raging against the isolation of the times.” Santa Catalina Island is a rocky island, off the coast of Southern California in the Gulf of Santa Catalina. The island covers an area of about 75 square miles. The Catalina Casino is a 92-year-old building built by The Wrigleys. Dominating the Avalon landscape from its regal perch along the bay, the casino exemplifies the style and romance of Catalina Island. Buchanan elaborates, “It had been a dream of mine to play the Casino since I’d gone there as a child. Through the pandemic years we’d had the intention to record a live stream, but we’d been turned off by how terribly we’d seen it go for so many bands. We wanted to record a performance where we were just playing for each other without an audience. Generate the energy together for the sake of doing it. Along with everyone else, we hadn’t been able to tour or play shows at all in over fifteen months and it was killing us.”
Guitarist Scott Holiday comments: “You can see Catalina Island from the beach town I live in. I’ve been visiting it for years. Every time I’ve gone, I’ve made sure to visit the old historic casino that sits proudly at one end of the harbor in Avalon. And every time I’ve taken the tour I’ve thought the same thing…wouldn’t it be so great to play in these rooms and make a live film? And so…Rival Sons did just that.”
At the time the band stated: “It is beautiful, and perfectly exudes how we wanted to portray these recordings”. Scott elaborates: “In recognition of the 10-year anniversary of our first 2 albums, we played each album in its entirety over 2 different nights. One night in the ballroom (in the round!) performing ‘Before the Fire,’ and the next night we played the self-titled record in the old movie theatre. It was every bit as cool and interesting as I’d hoped. A real honor and pleasure to fill this beautiful place with sound. The director did a great job capturing it for everyone to share in the experience with us and now it will be available to listen and watch anytime you’d like.”

10. Sittin' & Cryin' the Blues - 6:25

Mikey Junior burst onto the blues scene less than a dozen years ago and since that time has amassed an impressive catalog of music and praise from both music fans and industry insiders.
When the oldest continuously running blues society in the world says you're the "real deal", that has to mean something. When blues forums toss your name around with the likes of harmonica masters like Little Walter and Sonny Boy...that has to mean something.
Of course, there will always be skeptics.
But to the blues fans of the northeast Unites States Mikey Jr. is chasing the masters at a pace that's frightening.
Growing up on the tough streets of Trenton, New Jersey, Mikey Jr. is a self-taught prodigy. With his impressive collection of vintage tapes, cd's, records, and videos, Mikey spent the better part of his youth immersing himself in the world of blues music. By the time he was twenty-one, he was allready a road-tested player, making even a ardent blues purists, take notice.Mikey Jr. never set out to re-write the pages of blues history, but through his true love of the music and his undying dedication to the masters that came before him, it seemsall but certainthat Mikey Jr. will scribe his name in the annals of blues history - right along side the very masters that influence his every performance.

Snake Mary - 11 17

Tracks Listing:
 1. Dystopia - 3:50
 2. Holly Got A Monkey - 4:50
 3. Let's Walk In The Fire - 3:25
 4. Lay By The River - 4:48

