Dr. Mablues and the Detail Horns is a rhythm and blues band from southern Germany, founded in 1985 in Waiblingen, Baden-Württemberg.
Highlights of their musical career include a concert before an audience of 13,000 at the Custom Bike Show in Dymchurch, UK, and an appearance at the Bridgeport Rhythm & Blues Festival in Connecticut, USA—where, in May 1997, Dr. Mablues performed as the only European act alongside artists such as Chic, Ashford & Simpson, the Commodores, and Isaac Hayes. At their debut performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival, they were hailed as "the discovery" of the event. During the 2000 SWR Hotjazz Festival, the audience voted Dr. Mablues their favorite out of 27 participating bands, leading the broadcaster SWR to present them with the 2000 Audience Award.
In 2007, founding member Hans Kretschmer passed away unexpectedly.
In April 2024, founding member Henry Heinrich passed away unexpectedly.
In April 2025, Ralf Otto Reichert joined the band as their new trumpeter.
In December 2025, the band released a new album titled "Celebrate The Day."
