The Tailgators were a great roots rock band from Austin.  The band has put out some great music on all of their cd's. But this is the one that I can consider their masterpiece. If you love great guitar playing, Don Leady is one of the most underrated players in Texas. He cooks with a biting guitar on every note of this cd, and it never let's up. A great mix of surf, like the title tune Surf's Up to some of the best roots rock that I've ever heard like Look Up and Feel Like I'm Falling, to some outright killer instrumentals like Ride Of The Ruthless, Dust Devil & Blue Northern. He even throws in a unique version of the blast from the past 60's classic Psychotic Reaction. If you are into great guitar albums, I promise you'll be hooked from the first note. Don and the boys rock. Thanks for all of the great music over the years. Especially for this classic!