 7. Sucker - 4:07
 8. Then, Of Course - 5:04
 9. Cry No More - 3:51
10. All Our Birds Have Flown - 5:07

Snake Mary is a newly formed band that has just sprouted up from the roots of UK blues rock.  The group is the culmination of guitarist and songwriter Kevin Barber’s efforts to complete the album he’d always been meant to record. After a fourteen-month long quest in search for the perfect Voice to sing his music, Barber stumbled upon Beccy Brennan at seedy jam session in Germany. Snake Mary was finally perfected when the last missing piece of the puzzle—Brennan’s partner Damon—popped up to serve as drummer. The debut album 11 17 opens hard with “Dystopia,” a powerful track nurtured by a wailing harmonica and cautionary lyrics bemoaning the ills of humanity. The silly second track “Holly Got A Monkey” highlights Damon’s drumming and includes vocals by Barber as well as Brennan. On “Let’s Walk In The Fire,” Snake Mary showcases their versatility and dynamic sounds, utilizing a double bass and vocal looping on Brennan. “Lay By The River” is a toe-tapping track with surprisingly macabre lyrics, followed by the ballad “Consequences,” the band’s first single. “And You Will Know My Name” is a grittier track written in the spirit of vengeance, while “Sucker” is a sexy, bluesy track speaking of a love affair that shouldn’t be. “Cry No More” opens with an enticing blues riff and follows through with Brennan’s authoritative vocals and Barber’s guitar shredding. Brennan’s voice evokes Karen Carpenter in the album’s acoustic closing track, “All Our Birds Have Flown,” while Barber also incorporates a delicate string section.Snake Mary is the manifestation of Barber’s lifelong musical aspirations. Drawing inspiration from figures such as Rory Gallagher and Joe Bonamassa, Barber blends aspects from country, blues, rock, and at times soul, to create a varied and eclectic sound. Barber should be proud to have successfully recorded the album that he’d always dreamt of, and should be prepared gain a following of blues fans that enjoy his album.

"The Used Blues Band" is a 5 piece high energy guitar & harmonica driven dance blues band. Voted the best blues act by the "Sacramento Blues Society" for the last 2 years, internationally recognized as semi-finalist in the prestigious "International Blues Challenge" in Memphis for 2012 and 2013 and one of the most popular blues bands in northern California. With a recently released CD, a recording contract signed with "Tate Music Group Records" for the next CD, the band is ready to perform anywhere, anytime!
A roadie from the age of 13, Sean "Harmonica Mac" McGroarty traveled the country with some of the biggest rock & blues bands of the late 70's & early 80's. Later learning to play the blues harp himself, Sean has taught under and performed with "Blues Hall Of Fame" legend Darrell Mansfield and others such as Tommy Castro, Rod Piazza and Ana Popovic. Awarded "Harmonica Player Of The Year" and "Band Leader Of The Year" for 2013 by the "West Coast Blues Hall Of Fame" as well as a finalist for the "International Blues Challenge Best Harmonica Player Award" in Memphis sponsored by Lee Oskar for 2012 and 2013, Sean and "The Used Blues Band" have performed at the world famous "Monterey Blues Festival" as well as countless clubs and with other blues artists throughout California.
Gary "Guitar" Anthony is a seasoned guitarist having spent over 20 years as a professional studio guitarist, is one of the newest members of the "Las Vegas Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame" and he has performed with Brent Midland of "The Grateful Dead", Jazz Hammond great Terell Prude', blues singer Archie Johnson and many more. Touring at venues such as "Disneyland", "Harrah's Tahoe", "Circle Star Theater" and the "Concord Pavilion", Gary loves the stage and puts on a show every time he performs. His quality of "From The Gut" blues riffs is moving every time he plays.
Raymond Victor has worked as a studio musician in Los Angeles for ten years recording with Sly Stone, Steve Wonder, Bobby Womac and Larry Graham, and has performed with Bobby "Blue" Bland, Big Momma Thorton, Elvin Bishop, Kathi MacDonald, Steve Freund, "Red Archibald and The Internationals" and Luther Tucker.
Diane Dutra, a bassist since the age of 9, soon began playing in the big leagues touring and performing with the likes of Marty Balin of "Jefferson Starship", Luther Tucker, Jimmy McCracklin, Red Archbald and Alvon Johnson from "The Coasters". She knows his way around the fret board and her bass tone and chops are a welcome addition to the band as well as her great vocals.
A full time teacher and performing musician, Steve Trovao is a professional from the word go. As one would expect, Steve has played with the standard laundry list of world class musicians and covers blues rock and many other styles. He is solid and reliable which in the blues world, seperates him from most drummers.
The "Blues Crew" is our legendary list of special guests who sit in with the band at many of our shows such as Alvon Johnson (formerly of "The Coasters"), "Blues Hall Of Fame" giant Darrell Mansfield, "Grammy" winning artist Ira Walker, Bobby Ray Watson (formerly with Ike Turner) and many more.
