Homegrown originals w/ a few rare hidden gems from deep within the vault of musical treasures.
An 8 piece band including Nello (harmonica) and Mic Elderfield-sax (Southerly Change and Benny and the SSS), Wayne Rigby sax(Bonnie Kaye and the Bona Fides, Wil Van Eckert drums(CK and the 45's), the dual guitar attack of Matt and Marcus Adamson, sassy vocals from Amanda Bartley.
We were standing on the corner of then & now, contemplating the musical shape of this world we were born into - it seemed like time was running out.. What to do with what we had left - which was a considerable amount - it was a "Blues Brothers" moment.
So we gathered the band for a wayward post apocalyptic journey..and we started out in Chicago......

Reggie Evans, percussionist on 11 songs, has been a touring musician and recording session drummer for two decards. He helps direct his church's gospel bad nad recently has been asked to become a deacon. Doug Rott: "Besides writing the songs I had to convey how they should sound to a group of people who know more about music than I will ever. I'D only been singing for a year when I began to record. Time to sink or swim. At least I was treading water like an S.O.B. We had no rehearsals before recording. I sang each lyric to the musicians, they experimented and within an hour the tracks were down. If you asked me a few years ago what the chances were I'd be singing and recording my own songs compared to my becoming an astronaut, I'd have told you to beam me up. Everyone tells you what you can't do".

10. Don't Love Me - 4:11

Since a very young age, music has flowed in Dawn O' Keefe Williams' blood. She began singing as well as bopping her head to the radio as a child. And as she seasoned in age, she sang in high school choirs as well as rock bands. However, she didn't pursue her musical career right away after graduation. During the 1980's she moved to Des Plaines, Illinois, to raise a family, for putting food on the table took priority over her music. Although, I believe that she wasn't really taking a break from her music, she was just walking her road of blues in order to project her future songs with intense emotions, as well as have the honest ability to belt them out like an experienced blues woman.
Dawn O' Keefe Williams performed with a variety of bands until one night she met Emery Williams Jr. (Who recorded with Johnny Nash on the song, "I Can See Clearly Now.") Soon the two merged their musical talent, and Emery took Dawn deeper into the Chicago blues scene. Suddenly Dawn's dreams were manifesting while she vocalized her heart and soul as a member of the Slick Willy Band. In 1995 Dawn and Emery Williams Jr. married. However, their love affair sadly ended when Emery surrendered his fight to cancer in 1996. And throughout this CD, which she has dedicated to her late husband, you can hear as well as feel Dawn's grief, which I feel, has empowered of all of her compositions. Sometimes one's heartache becomes the fuel to create something beautiful, deep, and immortal, such as this CD.
I don't know what song I enjoyed most. I can honestly say I was thrilled with each one. In track number one, "Working Woman Blues," Dawn's raw emotions sear though any woman who's walked in familiar shoes. This Blues Diva zaps you with her electric attitude in "Don't Come Home" (Her answer to Bill Bailey). Her wanton voice wraps around your soul, strikes you with her strength and unveils her vulnerability in "It's A Sin." You'll taste the salt from her tears in, "I Can't Get Over Loving You." You'll hear another great, Chicago Blues Diva, Vanessa Davis join Williams in the profound track, "Daily Love." Kevin Bibbs sings a duet with Dawn in song number six, "Lately." And you'll burn with passion in, "Stone Cold Fool," which the late, great Emery Williams Jr. inflames this song even more with his luscious guitar licks and hot vocals, and Dawn O' Keefe Williams has also won a Billboard certificate of achievement for.

Polly O'Keary, award-winning and world-touring bass player, vocalist and songwriter, is back in the northwest with a brand new band, Polly O'Keary and the Rhythm Method.
Bassist and leader Polly O’Keary sings with grit as she mixes the urgency of Janis Joplin with the earth tones of Beth Hart with her rollicking trio of guitarist David Miller and drummer Tommy Cook during this smoky juke joint of a collection of gig recordings at side road places like “Peabo’s Sports Bar and Village Taphouse and Grill. Serve them up!!  O’Keary and company mix up originals and covers like steak fries and sauces, growling through an rocking “Red Light” and stomping out a funky “A Man Who Can Stand.” The trio has the boogie blues shuffle in their marrow, with Miller’s guitar crying out on “It’s My Soul” and O’Keary laying out a nasty bass line for a slithering “Sugar Daddy.” Riveting and stark blues and painted on all of the walls, as on the Chicago trip for “Black Crow Callin’” and the gospel’d “In My Father’s House.” Cloudy skies hover on the ballad “Old Love” and the team rocks like ZZ Top for the thick strings of “Stop Train” before O’Keary bares her soul as she moans through “Gather ‘Round Me Angels.” This lady has been around the block, and sings like she survived the trip.

