Here's a great album that's just packed full of soul.  This due got their start singing exceptional backup vocals for Ry Cooder, and on this album, Cooder returns the favor by producing and playing his trademark killer slide.  Every song on here's a winner, and most of them were penned by Evans and/or King.  It would have been easy for these guys to do an album full of covers, and I'm sure it would have been great.  But there is one cover here worth noting.  It's the album's closer "The Dark End of the Street".  It's stunning in it's beauty and passion, and after several listenings still gives me chills.  These guys remain among the few that remember what made REAL Soul Music great/
