Legendary Blues singer FINIS TASBY'S has paid his dues many times over and his Electro-Fi debut should garner him the acclaim he so richly deserves. The Texas born, California based Blues master is joined on the CD by guitar greats MEL BROWN and ENRICO CRIVELLARO. Finis who wrote 9 of the twelve tracks on the disc, uses his ultra soulful voice to take the listener on an unforgetable tour of his life and loves. Find out what John Lee Hooker, Lowell Fulson and Freddie King all knew. Finis Tasby is the Blues Singers Blues Singer. Toronto’s Electro-Fi Records has made a commitment to record the best of traditional American blues men and women. Here, the focus is on West Coast singer Finis Tasby.Lately, you can hear Tasby as the vocalist with Delta Groove’s Mannish Boys Revue. For most of the record, Tasby is joined by blues guitar legend Mel Brown, and guitarist Enrico Crivellaro, harmonica player David Rotundo, and pianist Julian Fauth guide Tasby through eight originals and four covers. Tasby is equally adept at singing blues as he is on the soul side of the street. The opening cut, “Let’s Have A Ball,” jumps out in the style of Big Joe Turner. Brown adds a veteran guitar to Percy Mayfield’s “Baby Please,” and Tasby’s politically charged “America.” On the blues side of the street, Little Walter’s classic “Mean Old World” has Brown’s piano weaving with Rotundo’s harp. The multi-instrumental Brown also plays organ on three cuts. The disc closes with a bonus track, “Ugly Woman Blues,” a 10-minute slow guitar-organ blues twister. Tasby sings every song from the position of the truth. His leathery vocals are born from livin’ the blues, so when he sings, you can’t help but listen. Thanks to Delta Groove and Electro-Fi Records for giving Tasby the vehicle to tell his blue stories.
