There was a very promising first EP in 2017, followed by performances all over the place, before "Make It Happen" arrived like a flying saucer in the funk world. With this opus from Hawa Sow & The Soul Seeders, there is true originality, respectful of what this wonderful musical style is, by remarkable artists, who have a beautiful collective and humanist conscience.
"Make It Happen" is also a culinary story, with international ingredients mixed in Sydney by Nathan Aust (aka Nate Goldentone, Daptone Records, Record Kicks, Dojo Cuts, etc.). A delight in terms of mastering by Golden Mastering, in California, which is enriched with backing vocals, a string quartet, percussion, guitar heroes, and the fabulous collaboration of Arnaud Fradin (Malted Milk) on the track "Yesterday." Vocally, and until now in this musical style in Europe, only the group Malted Milk reached such a level of performance, but here, with “Make It Happen”, we are in a different universe, with masterful voices, choirs that fall from the sky as if it were raining, enough to make our friends from the show Funktropolis in Omaha (USA) dream, with this beautiful originality that sounds with an inimitable singularity. There is even a big gap in styles between funk, soul and world music, and you have to listen carefully which, in any case, will bring up in our little feverish brains, sounds and rhythms that captivate us. A title like “My Eyes” reminds me for a very personal reason of the late Minnie Ripperton, which is why I might as well tell you that this album deserves to be purchased in the form of a CD that you will find at their concerts and which promises to be a “collector’s item” that will last for years and even decades without any problem ~ Thierry Docmac (Bayou Blue Radio).
