Multi-genre singer/songwriter, producer, recording artist and proud member of the Recording Academy (and a Grammy Voter since 2020), Justine Blazer, recently announced the upcoming release of her debut blues album "Girl Singing the Blues." There are ten original tracks on the album, featuring collaborations and duets with BB King's daughter, Claudette King, Grammy-winner Larry Mitchell, Billboard charting composer Kitt Wakeley, multi-award winning recording artist Natalie Jean, Gospel singer Kezia Alford, trumpet player Syreeta Thompson, Detroit blues guitarist Kerry Adams, sax player Suzanne Grzanna, award-winning Texas artist Damian Wyldes and more. "I'm so excited to be releasing my debut blues album," Justine exclaims. "Girl Singing the Blues is my eighth studio album and I feel like this is some of my best work to date. Being originally from Detroit, I grew up around the blues, R&B and Motown. My parents listened to all the greats - Aretha Franklin, Martha Reeves, Mitch Ryder, The Temptations, Etta James and more! I actually started off in a blues band in Detroit with my brother in law, blues guitarist, Rex Mason. We actually won the Detroit Blues Challenge in the mid to late 2000s, but I ended up singing country music instead - which I have always loved, too!" I produced, mixed and mastered this project in its entirety. I had the privilege to write with some amazing writers including Grammy nominated composer, Armand Hutton, Shay Watson, Claudette King, Tom Bender, Corey Lee Barker and Lou Molitch. Also this project includes some of the best musicians in Nashville including songs with Miles McPherson, Smith Curry, Tim Marks, Jeff Bradshaw, Brian Jones, Alan Baker, Nick Buda, Lou Molitch and more! "Girl Singing the Blues" includes Justine's current single (and debut blues release), "Bad Love" (featured in Billboard Magazine), which is now played on radio worldwide.

Sterling Koch - Slide Ruler (Full Force Music / High Tone Music Group)
Sterling Koch is a renowned lap steel guitarist, with a rock solid reputation as both a session player and a solo artist. Blues is his chosen genre, and for his latest album he's recruited a band of heavyweights including bassist Tommy Shannon (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter) and Grammy nominated drummer Chet McCracken (Doobie Brothers). That's quite a rhythm section, and they hold the groove down in some style, allowing Koch the space to really play. There are plenty of standout tunes to be found on "Slide Ruler" and in the best blues tradition; Koch delights in playing, and bringing something fresh and vital to the standards of the genre. He's also not averse to dropping the odd surprise track into a set, and it's great to hear Santo and Johnny Farina's 1959 classic "Sleep Walk" get a muscular re-working. Equally impressive is the first single lifted from the album, a strapping version of Dion DiMucci's "If You Wanna Rock `n' Roll" - I bet it sounds great on the radio. On Roosevelt Sykes' "Driving Wheel" Koch gets to show off his slide guitar capabilities to full effect and he's just as good on Johnny Winter's "I'm A Bluesman", where he plucks a fine solo. If you were under the illusion that the lap steel guitar was only for playing country music, head over to Koch's website, or YouTube, and get yourself a rounded musical education.

Fabrice fell into Rock'n Roll and the Blues at a very young age, but it was later, inspired by Sonny Boy Williamson or Jean Jacques Milteau, that he took up the harmonica. Fabrice now accompanies Hervé Loison on stage. While some are horrified by the music at their neighbour's, Gilbert fell in love with his neighbor drummer's playing. From the height of his 9 years he improvised drummer on box of cookies and barrels of detergent! At 20, finally a real battery! Happiness to learn alone then with a teacher. To go even further, he joined the EF2M in 2000. Gauthier does not spend a day without listening to English Rock, Soul, Blues or even Jazz. This music lover started playing bass in 2004, then shortly after he met his alter ego! Damien and he understand each other like dolphins with ultrasound. They thus created two groups together, you have before your eyes the birth of the third. Damien meets his first electric guitar at the age of 16 in the evening at a friend's house... and since then he has been chaining them! Fascinated by music and sound, he will start with the guitar, abandoning it a little in favor of the double bass! Yes Little Dan is fickle. With his double bass he participated in 4 editions of Béthune Rétro, 2 Blue Monday, he recorded the first album of RHYTHM CALAVERAS in 2017 (It is in Gauthier that Damien places his trust for most of the titles of CALAVERAS RUNNER.), and collaborated in the recording of a track on JAKE CALYPSO's 100 MILES album. With his Wet Dogs, Little Dan returns to his first love and transports you to his world of Rhythm and Blues, soul! In 2019 the band recorded their first composite album at Studio Midnight and then released this one at the Béthune Rétro Festival!

