Tomi Leino has been touring for years with both his own band and to the accompaniment of foreign artists such as RJ Mischo, West Weston and Steve Guyger. With the latter, he made the great album "Keep On Movin '" in 2007. As a blues musician, Leino is multi-talented. He started his career as a drummer and is still the top cast in our country. As a guitarist, he is also top notch and it is in that role that Tomi has backed up visiting artists. But at his best, Leino is a harpist and vocalist. Only now (!) Is he releasing the first CD in his own name. The playing friends are also some of the best in the country: Sammeli Palovaara (guitar), Kari Karpo (bass) and Jarkko Lepistö (drums). Everyone has internalized the electronic cityblues of the 1950s and 60s, especially the basic idea and subtleties of Chicago. Karpo even said once that no significant blues has been produced since the 60s. He probably wasn't quite serious, after all, this release is an example of the species living and doing well. We’ve heard a lot of records that flirt with different musical genres. However, this is an honest single-gen compilation. Little Walter inevitably comes to mind as a benchmark for Leino’s harp playing. He plays all the harp songs electronically, that is, by cup. In other words, the finest possible Chess-style sound. If Muddy Waters were still alive, he would certainly qualify Tomi Leino as his harpist where Jerry Portnoy, Jeff Carp, George Smith, Mojo Buford, and numerous other legends. As a singer, Leino is also talented. His pronunciation, phrasing, and pacing are exactly what needs to be in this genre. Tomi plays the guitar with a couple of songs. "Meet Me At Midnight" is a T-Bone Walker-style slow strolling. "Snake Bite" mimics Freddie King's "San-Ho-Zay." Everything else is a harmonica and song feast and equipped with great backgrounds. If you want to look for something reprehensible in this release, it's the total duration of the album (35:37). I would rather listen to such good music. It should also be mentioned that all the songs are Tomi Leino's own compositions. "Dynamite Boogie" is a great blues album that ranks in the best A group even in an international comparison.
