Produced by Grammy award winning producer Isaac Nossel (Jack Bruce, Robin Trower, Paul McCartney, Paul Young, Roger Daltry, Jeff Beck, Maggie Bell, Dana Gillespie) the debut album by Ben Poole displays a far more mature sound compared to previous recordings. Recorded at Isaac’s studio and at Bernie Torme’s (Ozzy Osbourne/Ian Gillan) studio (where the ‘Everything I Want’ EP was cut) it also establishes Ben as a well-rounded musician, proving himself as a competent songwriter and vocalist as well as an accomplished guitarist. On the album seven of the songs are Ben Poole originals, two are co-writes with producer Isaac and three are covers including the Otis Redding/Steve Cropper song Mr. Pitiful and the Anne Peebles original I’m Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down with which Paul Young had a top 10 hit way back in 1984. Joining Ben on the album are Ben’s regular band-mates Barry Pethers on bass and Alan Taylor on drums, and he’s also joined by Ruf Records recording artist Dani Wilde on backing vocals on six of the twelve tracks. Also featuring Chris Lebon on Cello and Mark ‘Card’ Earl on drums and percussion as well as a handful of other very talented musicians.
