MISSISSIPPI QUEEN & THE WET DOGS – PHOENIX
Mississippi Queen & the Wet Dogs present Phoenix, their second album, an LP of eight original tracks with which they continue to explore and develop their musical identity. This Bilbao-based funky rocksoul band, formed in 2015, has all the ingredients to win over audiences: a repertoire that encompasses many branches of Black music, an exceptional lead vocalist, and a powerful stage presence that thrills and captivates. Their live shows blend original songs with covers of classic and contemporary artists in an amalgamation of styles: soul, funk, blues, gospel, country… The group was founded by Inés Eleuteria, who combines powerful and soulful vocals with natural stage presence, and Aitor Zorriketa “The Malamute,” who displays tremendous expressive sensitivity and stylistic versatility on guitar. Completing this musical family are Ander Alonso on drums, Mikel Núñez on keyboards, and Jon Ander Amigo on bass. In January 2019, they released their first album, Try Me, which led to a tour of the best Black music festivals in the Basque Country and the Iberian Peninsula. They were selected by the AIE (Spanish Association of Performers) for the January-June 2020 AIEnruta Artistas program. That same year, they also won first prize in the SubeRock 2020 band competition and were winners of the Sonidos Mans 2020 competition, which allowed them to record the single ‘Welcome Home’ at Mans Studios in Galicia. This single was released in November 2020. Their live performances are a must-see for fans of versatile soul music; they'll make you dance and sing, they'll make you feel good, and they're sure to move you.
