Formed in Frankfurt, Germany, in the mid-80s, the band became very popular on the national blues circuit. The four members, Klaus ‘Mojo’ Kilian (vocals, harmonica, slide guitar), Bernd Simon (vocals/guitar), Detlef Schmidt (bass), and George Viel (drums), were still performing together in the new millennium.
This 1995 CD is the most elaborate production: four sessions, three of them live, with renowned guests such as Christian Rannenberg (piano), Thomas Feldmann (tenor saxophone), and Bob Margolin, Muddy Waters' longtime guitarist.
The renowned US jazz and blues magazine Cadence commented:

The renowned US jazz and blues magazine Cadence commented:
"Four Of A Kind cooks from the opening harp intro to the horn fade at the end. Instead of opting for a more commercial sound, Matchbox Bluesband dug deeper into their roots while expanding their scope.
Frontman Kilian sounds even more confident than before, and his harp playing is quite impressive. All in all, an excellent example of the power (and fun) of the blues. Recommended."
