This 2024 release from Mike Hammar and The Nails is filled with a variety of flavors from contemporary blues, blues rock, and Americana. All of the songs were written and produced by veteran blues singer, songwriter, and guitar player, Mike Hammar. At the heart of the album is the admiration for the band's home area in the heartland of central California, The title track, Raised in The Dirt, refers to the culture of this region as "powered by true grit". The Nails include "The Professor" Mike Boykin of harmonica/back up vocals, Sparky Gehres on bass guitar, Greg Merino on drums, and Allan 'B3 Blues" Carroll on the Hammond organ. This album was recorded and mastered by Jeff Sanders, best known for his mastering credit for Stevie Wonder's album Songs in the Key of Life.
