Frank Macchia is a composer, orchestrator, multi-woodwind instrumentalist and copyist based in Los Angeles, CA. He has three Grammy nominations for the Best Instrumental Arrangement category and was a National Endowment Grant award recipient. He has worked on over 470 films and television shows since 1992, and has collaborated, orchestrated, transcribed, copied or recorded woodwinds for Tyler Bates, Gary Chang, George S. Clinton, John Debney, Ramin Djawadi, Danny Elfman, Michael Giacchino, Harry Gregson-Williams, Rupert Gregson-Williams, Larry Groupe, Todd Hayen, Mark Isham, Steve Jablonsky, Mark Mancina, Alan Menken, Blake Neely, John Ottman, Van Dyke Parks, Heitor Pereira, Trevor Rabin, Bill Ross, Lalo Schifrin, Joe Trapanese, John Williams, Geoff Zanelli, and Hans Zimmer. He has produced, composed, arranged and performed on 20 albums under his name and has had performances of his music by the San Francisco Symphony, the Kansas City Symphony, the Moscow Orchestra, and the Prague Orchestra.
A native of San Francisco, CA, he received a bachelor's degree in composition from Berklee College of Music and subsequently taught arranging and harmony there at the age of 21. He was the staff arranger for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno for 18 years and worked extensively at the Disney Music Library for over 20 years, orchestrating, arranging, transcribing and copying music for numerous film, television, live performance and record projects. In addition to playing saxophone and woodwinds on many projects he has conducted many orchestral recording sessions for films, record dates and videos. He was on the Board of Governors for NARAS, was a Sundance Composer Fellow in 2004 and is a member of AFM Local 47 and the Recording Musicians Association/
