The blues is one of the great American contributions to the world. It reaches down to the heart of the human condition in the most direct way and transcends all boundaries. It is the truth and we know it when we hear it. We are lucky enough to have some of these original blues artists still with us to share the music in it’s purest form. CeDell Davis is one of those artists. At 90 years old he is living history. I am very excited to bring CeDell Davis to National Sawdust for this very special performance.
Legendary Bluesman CeDell Davis returns with the finest album of his career, "Even The Devil Gets The Blues." At 90 years old, CeDell Davis has made THE album of his best original songs, stories, and blues classics, all of which were recorded and produced in Seattle by Screaming Trees/Mad Season/Tuatara drummer Barrett Martin. The backing band features several Seattle music legends such as Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, REM guitarist Scott McCaughey, Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin, saxophonist Skerik, and a slew of other jazz and blues musicians. This is the defining album of CeDell's extremely long career and he's got the best players backing him up. To be released worldwide on October 14th 2016 on Barrett Martin's imprint label, Sunyata Records.
