Blues rock the way blues rock should be played. That's how you can describe the new album by Bas Paardekooper & The Blew Crue. Room 111 is now the 3rd full-length album by this young Dutch blues rock band. Because in addition to these albums, the EP Hang On To Tomorrow was also released in 2008. For a while it seemed like it would be a problem to get the record ready on time after a fire in the studio. But fortunately we were able to quickly move to another studio and the latest project was presented on time. Room 111 kicks off at full speed with the title piece of the same name. So with some blues rock of the highest order. But the fact that this band has more qualities than just heavy blues rock is evident from the subsequent songs. You Don't Have To Beg No More brings out the soul feeling in the men. And one song later, when Angel Walk With Me comes along, they also appear to have more than decent jazzy qualities. This is partly due to the jazzy voice of fellow lead vocalist and keyboardist Wouter Hoek. But what they are really good at is pumping blues rock, such as in Lose The Blues. Opening with a nice solo by Paardekooper, supported with wonderful organ work by Hoek, while Roel van Leeuwen (drums) and André de Bruijn (bass) provide a perfect rhythm section. Rock & Roll also appears with Another Day On The Road, in which the harmonious singing is particularly striking. To conclude, we are presented with a beautiful ballad with Why A Man Needs A Woman. This band, founded in 2007, is really making progress! And it can safely be said that Bas Paardekooper & The BLew Crue now belong to the top of the Dutch Blues scene. They will stay there for a while listening to this album!!!