Christina Skjolberg - I'm on Fire

Bitrate: 320K/s
Year: 2022
Time: 31:18
Size: 72,1 MB
Label:
Styles: Rock/Blues Rock
Art: Front

Tracks Listing:
 1. Sugar and Love - 2:31
 2. I'm on Fire - 2:51
 3. Beautiful - 3:31
 4. Strange Man - 3:11
 5. Girl Power - 3:01

 7. Liar - 4:04
 8. Magic Box - 3:01
 9. Yesterday - 3:03
10. Don't Slow Down - 3:26

On August 20th, Christina Skjolberg released her latest CD "I'm on fire". It includes ten songs, all of which she wrote herself. The fire of this power woman can be felt in the songs. As she proves with "Liar", she also loves romantic songs. The virtuoso guitar solos are on the level of rock legends like Eric Clapton and Joe Bonamassa. Nevertheless, Christina Skjolberg has remained a warm-hearted Norwegian without any airs. Norway's best rock guitarist comes from the idyllic town of Kristiansund in Norway's More og Romsdal county. Skjolberg is a picture-perfect Norwegian, having grown up on the island community of Smola in the Nord-More archipelago on the west coast. She started playing the guitar at a young age and then studied for a year at the Trondertun Folkehogskole south of Trondheim. This folks school has made a name for itself as a supplier of talent to The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), which Paul McCartney helped found.
Christina is inspired by musicians from the 1960s and 1970s like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and most notably Jimi Hendrix. On her upper left arm she has a tattoo of the legendary guitarist who, like Skjolberg, was left-handed. This required her Fender guitar to be custom built. The band plays the blues rock in the classic line-up with Christina as the singer and lead guitarist, accompanied by the bass guitar and organ as well as the drummer. She knows how harmoniously a virtuoso guitar playing is accompanied by the organ. The debut album "Come and get it" was released in 2014 and received attention and recognition beyond Norway. Since then, numerous singles and performances have followed. Mostly in Norway but also in Germany where a new tour is planned. With their strong stage presence, the spark jumps quickly to the audience.

At the nucleous of the South Island Rhythm Kings is the Father/Son team of Lazy MIKE MALLON on Vocals and Harmonica, and CARSON MALLON on Guitar and Vocals, creating a musical bond and a fresh spin on early Electric Blues. With their good friend, and long time colaborator DAN “Piano Dano” DUBE’ on Keys adding some Blues seasoning, RICKY RENOUF layin’ it down on Stand Up Bass, and the “Groove Doctor” NICK DOKTER on Drums, all locking in to drive the bottom end. “It has been said the blues is a language we all speak. From an empty wallet to a cold side of the bed, we all experience the blues in some way. It is the expression, or the dialects, that vary from region to region. The searing slide guitar of the Mississippi Delta, the swamp-ridden Louisiana Blues, the uptown horn arrangements of Texas and the West Coast, the soul-stirring electrified harmonica from Chicago; these sounds have gone on to influence the world of music for decades. It is from these traditions that the South Island Rhythm Kings draw their inspiration. In a modern world of digital excess, this is a group of musicians who present a repertoire of old-school, real-deal blues music. You will not find any meaningless virtuosity on the new recording, only the pure expression of blues being reared on the stretch of Highway 1 from Nanaimo down to Victoria. This is the blues of Vancouver Island.” Carson Mallon ’19.