10. You Get Me High - 5:30
11. Let Me Be Kind - 8:10

Release  from Polly O'Keary & the Rhythm Method and it's powerful. Opening with Fool's Gold, kind of a funky Whiskey Train or Come To Papa style track with thick female vocals from O'Keary and cool wahwah enriched guitar work from Clint " Seattle Slim" Nonnemaker. Summer has a light poppy sound with a twist of country. Tommy Cook is tight on drums but to my ear it's O'Keary on bass that makes this track special. Nothing Left To Say has a 60's soundtrack sound highlighted by Spanish horn work from Greg Lyons (trumpet) and Mike West on sax. Slick surf guitar work from Nonnemaker is actually quite cool. Your Honor is an R&B style track featuring some of the best vocal work from O'Keary. Nonnemaker lays down some really nice melodic phrases on guitar making for a nice package. Harder Than It Has To Be has a shuffle feel with Arthur Migliazza rolling keys and Nonnemaker again stepping up for a cool solo. Stop, Train is a blues rocker with a tight beat and a real nice bass line. Certainly the meatiest track on the release, Nonnemaker, Cook and O'Keary make this track musically tight and solid. How The Mighty Fall is a radio style track with a symmetrical construction and catchy melody. Nonnemaker steps up with another crisp guitar solo on this track breaking the basic symmetry with a Latin flair. Losing You Again is a slow ballad with breathy lyrics. A nice openness is created on this track and Nonnemaker plays simple but clean melodic guitar lead. You Get Me High again features the strong bass riffs of O'Keary with a cool funk beat. Lyons and West are back on horns, almost capturing a "War" like sound. Certainly one of my favorite tracks on the release, this track has a strong feel and the vocals are hot! Another cool solo from Nonnemaker over the funk sets it off nicely. Ouch! Wrapping the track with soul ballad, Let Me Be Kind, O'Keary reinforces the strength of the band as a unit and her own leadership as a bassist and lead singer. Nonnemaker definitely carries his weight with another nicely placed guitar riff, never overplayed but strong. Vocals on this track actually approach gospel as the track builds giving it real power. Nice job!

“Kaye Bohler is a rarity in the world. A singer, with a beautiful, smooth, flexible voice, who writes her own, personal songs and knows how to interpret them at a high level.” Barn Owl Blues, Germany  Few singers have harnessed the power to sing and truly entertain the way Kaye Bohler has. Her songwriting is thought provoking and prolific. Her vocal range is over 3 octaves, capable of operatic arias or Mavis Staple style Soul.  Her authenticity is revealed in her, over 3-decade study of The Blues. The athletic ease and natural sex appeal of the way Kaye dances during her show are abundantly compelling combined with the comfort of her comedic timing, bring an element that is reminiscent of a Vegas Rat Pack show. Her recordings are aptly characterized here by Michael Macomber of Retro Review Magazine,…”I’m telling ya, this lady has more than a little Aretha in her big, beautiful blues belt. She isn’t a sound-alike by any means, but she has that kind of power, that kind of nuance and that kind of emotional resonance. Her stylistic range is impressive too.  Of course, Ms. Bohler is much more than a magnificent set of pipes. It also turns out she’s a killer songwriter...  Once again, her range is incredible…Utterly breathtaking.”   Kaye’s career now spans 4 decades, with 5 albums and three singles recorded, having toured the South West, all over the Pacific North West and Japan, with only the pandemic to interrupt her non-stop 40-year career. She has shared the stage with Bozz Skaggs, Elvin Bishop, Robert Cray, Gatemouth Brown, Irma Thomas, Sista’ Monica, Magic Slim, Pinetop Perkins and Rod Piazza to name a few. The musicians and producers on Kaye’s albums host a wealth of San Francisco Bay Area, L.A. and International celebrities including Robben Ford, Tommy Castro, Danny Caren, Garth Webber and Pete Anderson. Kaye likes to think of herself as a “Mavin of Mid-century Modern American Roots Music.” Her Era of influence is Big Band Swing to late 1970’s Funk. That is reflected in her songwriting as well as the material she covers. She has been a force as her own band leader, whether she steps out with small trio or her 10-piece big band. Dave Faires of the Monterey County Weekly writes, “There is no way to contain Kaye Bohler. She strides across time, not singing but laying down songs, not dressing up but stepping out-bringing the vibe if a different era and making it resonate now. With a voice of whiskey and honey - Bohler is blues and soul, rock and big band, Tina Turner, Etta James, James Brown in one.”  On the journey to find your style, a singer/songwriter travels through many genres and bands, and Kaye’s career has been no different.

