Chris Klein - Biography
Native-New Orleanean Chris Klein is a multi-instrumentalist, who plays harmonica, flute, tenor and baritone saxophones, sings, and composes very original music as well. For over 25 years, he has played, and recorded with musicians whose musical styles include blues, jazz, soul, funk, rock, reggae, house, and cultural influences include music from Latin America, the Middle East, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Brazil. In the studio, Klein is at home as a producer, arranger, engineer, or hired gun, with numerous productions under his belt, including his band's newest release - "The Edgewood Sessions," which coincides with his electronica all-instrumental 10 song cd for 2019, titled "The Electronic Dreams of Kiki Bono," under the pseudonym - FastForward Selector. That set of cd's, and an 8 gb flash drive of live shows were produced entirely by Chris Klein. The music is original, well-rounded, and heart-felt, with mature insights, soulfully delivered atop a bed of innovative sounds, and other manifestations of Klein's creative imagination, and eclectic mélange of styles. In the past, Klein has played and recorded with a number of artists and different congregations of great musicians including the saxophone quartet, Winds of Change, the reggae group, The Revealers, Soul Project (NOLA), The Dirty Boogaloo, and the Funk Revival Orchestra, in which he was front man and horn section director. He has also played with the Latin bands Ya Ya Sol, and Rene Escovedo’s Grupo Festejo, and the rock bands The Latelys, The Wicked Mercies, The Slippery Slope, the Eddy Redd Band, Even Elroy, and additionally recorded with DJ’s and producers Todd Christiansen a.k.a. B Smiley, Duane Williams a.k.a. Native Intelligence, and SIMO. Whether it is as a frontman, sideman, section member, band director, or producer, Klein always creates an indelible roll, comprised of talent, energy, and personality, in any project he is involved with. His mission, as it was from his teens, and as it will be until his last day, is to forever keep music pulsing through his life, growing with it, learning from it, and communicating through it - with the deep passion, and earnest respect for the genuine love affair that comes standard with the life lead as a musician of his creative caliber.