Ronnie Shellist has been honing his harmonica skills for the past 20 years.  His musical career began in 1997 working with singer/songwriter Hugh Fadal from Austin,TX.  Blues great Gary Primich was a huge influence on his music as well as Guy Forsyth and Walter T. Higgs who lived and played in Austin in the mid 90’s.   “If it weren’t for those guys, I never would have pushed as hard as I did to learn how to get that sound out of my harp”  Thanks to a great blues scene in Austin at the time, Ronnie had an up close and personal experiences in the scene that heavily influenced his ultimate musical direction. His style is a combination of mostly Chicago and West Coast blues influenced by funk and jazz greats such as Grant Green and Maceo Parker. In 1998, Ronnie moved to Colorado where he teamed up with the band Available Jones, a high energy funk/rock band, and toured the US in 2000.  He has worked with many greats in Colorado throughout the past 15 years including such locals as John Alex Mason, Lionel Young, Rich Reno, Bob Pellegrino, Rex Peoples and many others. By 2006, Ronnie began posting performances on YouTube which currently have over 10 million views.  Ronnie’s live performances include opening for such greats as BB King, Charlie Musselwhite, Robert Cray and the Neville Brothers.  His  first official CD  was recorded in 2007, titled Chicago Sessions:  Blues Revue said: “the show belongs to Shellist’s toneful harp..” Tom Hyslop, Blues Revue Magazine.  His newest CD “Till Then” was released in March 2012, and features both original songs, and a few classics. It has rave reviews from harmonica greats Kim Wilson and Charlie Musselwhite.Currently Ronnie performs in/around Denver, CO where he resides, but also travels extensively around the U.S. with his music and harmonica workshops. The Galaxie Agency and Vintage LaNell Records are proud to announce the new release for Orphan Jon and The Abandoned.
“After my 2018 debut album “Abandoned No More”, I wanted to write an album that centered on moving on, in spite of, and overcoming. “In Spite Of” is my life’s motto, and it is what has driven me in a positive direction since my childhood. The Covid pandemic initially put the brakes on this album’s production but, as I’ve learned over time, you get to decide what the outcome will be. Sure there are unknowns that can delay your progress, but you alone will determine how it all ends.
And so The Abandoned and I, along with my great friend Alastair Greene who produced, co-wrote and played on the album as well, went into the studio in late January 2021 and got to business on bringing my vision to reality. And even with the unfortunate delays throughout 2021 due to the pandemic, the album was completed this past Spring. I truly appreciate all the love and support of OJATA.”
Orphan Jon is an American Roots and Blues artist originally from Bakersfield, California. OJATA; often referred to by fans of Orphan Jon while touring with his band The Abandoned, was formed in 2015 by vocalist and songwriter Jon English. In the Fall of 2017 he was signed to SoCal’s highly respected and well established blues label Rip Cat Records. Since forming, OJATA has steadily grown in popularity due in part to it’s high energy and musical passion they display while performing. They’re a grassroots band that loves the connection they have with audiences in whatever setting. Roots and Blues is their life blood, and it shows in their ever popular eclectic originals; and the few selective interpreted covers, they bring to every show. It is the bands goal to captivate the audience from the first note struck until the last chord is played while entertaining them both musically and visually. Orphan Jon simply put, is a very unique artist; and along with his touring band The Abandoned, has an energy and style that not only captures the traditional fans of the blues, but also has them steadily gaining a younger audience as well. One SoCal writer said, “when you see and hear OJATA you’re taken on a journey through the ups and downs, the twists and turns, peaks and valleys of the vibrancy of love and everyday living through their music. They are a rare breed full of spirit and charisma, and they put on a show that is both energetic and captivating with a tight sound like no other.”
“Orphan” Jon English’s vocals are a moving musical tapestry; they’re emotional, heartfelt, intense and at times very soulful and yearning, he has no inhibitions when it comes to leaving his heart and soul fully exposed to the listeners. That’s just how he is. Full disclosure on life. His life; in song. A life that everyone in some form or fashion can connect and relate to. Along with Orphan Jon’s vocals is his special guest lead guitarist; at times a co-writer, but always a journeyman, and an artist that will showcase a flowing, rhythmic, harmonious blend of string manipulations as that invites your soul on a cosmic colorful expedition to places you might’ve never been before. Then there’s his stellar rhythm section that has a steady uplifting, driving, subtle and powerful bassist that takes your heartbeat on a vast rousing journey, accompanied with the energetic, captivating, influential dynamics of the drummer, and you have The Abandoned.
Orphan Jon, and The Abandoned, is a band that totally captures the essence of what American Music is all about; hard work, rough life, grinding days, moving souls, touching hearts and heartfelt love, day to day, and all the time.

