When someone says STOP like he does, you can assume he means exactly the opposite: internationally renowned Blues guitarist and composer Hubert Dorigatti hails from South Tyrol and over the last few years has surprised on several occasions with albums which sound like they come straight from New Orleans or New York, with an authenticity which could easily cause listeners to jump to the wrong conclusions about the origins of the music: Those who have been following Dorigatti for some time will know that the Blues of South Tyrol is just the same as anywhere else because this style of music is not tied to a specific location – it is more about the person playing it not being halted by what the rest of the world thinks: Don’t STOP!
When it comes to the album title, another interpretation applies here: STOP is Dorigatti’s highly personal contribution to international climate policy. Those who know Dorigatti know how he ticks – and that his music is unstoppable, making its way from his deepest being out into the world. Joseph Rosen undoubtedly discovered this for himself because the celebrity photographer, who has snapped all the big names from Blues Heaven (including Muddy Waters and Johnny Winter), decided to contribute to the photographs for Dorigatti’s new album STOP. For Dorigatti, STOP is a natural continuation and progression of his previous album Memphisto and is less minimalist, when it comes to the instruments. Guest musicians such as Dan Walsh (banjo) and Fabrizio Poggi (harp) also make their mark and add their tones to the sounds of the new album. The previous album Memphisto attracted a great deal of attention and the musician from the Puster Vallley clocked up many successes on Blues stages across the world as well as receiving numerous international concerts invitations and substantial international airplay for the album. The new release will be published on Appaloosa rec label. A well known Italian Blues Label. Dorigatti hopes to draw on this success and creates an underlying acoustic feel, bringing to life a whole new side of his very personal Blues as an audible gift to the world. And we can’t wait!
