Recording artist, Catfish John Tisdell has recorded a wide variety of CD's ranging from Blues and Rock styles to traditional folk music. Owner of Koa Music Studio on Maui he spends his time teaching music lessons and playing and recording music. If the trade winds are strong, you'll most likely find him windsurfing at Kanaha beach.
Since his first public performances in the early 70's in Denver, Catfish has toured the country both as a solo artist and in bands, performing in clubs, coffeehouses, music festivals and concerts. His favorite style of music is a combination of Blues/Rock, but he has performed in bands ranging from traditional blues and folk to more contemporary rock.
Catfish has hosted weekly jam sessions on public radio, (he has a B.A. in Radio and TV Production), booked college concerts, written a guitar instructional book, and has taught many music workshops and classes. He is a recording artist, songwriter, author, and studio musician with a large variety of albums to his credit.
Since moving to Maui in 1991, John has performed in several bands. He started the Front Street Blues Band, which featured many of his original compositions as well as classic and contemporary blues and rock tunes. He played fiddle and banjo in the group "String Fever" (He also engineered their album, "Contagious".) and has played in a number of duos playing in clubs and on tour boats.
Incidentally, Catfish John got his nick-name from swimming in an algae covered pond in North Carolina.