Tommy McLain - I Ran Down Every Dream

11. If You Don't Love Me - 3:43
12. Before I Grow Too Old - 2:48
13. London Too - 4:56

Can crooners still croon past 80? Tommy McLain is determined to find out. Thanks to guitarist-raconteur-fellow Louisianan C.C. Adcock, swamp pop singer McLain—who had a lone hit in 1966 with Don Gibson's "Sweet Dreams," which charted higher than Patsy Cline's more famous earlier version—has a grandly produced new project to help with the answer. Producer Adcock (with whom McLain played together in Lil’ Band O’ Gold) has wisely corralled a number of high-profile guests (and McLain fans) like Elvis Costello, Ivan Nevile, Nick Lowe, Van Dyke Parks, and Augie Meyers to add buzz to his first solo album since 1979. All this high-quality support and creative arranging—the strings and castanets on "My Hidden Heart," for example—camouflage the fact that McLain's voice has, not surprisingly, lost more than a step. While he's still willing, the ability to spin out the smooth vocal ribbon of self-pity and heartbreak that was once his speciality is no longer there. Despite spacious production, ballads like a cover of Bobby Charles' "I Hope," or his original "If You Don't Love Me"—both of which McLain works hard vocally to put over—are thin and strained. He's more comfortable among the mid tempo fiddles, accordion and rubboard of "Livin' on The Losin' End." The same dynamic applies to the simple, effective "The Greatest Show on Hurt," his co-write with Lowe which features Neville on backing vocals. McLain also sings well in the elaborately arranged version of his original, "California," which features a pair of trumpets and Parks on accordion. This is an overdue, well-deserved labor of love tribute filled with a lot of heart from the object of all this affection. Aided by just the right tempo and Meyers' Vox Continental organ, "Somebody" is the album's most successful upbeat number. Near the end, "Before I Grow Too Old," a tune McLain has been singing since the '70s, is a fitting closer.

Tedeschi Trucks Band - I Am The Moon: IV. Farewell

Bitrate: 320K/s
Year: 2022
Time: 29:08
Size: 67,2 MB
Label: Swamp Family Music LLC
Styles: R&B/Jam Band
Art: Front

Tracks Listing:
 1. Last Night In The Rain - 4:53
 2. Soul Sweet Song - 3:55
 3. D'Gary - 6:44
 4. Where Are My Friends? - 5:20
 5. I Can Feel You Smiling - 3:47
 6. Another Day - 4:26

What makes it obvious that this is the closing chapter of the Tedeschi Trucks Band's ambitious multi-volume project keyed to the phases of the moon? Well, nothing actually. The story, which revolves around a 12th century Sufi poem, became less clear and less of a motivating factor as the albums continued. These are simply four sets of love songs, all of them beautifully sung and played, but very much inside the same southern jam rock/R&B wheelhouse that the band has always operated. Susan Tedeschi's voice is reason enough to listen to any Tedeschi Trucks Band recording but it's not clear that over two hours of music released over three months won't be received as a numbing avalanche. Given that the material on all these volumes is similar the whole way through, that fatigue sets in early with I Am The Moon IV. Farewell. Like the previous three volumes, the finale benefits from the full sound, good recording quality and instrumental variety generated by the 12-piece version of the band. Having five capable vocalists available, especially for a recording project of this size, can never be a bad thing. While the music may have been a secondary concern to the films they are meant to accompany, as well as templates for the live jams they will evolve into, easy-going blues tunes like "Last Night In The Rain" that Tedeschi nails vocally in clever stanzas ("Went down to the station/ To catch the morning train/ One ticket to lonely/ One ticket to Spain") are the band at their best. "Soul Sweet Song" is an amiable, bouncy, light R&B number. And "Where Are My Friends?"—written and sung by vocalist/guitarist Mike Mattison—has a chorus line ("At the heart of the matter") that is one of the entire project's most memorable and connected moments. Less a journey than a mass of material composed during the pandemic-enforced downtime, I Am The Moon could have been cut down into a killer single or very solid double album.

