Sammy David Lawhorn (1935-1990) - American blues guitarist and singer. At the age of 15, he began his musical career. In the late 1950s he moved to Chicago. He began playing with Muddy Waters in the mid-1960s. He collaborated with Waters until the late 1970s (took part in the recordings "Live" (At Mr. Kelly’s) and The London Muddy Waters Sessions). He also accompanied Waters' band with such musicians as Big Mama Thornton, John Lee Hooker and Otis Spann. In 1973 he was dismissed from the group for drunkenness. "After Hours" is the only bluesman solo album. After leaving Muddy Waters, Sammy Lawhorn organized his own group, with which he performed in clubs in Chicago (in particular, he regularly performed in the Theresa’s club). Participated in the recording of the albums "Take Me Back" by James Cotton and "On Tap" by Junior Wells.
