An explosive guitarist from Nantes and a sensitive singer with a devastating falsetto, Arnaud Fradin now enjoys, through Malted Milk, an aura that extends beyond France. For two decades, Arnaud has scoured the European and American soul-blues scenes, having honed his craft with the best masters of Memphis and Mississippi. This spectacular success has never distracted Arnaud from his roots.
Three years ago, alongside his work with Malted Milk and Memphis singer Toni Green, he decided to return to his first love: the most "roots" Mississippi blues. In full collaboration with virtuoso harmonica player Thomas Troussier, he imagined a duo as a tribute to the masters of the genre. In the process, he laid the foundations for the Roots Combo. After three seasons of intimate concerts, the desire to enrich the duo with color and rhythms came to fruition with the arrival of Igor Pichon (double bass) and Richard Housset (percussion). Igor and Richard, beyond their flawless groove, possess a creative sense and a taste for arrangements that give an original identity to this entirely acoustic quartet. Within a supple and mellow rhythmic setting, Arnaud and Thomas give free rein to inhabited improvisations where slide and harmonica riffs intersect, through a repertoire in which Lightnin' Hopkins, Muddy Waters, and Skip James coexist warmly. The recipe for Roots Combo, a delicious gumbo of raw emotion and fresh blues roots, is both simple and incredibly effective. A true source of youth, with an original twist.