Marcus King - Young Blood

Year: 2022
Time: 42:47
Size: 98,8 MB

Tracks Listing:
 1. It's Too Late - 2:56

 4. Pain - 4:22
 5. Good And Gone - 3:20
 6. Blood On The Tracks - 3:58
 7. Hard Working Man - 3:37
 8. Aim High - 5:13
 9. Dark Cloud - 3:45
10. Whisper - 3:38
11. Blues Worse Than I Ever Had - 3:31

I have been aware of Marcus King since he first started playing live shows with his father, Marvin, back around 2013 or so. I, like Marcus, am from upstate South Carolina, and his father used to frequent a local music store that I worked at as a teen. Marvin was always considered the best blues guitarist around. Even though I moved away, I’ve always paid attention to the South Carolina music scene looking for greatness. It wasn’t long after Marcus showed up on a stage, people around the upstate started talking about “Marvin’s son”. Fast forward to 2015 and the release of Soul Insight, Marcus’s first release. I was no longer just aware of Marcus King, I was a fan. By literally the 1:00 Minute mark of the second track “Boone” I was hooked. I couldn’t believe how good his songs and his playing were… and that voice. How could someone so young have such a soulful voice? I could see it at that moment, Marcus had the potential to be a huge artist. I’ve watched his career ever since. Now as Marcus embarks upon the release of his latest project, Young Blood, he has become a musical juggernaut…plain and simple. On this release, Marcus draws from some of his musical influences and states that his vision was to capture the sound of some of the “classic power trios” such as Jimi Hendrix and ZZ Top. He does not disappoint. King once again enlisted the expertise of Dan Auerbach to produce and Allen Parker to engineer the project, who worked on his Grammy Nominated project, El Dorado. The production on this release is raw and larger than life. The release focus on Marcus’s virtuoso guitar playing, his powerhouse vocals, and a stellar rhythm section for the base tracks on the record. It’s reminiscent of the time when classic rock ruled the airwaves, and music took you on a journey to a different place. “It’s Too Late” is the blistering lead track of off Young Blood. My first reaction when I heard it was “Finally! Marcus is doing the Rock Record! ” This is the Marcus King I first heard back in 2015 and I couldn’t wait to hear the rest of the tracks. “It’s Too Late” is a song about a failed relationship and conveys his thoughts perfectly with the attitude we’ve all wished we’ve had at some point after a break up. “Hard Working Man” was the first single off of the release, and it quickly reminded me of classic Steve Miller Band. It’s a feel-good anthem, that initially gave me hope that this release could be stylistically different that some of his earlier releases. Marcus’s raspy voice seems to perfectly weave between the catchy melody of the chorus and the guitar driven track. “Rescue Me” is a mid-tempo song that deals with overcoming struggles and difficult times in your life. When listening to this track, you get a sense of Marcus’s past pain and that this song was his therapeutic release from those emotions. The production is “swampy” similar to that of Creedence at its prime and is a perfect canvas for his lyrical journey. “Blood on the Tracks” is one of the most anthemic tracks on the release. The verses and chorus instantly get stuck in your head, and before you know it you’re singing the song all day. This is no surprise when I found out that the song was co-written by iconic song writer Desmond Child (Aerosmith, KISS, Bon Jovi). The production on this track is not as intense as others, but stylistically it still works well with the other songs on the project and is one of the stand out tracks. “Lie, Lie, Lie” is one of the songs on the release that most captures the “classic rock trio” feel and reminds the listener of the little old band from Texas. This track features some of Marcus’s fiercest guitar playing on the release which is perfectly paired with the powerhouse drums and bass on the track.“Blues Worse Than I Ever Had” is the final track on the release and is more reminiscent of some of his earlier Americana leaning songs. The subject matter of the track deals with a time in Marcus’s past when he (by his own admission) was over medicating and eventually had to deal with the loss of a family member. This is the rock record I’ve been wanting to hear from Marcus ever since the release of Soul Insight. Whether he’s playing the Ryman Auditorium with Billy Strings, opening for Chris Stapleton, or sitting in with Eric Clapton, he is a true musical force to be reckoned with. Marcus has done a seemingly effortless job of weaving through different genres of music whether it be rock, blues, soul, or country. Young Blood is an incredible rock record, and will surely catapult his career to new heights.

