If there is a blues musician in the Netherlands with blues in his veins, it is undoubtedly Richard Bergen. More than three years after his bassist died, Richard van Bergen has decided to get his hands dirty and, with a vengeance, bring this album to the light of day. “Rootbag” is an album of thirteen songs influence by the Mississippi Delta blues and all were written by Richard. This CD is a great find with the sublime guitar playing of Richard and his somewhat raw voice, coupled with very beautiful lyrics and tight bass-playing, along with sophisticated drumming, making a fine blues feeling.