West of Memphis was founded in 1999 by harmonica player Karl Cabbage and guitarist Tom Walpole. Committed to playing high quality and authentic American blues music, West of Memphis has not succumbed to market pressures that would have the band lazily following the road well traveled. In 2006, West of Memphis released their debut effort, Monkey Business, which earned the band a San Diego Music Awards nomination for "Best Blues Album" in 2006. In 2007, the band headed north to Montreal on the invitation from Canadian bluesman and harmonicia player extraordinaire Bharath Rajakumar, to record the follow up album "Honey Pie". In September 2009, the band won Best Blues at the San Diego Music Awards.
"Honey Pie"
From Reviewer Tom Clarke: "Honey Pie is the second album by San Diego's West Of Memphis and it's the kind of disc that knocks you sideways with talent and presentation, and then makes you dance. It's the blues from Chicago to California, with a bit of the South in there because that's where it all came from. Produced live in the studio, all the power and miniscule nuances of a group of players who really have it nailed are nailed. It all started in 1994 when, as a Navy man, Karl Cabbage would steal away to nearby Memphis to entertain with his voice and harp. With guitarist Tom Walpole, now he leads a group that knows exactly how to make the old sound exciting as hell and the new sound right there with the old--on every one of 14 songs. In a world where they fly planes into buildings, we all need to do the 'Miss Sugarpuss Boogie' now and again." - "Hittn' the Note Magazine

The West End Blues Band has cooked up a good one with the release of their CD 'Just Because I'm Out Of Money' featuring 18 original songs, all penned by the band. The band draws it's sound from a foundation of classic electric blues, but has built it into something all their own based on their roots in Blues, R&B and Jazz. The rhythm section, propelled by Ray Fisk on bass and Jimmy Lavezzo on drums, powers the band from the get go, laying down a rhythmic, pulsing feel on the opening title track, then pulling the listener by the hand on a blues induced carpet ride, with a tight and tasty mix of blues inflected grooves, including up tempo shuffles, full flavored Texas marches, and finger snapping Jump and R&B rhythms. West End founder and guitarist Jim Atkinson cranks out a full range of great guitar tones, combining gritty rhythm chops and snarling lead fills on tunes such as the Texas flavored 'Just Say You Will', 'Shining Star', or the rousing up tempo instrumental 'Albert' (a tribute to early influence Albert Collins). Then he shifts gears in songs such as 'Michael' and 'Kerri Lee' with alluring, soulful phrasing, interlaced with a warm biting tone Master harmonica guru Gary Bernath adds his sometimes smooth, sometimes rootsy vocal style to many of the songs. Ease into the smoky mood of 'Moving To Texas' where his soulful vocals are combined with one of his many satisfying helpings of fabulous harp tone. Check out his finger popping, uptown harp attack in 'Scattin' The Blues', then sit down for some greasy Delta flavor with 'It's Dark and It's Cold'. And if it's saxophone you crave, this band delivers. Listen to Dave Stringham blowing up a storm in 'Dave's Boogie', then catch the sweaty intensity he delivers in 'Only Your Love'. Stringham also teams with Gary Bernath on sax as they weave their horn parts into the sultry instrumental head in 'You Think I'm Blind', featuring Jim Atkinson on vocals. Compelling guitar styling, mesmerizing harp solos, soulful sax lines, heart felt vocals, savvy songwriting, it's all here, as the music twists tightly around the changes in every song. Masterfully recorded and engineered by Bill Smith at his Club 39 Studios in Sudbury, Massachusetts. You need to add this one to your collection!

