A concept EP about navigating through life's journey.
2020 has been a challenging year for everyone, no matter your occupation. People working in the music industry are no exception. With live shows coming to a halt and studios closing their doors, I have spent my time during the pandemic with my family in a cozy one room cabin on the Tenn-Tom Waterway outside Tupelo, MS. When I wasn't chasing a toddler or watching Scooby Doo, I kept myself busy by writing and rehearsing new material, and recording a new EP to document the time I've spent here. Here are a few things I've learned from the whole experience. If you ever want a brutally honest and completely unbiased reaction to a song, play it for an infant. This was the first lesson I learned when I began writing songs here at the cabin. As I mentioned earlier, there's only one room here. So when I would play through a new song, she could hear me and would react in one of two ways. If she liked the way it sounded, she would smile, laugh, dance etc. If not, she would scream at the top of her lungs until I stopped playing. There was one song she hated so much that she pooped herself during the performance. Even Simon Cowell has never taken it that far. As tough of a critic as she was, the insight that she gave me into the natural human reaction to music played a huge role in the creation of this EP.