13. Fantasies - 3:08
14. My Nerves - 4:01
15. Shaky Tables - 4:00
16. Rottenpockets - 3:51

Emanuel Casablanca is an ideal example of an artist who possesses the ability, ingenuity and the passion that drives him to succeed.
Happily, the combination has paid off. The Brooklyn-based guitarist, singer and songwriter has worked with an array of A-list performers over the course of his career, among them such luminaries as bassist and producer Bill Laswell, drummer Daxx Nielsen, a prominent member of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honorees Cheap Trick, vocalist Bernard Fowler, a touring member of the Rolling Stones, bassist Doug Wimbish of the Grammy-winning band Living Colour, and others. Emanuel’s debut album, Blood On My Hands offers an opportunity for him to shine in the spotlight, share his skills and allow his talents to advance to front and center. It’s an eloquent and expressive set of songs — some sixteen in all, each offering different sides of his persona and bringing his ideas and intents to the surface. “I made it a point with this album to try to explore the essence of an imperfect past,” Emanuel insists. “There are things that I’ve done that I’ve tried to repent for, and in exorcising those demons, I’ve made an attempt to come clean and reveal my true self, despite all the flaws and imperfections.”  To aid in the delivery, Emanuel enlisted an exceptional cast of collaborators. They include such notable colleagues as guitar greats Eric Gales, Paul Gilbert and Albert Castiglia, saxophonist Jimmy Carpenter and vocalist Kat Riggins.  In a sense, the upcoming album finds Emanuel coming full circle. “Not to sound like a cliche, but music has always been an essential part of my life,” he maintains. “My mother was a music teacher, as well as the choir director at our church. My sisters sang in a vocal group when I was a child. My first instrument was violin that I was given when I was four years old. But I hated it, so I broke it after smashing it repeatedly.”

 7. Don't Worry About Me - 3:57
 8. Coke No Ice - 5:08
 9. Caress Me Baby - 3:08
10. Two Wheel Cadillac - 3:09

One Of The Last Bluesmen Of His Generation: The unstoppable Little Freddie King (aka Dr. Bones) has certainly paid his dues. The past 82 years he has survived three shootings, stabbings, a near fatal bike accident that pressed his spine, a stomach ulcer doctors believed would kill him, an accidental electrocution, the hurricane that ripped New Orleans apart in 2005, and now a pandemic. On his voice you can feel the trials of life. The music inside is the dose of Blues Medicine that kept him going. King is a country-style blues musician, links to an era when live music poured from the back-of-town nightclubs that were ubiquitous throughout New Orleans' African-American neighborhoods, fostering a musical subculture of downhome Mississippi blues that developed from the ground up in New Orleans. Little Freddie King is an artist who is among the last of his kind. This album proves it.