Black Eyed Sons - A New Rock 'n' Roll Collective - Members of The Quireboys and Down n' Outz are joined by an amazing collection of fellow musicians for a joyous collaboration of mutual admiration and musical celebration. Having moved on from dismissing Spike from the band and all the pain that went with The Quireboys name, the remaining members have now drawn a line under that era and returned with a new name and new outlook on their music.
This new release includes collaborations with many of their musical peers which shows that these boys are heavily respected.
First track, `Lie To Me’ dos not set out to change the world and is a classic Quireboys style piano led romp featuring Keith weir on keys and Lee Vernon on harmonica. `Foolin’ Yourself’ continues in the same vein and sees Steve Conte and Kyf Brewer from Company of Wolves join in the fun here.
`Medicine’ takes a slightly different path in this slower, country rock-tinged affair. This time aided and abetted by Buckcherry’s Josh Todd and Stevie D. The country flavour continues with the incredibly harmonious `Autumn Reigns’ replete with Weir’s Hammond providing a backdrop to the vocal of Charlie Starr of Blackberry Smoke.
The star of the album is of course, the title track and as such we get an A list vocalist here in the form of Joe Elliott. Paul Guerin kicks ass with some great melodic guitar work which is bolstered by Ryan Roxie (Alic Cooper) in this seventies glam rock ditty. We return to familiar territory with `Don’t Put Me In The Corner’ which is a straight-ahead raunchy rocker filled with the gritty warm vocal tones of Guy Griffin.
Those of you who know ex White Lion vocalist, Mike Tramps solo work will appreciate his efforts on `True Colours’ as he digs deep and gives his heart and soul to this track. Next up with have a cover of the Mink Deville classic, `Savoir Faire’ which does not disappoint as Chris Johnstone guests on the piano here.
More classic tones leap out from `Dig Me Out Of This Hole’ as Guerin works his slide guitar, the Hammond organ wails and singalong chorus’ abound. Tempo slows back to a country pace with `So Glorious’ as Dan Reed takes a more relaxed turn at the helm.
We end the album with a strings filled `Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory’ which finishes thing off in a calm sedate manner.
What apparent here is that The Quireboys was never just about a charismatic, larger than life frontman but what was behind him was a bunch of highly skilled, talented musicians who love their craft. These guys, with the aid of some great guest stars have now stepped into the light and have proved they can lay down some of the best grassroots rock in the world with no airs and graces or fuss, just pure seventies-tinged rock n roll.
Collaborators on this release include:
Joe Elliott (Def Leppard)
Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke)
Chip Z’Nuff (Enuff Z’Nuff)
Josh Todd and Stevie D (BuckCherry)
Chris Johnstone (Quireboys/Thirsty)
Dan Reed (Dan Reed Network)
Scotti Hill (Skid Row)
Steve Conte (Mike Monroe/NY Dolls/Company Of Wolves)
Kyf Brewer (Company Of Wolves/Barley Juice)
Alan Clayton (The Dirty Strangers)
Ryan Roxie (Alice Cooper)

A native Oregonian, Bobby is a blues influenced rocker who has been playing guitar and singing for over thirty years. He's performed all over the West coast with artists such as Big Brother and the Holding Company, Clarence Clemmens, Henry Vestine of Canned Heat.
Guitarist/vocalist Bobby Lindstrom delivers righteous blues rock on Firetender (2017), an 11-song CD-R release described as “inspired electric guitar work that sits somewhere between the boogie-woogie of Billy Gibbons and the grit of the Rolling Stones.” His lead vocals, with just the right amount of bluesy grit and dark undertones, steal the show as he lays down searing, tube-like solos over all-original material. For an album that epitomizes blues/rock guitar music, track down a copy of Firetender.

