Zygote is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter John Popper. Produced by Terry Manning, it was released on September 7, 1999, less than a month after the death of bassist Bobby Sheehan (Popper's friend and fellow member of the band Blues Traveler). Accompanying Popper on this album is Carter Beauford (of the Dave Matthews Band) on drums, and Crugie Riccio on guitar, Rob Clores, and Dave Ares/.Forming Blues Traveler in 1987 with 3 high school pals, vocalist/harmonica player John Popper continues to play 200 dates per year with his band (Popper also remains the driving force behind the hugely successful H.O.R.D.E. Festival tour). Now comes John’s highly anticipated solo album debut. Finally, fans of Popper’s amazingly fluid harp playing get the chance to hear the big man singing a dozen compositions from his vast catalog of unrecorded songs.
