Exciting debut album for this hot Sydney blues band. Stand-out tracks are Buried Alive In The Blues, Cold Sweat, Empty Arms Hotel and a magic rendition of Honey Hush. The Bluetongues are primarily a rhythm & blues band with some seriously funky undertones, with mostly upbeat rhythms made to dance to if you feel so inclined..
The Bluetongue evolved out of the classic Sydney guitar based blues outfit, Texas Radio. With the addition of keyboards the transformation into the Bluetongue's more dance oriented, dynamic, rhythmic style, displays their characteriisic versatility. The originals are largely collaborative and as such reflect the band's diverse musical background with a firm base in the blues genre. All the covers have a distinct interperpretation which has become a signature of the band's attention to detail, while working originality into a grass roots Australian blues sound. Henry Sliwa (drumes) and Murray Simpson (keys) are the only two Texas Radians remaining, but, the addition of Tony Quelch (vocals, harp & guitar) in 2006 another burst of creativity came about. Wayne Caveney (guitar) and Paul Blassi (bass), both respected Sydney musos, add to and complete the combination now easily recognisable as the Bluetongue Blues Band.