Steve Hill (aka Steve Territo) has been playing music since he was eight years old. In 1965 he switched from playing the accordion (like many an Italian kid did in those days) to guitar and harmonica. Then in the early 1970's he came to the realization that the only style of music he was interested in performing in a band setting was blues and soul influenced rock and roll. Moving to the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas from his hometown of Chicago, Illinois, in 1974, Hill (now also singing), formed and played in a variety of bands. From 1982 untill 1988 he headed The J.B. Strut Band which played around a seven state area as well as throughout Texas and released an album of several blues covers and seven original songs, four written by Hill and three by Hill in combination with other band members. "J.B. Strut," as the band was known locally, also opened shows for Johnny Winter, Omar and the Howlers, the Tailgators, Little Joe Blue, Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows, and others. After disbanding the group late in 1988 due to personnel changes and that old band nemesis, "artistic differences," Hill took a seven year sabbatical from playing live, preferring instead to concentrate on songwriting. By 1995, he once again started playing locally, first in a five piece band, then in The Steve Hill Trio. Today, Hill has been fortunate enough to be able to continue playing the music he wants to play with some of the best blues/rock players in the DFW area including Cadillac Johnson, Aram Doroff, Bobby Counts, Dirk Cordes, Steve Springer, Jas Stephens, Linda Waring, Michael J. Dohoney and others.

Named for the sort of complexion you get from the neon nightly beer lights, Tavern Tan play what we call "Live American Music".
Formed in 2004, this is a sound that used to be standard in taverns, pubs, bars, juke joints, dancehalls, and the local dive in every town and city in America...the sound of eclectic, original roots music and rock n' roll....anything with a little grit n' soul to it.
Recorded in 2007, this one quickly sold out...but this long-out-of-print, 16-song sophomore effort is available for digital download! It's a particular gem among The Tanning Faithful, containing many enduring standards of Tavern Tan's repertoire ("Rock & Roll Shoes", "Blue Lu", "Gordon & Main", "Last Chance Again", "Trying to Find You") as well as a neo-pseudo-funk bit of absurdity, the Tavern Tan Manifesto known as "Monkey with a Fez On"! The first recorded works by the boys featuring bassist Bill Melcher (Crack Babies, Hurry Down Sunshine, Start Making Sense), this was produced by Dan McKinney (The Original Sins), who is all over the project tickling the ivories and squashing his Hammond. All killer, no filler....

Ebylee "EB" Davis is an internationally known blues singer. Davis, who not only impresses with his expressive voice but also with his harmonica playing, offers a perfectly coordinated performance. With all the connection to the roots of the blues, he also spans the musical arc from rock'n'roll to soul. Eb Davis was born in 1945 in the Delta town of Elaine, Arkansas and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. In the sixties he moved to New York where he spend many years performing before moving to Germany. When EB was about fourteen, he left Arkansas and the ‘country-life’ behind and moved to Memphis, which at that time was truly the home of the Blues. In Memphis, EB met Eugene Goldston. He owned the 521 Club in Booklyn and moved to New York. He came to Berlin Germany as a spy for the US military. What he experienced is almost too unbelievable to be true and to be seen in the documentary “How Berlin got the Blues”. In 2008 he was given the official title of “Blues Ambassador to the State of Arkansas”.

"Background: In late August of this year, the DK Stewart Sextet performed at a fundraiser for a friend of ours, Mark Kandianis, during an afternoon air demonstration in Olympia, Washington of vintage prop-driven and restored WWII airplanes in combination with antique auto and military equipment. As we pulled onto the airstrip we were surprised at the number of security folks on duty and were completely knocked out by the rather large stage and hi-tech sound equipment provided for the show. We were also treated like visiting dignitaries. Turns out that this performance was devoted to raising money for families of active-duty military personnel. DK was introduced as a former USMC combat veteran of the Vietnam War, a title he rarely displays in public and was surprised to receive recognition for this late in his career. Although the crowd was sparse, and dispersed around the airstrip observing the displays, the band began it's set in earnest, quickly discovering that the audio tech had not only provided the state-of-the-art sound system but also knew how to use it. It sounded like a recording studio on and off stage, which further propelled our best efforts to provide as thrilling a show possible for our special guests. We did not discover until half way through the event that the show was being recorded using a state-of-the-art, twenty-four channel digital mixing board. And out of the twenty-four tunes recorded that day, over half were free of noise from jets, helicopters or autos and had potential to be mixed into a viable digital format. Result. After minimal mixing and production the result has been the creation of a "live" twelve- song CD that features the DK Stewart Sextet exactly as it sounds on stage. The " Live For the Troops" CD will be distributed through military channels throughout the US and various offshore military bases or facilities for the benefit and enjoyment of deployed personnel. Proceeds from this CD will go to worthy Tax Exempt 501c3 foundations, Madigan Foundation the USO and other Foundations, Aiding the Men and Women who protect and defend our country".

