Jones brings to the table equal talent of challenging songwriting and bungee jumping guitar playing. On the songwriting end, he underscores blues musicians as modern-day troubadours in "I Am a Loner." As a guitarist, he avoids the pitfalls of Albert King copycatting, by taking King's note bending, then migrates into his own hand-stamped brand of blues in "Long Distance Love." Hash Brown fries it up on several cuts, and makes one wonder why he's remained a regional favorite in Texas when he should catch the blues world's attention. Piping hot is Dave Therault on harp, notably on Eddie Kirkland's "Picking Up the Pieces," while Jones gets down with some meat-searing guitar.
