Sheridan and his band play blues and Americana. Sheridan, who doesn't rely on his vocals to begin with, sounds rather depressive and plaintive, both lyrically and musically. It's music with a strong "life is hard, and then you die" vibe.
The situation becomes somewhat more upbeat (or rather, happier) when Sheridan switches to blues. Lyrically, little changes, but musically, things become a bit more interesting.
Overall, "Sunsets & Stories" is a somber singer-songwriter album that adds little to the blues and Americana genres.
