If it comes to comparing, names like Los Lobos, or The Paladins come to mind. Their members Thomas Yearsley and Dave Gonzalez are close musical friends and fans of Velvetone. The music might best be described as high-energy American style roots rock. Velvetone are loud and straight-forward, powerfully driven by the energy of vintage rockabilly. Velvetone are unique. On their first album for our CrossCut label they are presenting mostly originals. Their repertoire stretches wide, from straight rockers to a Tex-Mex-style polka, and moody ballads.Velvetone sound willfull and dark.
