Ante Up is the second recording for Michele D’Amour and the Love Dealers, building on the success of their first release, Sin Comin’ On.
Ante Up is the second recording for Michele D’Amour and the Love Dealers, finalists in the Washington Blues Society’s 2014 IBC Competition. Building on the success of their first release, Sin Comin’ On, the group decided to record twelve tracks penned by lead singer Michele D’Amour.
The songs were road-tested extensively while the band performed at several festivals and venues in the spring and summer of 2014. As with the first release, the tracks explore traditional blues themes such as love, loss, relationships, and temptation. However, more modern themes are covered as well; “Memory” deals with Alzheimer’s, a condition affecting two of the band members’ parents.
Guitarist Greg Dolan, new to the band as of November 2014, is a stellar addition, offering signature guitar riffs on several tracks. Michele’s vocals are again backed by the solid rhythm section of Patrick McDanel on bass and Rick J. Bowen on drums. Special guest Sue Oelrich plays keyboards on the tracks, and CD Woodbury contributes solos on "Too Fine a Night" and "Waiting for You."
