Billy Hector has been one of the top blues players in NJ for many years and this CD is a fine example of his talent as a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. "Stop Dogging Me `Round" gives you a taste of the genuine original blues Hector is capable of; filled with just the right mix of anger and despair. "Big Boy Now" with the great start of "You walked into the room baby with your zima your pleather and tie-dyed hair" gives his vocals a work out and then the guitar just takes off, this guy can play. He acquits himself on the covers well, but it's the originals that just catch you. Even when he misses like on cuts like "Dealin' With the Devil" with his overwrought contempt for "How the rich get rich," it's at least an interesting miss. If you're a fan of the blues, do yourself a favor and give this one a listen.
