Ben "Swamp Donkey" Brenner founded Fonky Donkey in the Spring of 2019 to showcase his original Swamp Donkey songs and new arrangements of traditional and classic blues songs. Swamp Donkey music is the fruit of the Donkey's wide ranging influences - Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Muddy Waters, Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, and The Allman Brothers Band, to name a few. The Swamp Donkey is a four-time solo/duo competitor in the International Blues Challenge and President of the Arkansas River Blues Society. In addition to regular appearances at clubs throughout Arkansas, the Swamp Donkey is a veteran of the the King Biscuit Blues Festival (thrice), Hot Springs Blues Festival (thrice), the Main Street Food Truck Festival in Little Rock, Arkansas (five times), and, most recently, the PK Grills Grillfest at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Arkansas. In 2019, the Donkey released his first full-length CD of all original songs, the self-produced There Will Be A Light.