 6. Blues Gets in Your Blood - 3:07

It's the  fifth CD from the hard-drivin' Terry Whalen Band, called Two Steps Forward. Whalen and the group always crank it up and deliver a powerful show, and that's happening on the new disc as well.
You have out-and-out thunder numbers, such as opener Wheels Hit The Ground, all muscle and guitar. Then there are story-songs, still with an electric edge, but snuggled into a loping beat, so you can follow the tale, like Robert Johnson Came To Town, what might have happened when the legendary character blew in for a gig. Like all good Johnson fables, the devil of temptation makes an appearance. Blues Gets In Your Blood pretty much says it all, a feel-good, gospel vibe that celebrates the pioneers, and explains why the Whalen Band keeps on doing it.

D.K. Stewart is a big name in the N.Western USA. He has played with artists of the calibre of Buddy Guy, Willie Dixon, Albert Collins, Sonny Terry & Browny Magee, Junior Walker, Clifton Chenier, Ray Charles, Paul Butterfield, BB King, and Robert Cray. These are only a few of the greats that D.K has been associated with. You gotta be good to play with these guys, and D. K. Stewart is a sensational organist and pianist. Listen to his "Barrelhouse" piano style. This kind of music will get you movin'!. He sings the blues, "Chicago style" with a piece of New Orleans soul. The band play great rhythmic Southern blues/soul patterns, and the sax work here by Chris Mercer is really good. This guy has got to be heard by more people.

Blues has been a part of Dave Mason’s music and guitar-playing from the very beginning of his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame career as an 18-year-old founding member of Traffic alongside Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood. Now, some six decades later, Mason is taking his own advice, playing some of the best guitar of his life on his latest album A Shade of Blues. The 11 songs range from the primal Robert Johnson 12-string acoustic blues of “Come Home in My Kitchen” to the JJ Cale-style folk blues of the Mason-arranged “Cocaine Blues,” the reggae feel of Mason’s “Just Another Fool in Love,” and the Spanish flamenco/Gipsy Kings guitars of his “El Toro,” adding saxophone player Warren Hill to the final mix. There are also bluesy re-imaginings of Traffic standards “The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys” and “Dear Mr. Fantasy", with world-class guitarist Joe Bonamassa adding his distinctive riffs to both tracks. Michael McDonald adds vocal harmony, piano and organ to Mason’s self-penned “It’s Just You and Me,” recorded several years ago in Dave’s current Hawaii home studio.
A Shade of Blues is living proof of the longevity of the blues as well as the artist, with Dave Mason burnishing his Hall of Fame legacy, proving that by continuing to use it, you won’t lose it. He continues to tour as Dave Mason’s Traffic Jam, playing many of the hits he helped create. In 2024 Mason released his memoir, ‘Only You Know & I Know’.

This one is all bluesrock, blues and rhythm & blues. Cool!
Guy & The Hippies had never done an album with the same musical style throughout, but putting the band together at two Houston, Texas blues jams (at Dan Electro's Guitar Bar & The Big Easy) has made it's mark. We couldn't do this if we were a signed band, but as independant artists, we can, so we took the 6 blues and bluesrock songs off of the Emotional Inconvenience CD (which has all kinds of rock and rhythm, with tastes of blues, funk, jazz and country as well as blues) and added 8 more of the same. Some of it is not your Father's blues, but the fifteen musicians on this CD are all veterans of the Texas blues scene.
