A Contra Blues is a well-established band on the national blues scene. Since its founding in 2005, it has performed on numerous national and international stages and has released four albums. Their repertoire combines tradition and heterodoxy, blending naturally as they perform their own compositions with classics of blues and American music with freshness and maturity. As a result of these qualities, their performances seamlessly combine spontaneity and elaborate arrangements. Their energetic shows, lasting up to 180 minutes, are an experience full of strength, solidity, and empathy. A Contra Blues lives for and through the live show, achieving natural feedback from the audience and moments of climax, both in the highest dynamics and in the most intimate passages. A performance that leaves no one indifferent. A Contra Blues is the winning band of the 2014 European Blues Challenge held in Riga, Latvia. A Contra Blues are: Alberto Calvillo (electric guitar, harmonica, ukulele and backing vocals), Héctor Martín (electric guitar, banjo, Lap Steel and backing vocals), Joan Vigo (double bass and electric bass), Jonathan Herrero (vocals and acoustic guitar) and Núria Perich (drums and backing vocals).
