Marcus Malone continues to turn out very high quality recordings with the release of his latest CD “Hurricane”. Malone, a Detroit native and current UK resident, is without question one of the finest vocalists to be found in the blues, blues/rock, or rock genres. He has a very Paul Rogers like quality to his voice which, when combined with the considerable guitar skills of Stuart Dixon, is excellent for the multiple styles of music he plays. And, after all, Marcus Malone and his music are much about excellence. “Hurricane” includes 12 tracks of Malone original compositions, ranging from tunes that sound like old spirituals to some pretty hard blues/rock numbers. The musicians are very good, with the aforementioned guitarist Dixon being the stand out player, but the rest of the band is spot on as well. I particularly enjoy writing and bringing recordings like this to your attention, ones that are first rate in every possible category. Every song here is worthy of you time, and you will especially enjoy the gospel number “Round The Corner”, the scorching blues of “Whiskey Talkin”, the very hard rock track “Crawlin” which is outstanding, and a blues rock beast and perhaps my favorite on the set “Christine”. No matter the style, no matter the message, the voice is always spectacular.
“Hurricane” is a must own for any guitar driven blues/rock fan as are any other of Malone’s recordings. Please visit the official Marcus Malone web site at www.marcusmalone.com for instructions on how to get yourself a copy.