The Texas Horns, widely recognized as the preeminent hard-blowing three-piece blues, soul and roots music horn section, bring 25 years of stellar live performances, acclaimed session work, and solid album production to their every effort. Based in Austin and San Antonio, Texas, The Texas Horns are Mark “Kaz” Kazanoff, tenor sax, harmonica and vocals; John Mills, baritone sax and flute; and Al Gomez, trumpet and flugelhorn. Twenty-five years in the business is cause for any group to celebrate, especially in a specific niche often overlooked or deemed as a sideline. The Texas Horns have been featured as the ‘house horn section’ at dozens of big music festivals and on the Legendary Blues Cruise and have played on albums and toured with an array of renown artists, earning Grammy Nominations, Blues Music Awards and Living Blues Critics’ poll awards. Their third album, Everybody Let’s Roll (Blue Heart Records), is a testament to their years of hard work and genuine fun with thirteen tracks including eleven original compositions, presenting what they call “Their own set of rockin,’ sophisticated blues and R&B music,” clearly establishing The Texas Horns as, not only “sidemen,” but also recording artists and songwriters in their own right. The trio invited special guests to join the party including Jimmie Vaughan, Mike Flanigin, Carolyn Wonderland, Carmen Bradford, Johnny Moeller, Marcia Ball, Anson Funderburgh, Mike Zito, Guy Forsyth, and Michael Cross. Lone Star State blueswoman Carolyn Wonderland belts out the autobiographical opening track “Everybody Let’s Roll,” recounting the history and sacred musical mission of The Texas Horns. Mike Zito leads the ensemble with his gritty vocal on the driving tale of hard luck and trouble “Why It Always Gotta Be This Way.” The zippy jump blues “I Ain’t Mad With You,” is the first of five instrumental tracks and features hot licks from Matt Hubbard on keys, Johnny Moeller on guitar and of course blazing horn lines. Guest drummer, Tom Brechtlein, lays down the funky New Orleans beat, and Michael Cross calls out the party moves for the spicy dance number “Alligator Gumbo,” and then Austin’s Guy Forsyth preaches the wisdom of living life to its fullest during “Die With My Blues On.” The horns get a workout on the expansive arrangement of a deep cut from Abbey Road that turns the psychedelic blues “I Want You (She’s So Heavy),” into a 70’s horn funk showstopper. Living legend Jimmie Vaughan lends his vocal and fret board skills to the slinky “Too Far Gone,” with Mike Flanigin on B3 organ and Jason Corbiere on drums, to make it feel exactly right. Texas born jazz vocalist Carmen Bradford blows the doors off on the hard swinging “Watcha Got To Lose” that features hot blues harp from Kaz. Al Gomez blows serious chops on his trumpet for the salsa flavored “Apocalypso.” Guy Forsyth handles the vocals for “Prisoner In Paradise,” a dynamic track that has a sophisticated Blood Sweat and Tears feel. Each horn man gets a moment to shine on the funky instrumental “The Big Lie,” and Kaz takes over the lead vocals on “Ready For The Blues Tonight,” as Marcia Ball tosses in boogie-woogie piano on the swinging affirmation. The set ends with The Texas Horns, Vaughan and Flanigin breathing new life into a Chicago Blues classic “J.B.’s Rock,” the way they have for decades of road work together. An emblematic finale for a masterwork production from an iconic group. The Texas Horns are currently on tour with Vaughan, and will again be opening shows for Eric Clapton in September of this year.

Sincerity, pathos and powerhouse vocals. “Polished yet rootsy Chicago outfit Empty Pockets” (Rolling Stone) celebrates old-school classic rock, folk, and the blues, skillfully blending singer/songwriter catharsis with rich harmonies and real players. Bold Americana flavors straight from the soul.  When not busy recording in their personal studio, The Empty Pockets are out on the road headlining or opening for acts like Bob Schneider, Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Dickey Betts (Allman Brothers) and Dave Mason (Traffic), among many others. They also have passionately served as backing band for a number of artists of note, including Kenny Loggins, Al Stewart, Gary Wright, Richie Furay (of Buffalo Springfield), and Simon Kirke (of Bad Company).    In 2015, The Empty Pockets released their debut full-length album, The Ten Cent Tour, entering both the Billboard Indie and Heatseekers charts for the first time. With the 2017 release of Voices, The Empty Pockets entered a particularly prolific period with four Billboard-charting independent albums, releasing a holiday EP, Snow Day, in 2018, followed a year later by a new studio album, Tanglewoods, and then the live concert album, Live in Seattle.  “When The Empty Pockets play, they don’t just go through the motions of belting out tunes and revving their guitars to impress you – their performances are offset with a vibrancy and a sort of energetic showmanship so that space and distance don’t matter in the end – rather it’s more of which of their carefully crafted songs will strike a chord within you first” (My Nguyen, AMDEntertainment).
